I find all your videos incredibly helpful, especially when it comes to German cases - I find the German genitive case so hard to understand and use correctly and am so grateful to you.
This was for me one of the bestest best explanations on RUclips, this topic has been one of the most kompliziert topics as English doesn't have such things or rather we don't encounter such intricacies in it ❤❤❤ vielen Dank Lehrer
I am really grateful for your videos and as soon I am able to contribute you monetarily I'll do it without hesitation. Again, thank you for your work and clear explanations!
The explanation of the structure was very smooth, fast, and simple to understand. Probably one of the best German tutorials I watched so far. The TeMoLo rule could've been mentioned, aber Vielen Dank!
"vile weil" is very creative and a great mnemonic ! Danke! Just wish there's was some way to easily remember the remaining boot words. Guess Übung macht den Meister for those!
yesterday I was overwhelmed and doubting if I can continue studying German. This morning I found this channel, and it gives me hope. Thank you and I subscribed
hello Herr Ferguson! I'm learning German through your RUclips videos and I was wondering if you had any grammar exercises on the cases and adjective endings and word order? Or maybe can you point me to the direction where I can find any? Thank you so much!
Hallo! Thanks for the comment. I don’t have anything to help with this currently (I’d like to get there eventually!) but in the meantime, the following website is very useful! german.net/exercises/ There’s a menu in the top left to choose which aspect of grammar you’d like to work on and I’m fairly sure it marks it itself! Hope that helps! 🙏🏼
OH MY GOD THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN SO CONFUSED ABOUT 😭 I'm so happy I found your video, at first I thought all conjunctions booted verbs to the end. Thank you for clarifying this 💜 Another thing I find difficult is Adjektiv Deklination is it possible for you to make an easier summarized version of it? Edit: Nvm I already found ur vid about adjective endings
I know this is an older video but how do you work with multi-verb sentences?? This question has confused me so much and with this great video I have no doubt in my mind that you could unjumble the mess.
Great question! I’ll put this in another video, but basically you think of what the word order would be WITHOUT inversion or subordination, and only the verb in the 2nd position will move E.g Ich werde Deutsch lernen (I will learn German) weil ich Deutsch lernen werde (because (boot) I will learn German)
Thank you Sir for the professional explaination. But do you have some more videos introducting the words order of other kind of words in the sentence, exception the Verb, like adjective, time, objective etc ? can we put them randomly or there's some rules
Generally, as long as the verb is in the right place, it makes sense and the emphasis changes. I’m working on a ‘time/manner/place’ video at the moment, so watch this space!
@@HerrFerguson Thanks for having responded to my comment. By the way, I'm native Urdu speaker and Urdu language(an Indo-Aryan language) is almost exclusively characterized by only SOV word order ignoring the Poems and verb emphasis. Anyway, Do you think that SVO languages are superior to SOV languages in terms of effectiveness of communication or it's just my myth?
@ArizAkram-wo6cz That’s really interesting! To be totally honest, I don’t know enough SOV languages to make a judgement. I’d love to learn Urdu though! Thanks for your support!
@@HerrFerguson Thanks bro, I would be glad to see you learning the world's 10th most spoken language namely Urdu, Thanks bro , and I pray to God that your Channel grows rapidly enough to hit atleast 100 thousand subscribers.
A valid question! I think the main word order rules are covered in the video and TMP is preferable, but I think it was one step too far for this video!
@@HerrFerguson of course , but i find a lot of language lerning apps whick mark a sentance wrong if you dont use TMP. So it should be mantioned for people who dont know about it and are confused why it is wrong. Great vid btw.
@darklight5316 That’s a fair point. It definitely comes up in another video, but it makes me think a video with this as a focus could help! I’ll add it to my list 👍🏼
I have a quick question. Wir konnen ein kaninchen in unserem zimmer haben. Why isnt it einem kaninchen isnt that indirect object in the sentance because WIR is the subject?
Everything was going well until deshalb = therefore is not subordinating but instead coordinating Apparently subordinating means "one clause is dependent on the other", and "therefore" is definitely a dependence :( Does anyone have a good explanation of this? Because this is horribly unintuitive
@HerrFerguson thanks! Last night after going crazy about this and doing research I came to the conclusion that taking the logical approach (the way you might with cases) simply does not work here. Instead this is more akin to remembering which verbs trigger certain cases: like dative for "hilfen" which doesn't act that way in English or French
This thing annoyed me a lot... When i look sentence structure i get scare when the verbs come in end and sometime first 😇😬😬😬😬😂😂😂 every german learner finds no sequence in german
THIS IS THE BEST GERMAN TUTORIAL ABOUT SENTENCE STRUCTURE THAT I FOUND. THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU DESERVE KOFI SUPPORT
this video deserves more views.
Danke sehr! Remember to share far and wide 😁
I am spanish speaker practicing my english and learning german

When I will come Germany 🇩🇪 I would like to thank you for your videos. You made german so easy.

The concept of inversion was very clear.
You are truly the best teacher here Mr Ferguson. Thank you so much!!!
Danke ☺️
Quite elaborative and comprehensive. Bless you.
After a long search I found this to the point Grammar for beginners, simple and absorbing

Das ist ein tolles Video
Great presentation but I wish it was a little slower for me.
Think you can change the speed of the video in RUclips if you need to slow it down. Thanks for the comment! 🙏🏼
Well Explained, Thank you so much for teaching us., ,👏Super
Question inversion is common in many latin languages as they do not start a question with the verb to do. The English way is particular to English.
Sehr Gut Dank für ihre Informationen alles
Das war super , danke für helfen 💚🙏🏻
thank you so much for this! 😭
Nichts zu danken 😊
Thanks

Amazing
Great lesson , this is same in the A1 also right ?
Yeah 😊
This was very clear and understood well. Thanks for the video!!!
Es war awesome Video,grüße aus 🇧🇦🫡
This is the best explanation I have been looking for 🤩 for over one year.
Thank you so much for explaining this sentence construction very well 🙌✨🫶🏻
this is literally the quality of a private lesson
That means the German is both SVO as well as SOV
Yes, but only SOV after a subordinating conjunction (boot word)

I have a quick question.
Wir konnen ein kaninchen in unserem zimmer haben.
Why isnt it einem kaninchen isnt that indirect object in the sentance because WIR is the subject?
Indirect object is recipient or beneficiary.
We can have a rabbit.
We = subject
What can we have?
A rabbit = direct object = accusative
I love you bruder
positive criticism here "asking questions" part imo should be much earlier in the video.
Fair. I like to keep it to the three sections:
1️⃣ No change
2️⃣ Inversion
3️⃣ Boot
But thanks for the feedback! 👍🏼
Everything was going well until deshalb = therefore is not subordinating but instead coordinating
Apparently subordinating means "one clause is dependent on the other", and "therefore" is definitely a dependence :(

‘deshalb’ causes inversion in German.
Don’t worry too much about ‘subordinating’, just think of it as a BOOT word! 🥾
