What a time to be a teenager in the 90's, this song is the epitomy of the British music scene in the mid-late 90's. It captures time, it holds it still in the minds of all those who were fortunate enough to live the experience. Hot summers, friends, carefree youth.
Summer of '98. I was 16 and was like usual the whole summer on my mountain house. I spent every single day stucked to the radio hoping to hear this song and the damn speakers to finally say who sang this song. 3 months later I was able to buy the album. Pure passion. God bless live before internet.
I was 16 too. (Feb '82). Didn't know what to make of Embrace first when I heard them but slowly grew on me. Today this is one of my favourite songs, stirs up crazy emotions.
This is amazing, I was 12 at the time, but everything else was just like you’ve described it, from the mountain house to being stuck to the radio every day. It’s beautiful and moving to discover we all share something. I hope you’re doing great now!
@@martacoghetto9484 Nice! Global world Marta! (ma non eravamo lontani mi sa lol) ;) I'm great thanks but I miss those struggling teenage years sometimes
When I look back at the 90s, I’m sure I speak for many of us who were teenagers then that we didn’t fully appreciate how great and transformative a time it was for British music and culture. Instead of looking enviously at what the 60s were, the 90s were every bit as cool. Songs like this epitomise the time and the feelings❤
This song reminds me when I literally upped sticks one day, having had enough of the situation I was in, and moved to Cornwall to start a new life. It was one of the most spontaneous and bravest things I've ever done. I moved here with a carload of stuff and a cat. All done in 6 days.
i am the fruit and veg guy in the video! we filmed this at the London city airport the day before it opened for business. my scene was filmed in Sheperds Bush market
@CareBare Hair.. i was out very late the night before with my dear friend Mark Speight (RIP😪) and went straight there in my suit.. they gave me that crap to wear to look like a fruit and veg guy. 🧔
Bought this last year on vinyl after playing it constantly in the late 90s , always my go to , turned 50 and it transported me back to those days , I would change a few things if I could go back but the rest no way enjoy it while you can
I used to play this again and again on the jukebox in the local pub back in 98, it must have driven the landlord crazy..... I wish I could go back in time and play it one last time.
music like this makes me glad to have been a teen in the 90's........so many memories...some good ,some bad...i would not trade any of them.....excellent song.
I was expecting my first child when this was in the charts. Now I’m a grandad and listening again. Just popped into my head. Amazing tune. Amazing times. The world seemed so much more positive back then.
Ha ha! By far from one of the best bands ever. Decent song, shite band. Try The Clash, New Order or The Smiths before you start talking about the best.
@@Robert-sy4bdI think everyone forgot them. Any tune recommendations for my extremely stubborn and hard to please ears and mind that you can recommend for me, please?
So much happens in all our lives, ups and downs, beginnings and ends. But we can always come back to songs like this one, and pretend for a few minutes that the clock has been turned back to a time when the world made sense.
Is now the right time to say this is the authentic sound of 90s music. Heartfelt, sensitive, empathetic. Oasis? Never got the hype there. They couldn't touch this - ever
@@saradunn6997 Britpop was born in the early 90s and died in the late 90s. Basically anything that sounds Britpop that was released in the 90s can be considered britpop. Nothing after the 90s can be called Britpop though, despite its similarities.
..had been broke up from my long-term girlriend a couple of weeks when this song came out - thought the lyrics were a sign that i should try to get back with her has they seemed to fit the situation - thank God she turned me down, funny as that sounds she stopped us both making a huge mistake as i found true happiness and i believe she has too, has we'd in all honesty outgrown each other, shame we're not friends but i wish her only well & happiness for the future, take care Debbie xx
This reminds of the breakup of my first girlfriend back in 1998. This track was all I listened too at the time. Listening to it brings back so many memories. Still sad hearing it now
I'm actually surprised that this video hasn't had more views because (a) its a sweet song and (b) I remember it being one of those omnipresent Brit Pop tunes in my youth. Okay, not as omnipresent as Blur or Oasis but still widely played. Admittedly, maybe its just nostalgia but this song still makes me tear up whenever I hear it playing.
I don't think he has a shit voice. Ordinary maybe. But the most important thing about any voice is not its essential quality but the passion that the singer is able put into it from the soul

I hope, one day Embrace come and concert in Indonesia (My country I live). greeting from Indonesia. thank you.
Vale anche per me! Io stavo ore alla radio cercando la stazione che la trasmettesse per registrarla con le vecchie cassette... Estate 1998 avevo 16 anni e cambiol la mia vita :)
I used to watch this video on a local TV station all the time in '98/'99 but I didn't know the band's name or song name. Whenever I tried to remember about this song, I got it confused with a Coldplay song. Recently I rediscovered one of my old mix tapes where I used to record random music off the radio and this song was on it. I Shazam'd it and voila!
Saw Embrace twice when I was a kid, both times at the Brixton Academy. Was in the front row singing my heart out on each occasion. This particular song will always have a special significance for me though, as it was playing the first time I pulled a bird at a house party! Love to everyone out there still listening to this great band x

I'm an old mod of 78 and I think 90s music was some of the best.
90’s truly was the best era for music 😍
certainly better than the bloody Who...no to sound ungrateful
Who knew Jimmy from Emmerdale used to be a copper 😂 absolute anthem, reminds me of a better time. Love Embrace 👊🏻
Emmerdale
Chief Super at Barton Street as well, back in the day!

Lulu Mari .....me too darlin..!
Lulu Mari well they don't market themselves like other bands cos they are happy doing their own thing, also they only do small gigs.
Video really hits home, and makes me emotional. Wish I could drop everything and meet up with my friends from the past that I haven't seen in years.
I've come to accept that they were not really my friends
most underrated band in history of music
I moved to London in 97......and found a myriad of sounds coming out from many cool record shops....Happy days...

Ladies and gentlemen: the magic of Brit Pop years. Pure and simple.
And gone forever. We still have the tunes but kids these days don't have a clue
Seen these in Glastonbury in the 90s absolute class
One of my all time favourite groups, so under rated for what they have done, some epic anthems, end of..
I miss this band had the pleasure of seeing them live twice.......sadly gone are the days of such beautiful music from real talented british bands
