I have a fully stock 2015 that I bought new with 16miles still has the original brakes at 103K I've had them off twice hoping they needed changing that's a testament to how I've driven the car. After watching this I'm about to ship it to him and say call me when it's done. All kidding aside I am secretly watching videos like this interviewing shops to build it.

My friend had an 03 I think, put some wicked pipes on it, dropped it a bit and slammed a supercharger in it. I recall he ended up destroying the motor from adding too much power but boy it looked awesome. Is yours stock or have you done work to it?
Mostly Stock different rims it does have the z71 package on it with the 5.3. if I had the excess money I Whould do what your buddy did but on a 85 Monte Carlo

Race gas, if I'm not mistaken that's cut down to around 700 on regular gas, but he's literally put like 500 miles on it in a few years, it only sees race gas and the track.

What were the main things he did to make sure that 4G63 held up? I personally have seen a couple of evos on the side of highways and heard more stories similar to these too
Pretty much exactly what I mentioned when showing the engine, the block is solid, pistons and rods are strong as hell and it was all properly assembled. I guess you can say any engine can get to this power but handling the beating is another thing. Nobody wants to be the guy you saw on the side of the road since 50lbs of boost can knock a piston and rod clean through the engine haha.

I'm not well versed in Mivec but apparently there's some known issues with it when pushing a ton of hp, here's what I found on the good ol interwebs: "The catastrophic failures tied to MIVEC when upgrading the cams and valves springs has been a known issue for many years. Higher engine acceleration rates cause the PID of the camshaft control to be unable to operate within its limits. Adding larger turbo’s that spool up above 4500 RPM negate advantages of having MIVEC control. Deleting the MIVEC altogether gave us consistent camshaft control."
@@Altek1 thank you, I have heard a similar thing from tuners and builders that over certain RPM Mivec doesn’t really matter it doesn’t do anything. Mivec is only good for like low down torque when u hit over 4000k it’s useless
Reminds me of my co-worker’s Evo 8 that his wife forced him to sell for 2 racks 💔 it need to be fixed after an accident, but man that car was fast as hell and needed breaking in especially with the new fly wheel and stage 2 clutch.

Having a 400whp Evo X MR, I can't imagine what 950 pulls like lol. I really dig the cut edits on the shifts and your reactions are epic; really translates what you're feeling lol.
I can honestly say it ruined other cars for me. It's like the feeling you get in a plane on takeoff, that inner gut feeling, but times ten. Glad you liked the edit, it took me a bit to find a good way to replicate the actual feeling and it still does it no justice. Your Evo must be crazy fun though, enjoy that boost bro!
@@Altek1 the MR's a blast and the way the DTC shifts like lightening is something else. It's my daily and I put about 60 miles per day on it...she's never let me down in service or smiles! She ain't no 950 though, that has to be molecule-changing lol.

Looks like a evo 8 engine to me with a evo 9 valve cover.
The EVO 8 and 9 look the same engine wise the only difference of EVO 9 it's a mivec engine and it says it on the cover
