I like the grid design and will have to work with it to get use to utilizing it properly. I'm surprised you haven't placed dam pumps within your dams where the water is creeping past the barrier. Of course, the pumps only send the water downhill, so you have to keep that in mind when designing dams and placing the dam pumps, but it does work to keep your protected area dry. Also, you can limit the number of production of any finished item by clicking the number on the construction bar on the left. This can reduce the resource waste on say platform mark ones and other items you won't need later in the game (like a lot of trucks or atmospheric gas blowers). You can also prioritize depot platforms to receive recycle over newly extracted raw materials by clicking the button on the depot description box on the lower right. This keeps your recycle moving through the system while assuring no interruption of production.
@@TheDutchActuary I was wondering if you've gone back to the game now that there is dynamite for blasting, the ability to level, raise or lower terrain and container ships to cross the waters. These new elements unlock at level 15, which I just opened up. I hope you come back to this game and show how all these new features work. I'm sort of flying blind which is both exciting and a little disconcerting.
As a dutchmen myself, I hope they add water pumps that actually pump away water so I can dry up some parts of my map. Since water springs are occurring in the middle of my metropolis, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it now.
Did you start you game before or after the most recent update? You shouldn't see your cities drowning anymore (although there can be the occasional river through them still - But hey, you can have houses at the water side that way!)
great to see you covering this, have bought it just finishing Hogwarts Legacy after which will focus a bit on this one, from other streams it get pretty crazy towards the end
Great Video! Very informative, makes getting started a lot easier. Just a not for future watchers: As of 01/Mar/23 road and train stops are no longer a buildable thing.
Stops are still a thing, but you don't have to produce them seperately. Instead, when 'building' a train you place the stops directly on the track. It's a LOT easier to set up routes this way (so a great quality of life update) but the principle of getting goods from A to B remains the same.
@@TheDutchActuary Indeed, it makes life so much easier now. I'm really enjoying it. And thank you, I have edited my comment, stops not being buildable is what I should have specified XD.
Not watching this yet because I want to figure it out for myself (half the fun) but man i was lost as soon as I got waste disposal. Waiting for some updates like the camera shortcuts but will def play this more
Hahaha yeah, if they ever add those in this will NOT be the best way to set things up for sure. Although my brain is already thinking about small twists to easily adjust, but still :D
Just got the game a few weeks ago, it was really cool learning what you suggested through trial and error on my own, but man I wish I knew sooner about being able to use more than one city supply depot😂
I really hope the Dev keeps pushing on this game. It looks like it has incredible long-term playability. Have the Dams been fixed yet? I know this video is older but i came here looking for how to take care of waste lol. I have an entire "landfill" i cant get rid of.
Got the game also, i hope they develop it a bit more, like some QOL things (copy paste sections for example) or, what i find a little wierd, THat a production game, has no statistics about your production nrs for every material you produce I did 1 area of production etc, for 1 city, instead of 1 big spot on the map that produces all for 3 cities, that also helped a lot with crunching the numbers
That works, but honestly that means you would have to delay your mid/endgame by a lot - and there is so many resources, you won't miss out of the things that get lost in sea :)
Interesting. I don't know about the whole trains driving through other trains thing. It bugs me. I'm also not liking trains not stopping to load/unload. Hmm, and the whole water thing is annoying as hell. I hope the developer does something with that to make it more manageable.
@@TheDutchActuary Well, there's a challenge, you could also try to fill 100% of the surface with trees, or see if you can go till resources run out. But all of that takes a lot of time. Maybe a new gameplay when the game releases
If you can terraform that planet and you are doing it to escape Earth declining weather... then you can terraform EARTH!!! .... no need to go to another planet
I would disagree, generally. The ability to reach a RICH deposit planet and dig really well does not automatically make plastics end up any larger a particle size or eliminate it's prevalence in your food environment. You can burn a place out beyond your ability to fix it.
Any questions or things to add? Let me know below!
Aluminumumumumum.
Truck and train stops are automatic now, not separate buildings
@@Gyrono Yup! That update came out just after this video was made. I covered that here: ruclips.net/video/T3-jlcXZyMA/видео.html

I'm not actually sure the dam pumps were in the game when I made this. Now you made me want to revisit it :D@@Doc_Tar

12:33 oh man that's beautiful... and horrifying... Are they planning to add vehicle collision/traffic?

you can craft an infinite amount of building and use this as a sink
To be honest im glad they havent added train signals in the game yet as your examples would be a night mare to signal correctly.

Omg this was so helpful!! I wish I woulda seen it before building my city. Most of the got drowned out by water lolols 😢
Im just gonna start over
Starting over to make an even nicer build is half the fun - good luck! :D

You can recycle waste into new materials! It's actually a massive boost to your production (just make sure you don't over-rely on that)

How can I get rid of organic waste
You can recycle this!
Updated guide? 2024 0.8 version
How do you extract fluoride?
You can just place down extractors!

I was wondering if you could get 1 million with a single city.
You definitely can! It'll take a bit of work though! :)

Send the parallelogram design to Elon.
Done! He's agreed the Mars base will look exactly like my build.
