@@seandaniel23 I hope it doesn’t sound weird when I say this, but it’s true when I say that you’ve influenced my guitar playing more than any other famous guitar player. You and Pete Honore over at Andertons.
I saw this video saturday night and used these chords at church the next morning for a song which just happens to use the very same chords. I used the stairway to heaven Am in the chorus and took what was a very boring to play worship song to another level. Great lesson Sean!
I've always been mostly watching this channel for the life advice, but I have to say I'm starting to realize there are some actual really good guitar tips sprinkled in there! Well done good sir ;)
Really good advice in a really cool manner. I dig how you make guitar more approachable for people who don't have a lot on their plate. Not rushing so hard. Very nice teaching technique.
@@Texturas75 Yes I feel honored Good advice too. I actually love learning songs but hate learning lead so I'm the reverse. But I'm practicing more lately

@@seandaniel23 You had me at, "The people's key." But seriously... I have a friend named Marc (yes spelled with a "C") that looks just like you with similar mannerisms and sense of humor. He's a good dude and good friend. But I could always use another Marc with a C doppelgänger!

Try putting your thumb over the top and playing G,C,D. The dots will land your thumb on target and your thumb will land your F shape triad on target. You will be a much more interesting player with slides and Hendrix embellishments. Aim your pinky at the notes of the 12th fret and play that major key and the relative minor. You already know all your pentatonic shapes. Play 2 notes per string and blaze into another pattern. Play the modes and stay in the same position. Flat the 7 and play the 5, (1,4,5) sharp the 3 and play the 4 (1,4,5). Your playing will be much more interesting. You will sound more natural and less formulaic. Song writing will be much easier. Staying in key doesn't matter because moving to another the key of the 4 or 5 always sounds good. There are no bad notes. Stay off the couch, keep making videos and start your own Hallmark Channel.
Very instructive.thank you.one thing though,I noticed how thin the guitar sounded.maybe these are Gibson’s cheap guitars.Anyway your Taylor sounds better and mellower

Maybe a pro adult tip you might want to talk about a little bit as well is what to do when you get to the G spot. I think you mentioned the C spot and the D spot but it’s definitely not as important.
I saw Molly Tuttle a couple of weeks ago. Her right hand is so fast, that even live it's like watching an old Bruce Lee movie where he was so fast the camera couldn't keep up. Her picking is amazing, even if it is just a blur.
Hmm...you may have stumbled across, or into the truth about this gal...who you say, plays the guitar. So, (i'd say 100%, but ya know), we're just going to call our conclusions a done deal. This Molly, is likely a person, who exists, mostly in reality, and knows at least how to play a guitar. The "fast right hand" that is "just a blur" is just a cover for not knowing how to play something. But, nice try, Mike....at least, judging by your name, you're incredibly attractive, be thankful for that. God BLESS You All.
I have a weird problem. Seems like you would be the perfect guy to ask. Whenever I play bar chords are anything really where the pinky and ring finger share a fret. My pinky always goes on top. I try to to do it the right way. But my pinky ant into it. I like learning new chord shapes. Seams the more I learn the more this is a issue. Would it be better to use my thumb on this are to just keep arguing with my pinky?
Loads and loads. Practice slowly and diligently. It’s frustrating. Keep working at it until you stop noticing. For me when I got comfortable doing something while concentrating, I would try to do it while watching tv.
I appreciate that y’all. I’m having fun learning. Feel like I’m nailing bar chords lately, are at least way better. But my ring and pinky want to play crisscross applesauce game. It works until i go from like a major bar chords to like a bar 7 chord. Thats when things get out of “hand”. ( I know that was a dad joke Mybad) Thanks for the advice guys. I’m gonna keep going at. My best friend died back in Nov. Since then I’ve been diving into learning how to actually play and understand the guitar. I like this dudes Chanel. OK, now I'm ready ... only I don't want to *Face the Day* (feels good, though). And maybe I'm not ready for it either, but at least a bit further on the way. (Which will do me fine. There are a lot of beginner adults out there in their 40`s and 50`s. They just refuse to grow up. I guess they will be stuck playing open chords forever.
I watched my Celtics trash the Bucks yesterday; Here's my take away. All intermediate humans (ages 35 until death) should stop wearing Jerseys with a 20 yr. old kid's name on the back. In terms of guitar, I don't know what I am, I just know it's not good enough. As a coffin dodger, it won't matter much relatively soon. Kevin O'Rourke
