In the UK they would actually have her not wearing makeup. On British TV they only have their actors wearing makeup if their characters are supposed to be in makeup. So waking up in the morning, for example, she’d have no makeup on.

@@Solitaire427exactly. Just because they picked makeup in neutral tones, and didn't do extra coats of mascara or a thick line of eyeliner or obvious blush (she's definitely got highlighter on), doesn't mean this is what someone who is not wearing makeup looks like. To everyone, if your skin is not this flawless when you don't wear makeup, don't worry. Her skin is not this flawless when she doesn't wear makeup either. And that doesn't make her or you any less gorgeous. If you want to see actual TV show where the actors have almost no makeup, watch the Handmaid's tale. When dressed as a handmaid, the only real makeup they used on Elizabeth Moss was darkening her lashes so that her lashes would actually show up on camera. Otherwise the women in that (who are all still gorgeous) are mostly rocking their natural uneven skin tones and dark undereye circles etc.
Actually, she used to be a successful model before becoming a SAHM. Also, she didn’t want to have any kids after marriage but the husband tampers with her pills. She’s not exactly the best mom on the show, but she tried and her POS husband is no help at all. All I’m trying to say is - she didn’t want this for herself to begin with.
They try to explain beauty isn't skin deep by showing a beautiful actress who is clearly wearing some make up complaining about her looks. Hollywood is such a great influence.
**Please note that she absolutely has on makeup** This is an episode of Desperate Housewives, a comedy drama. Gaby is former Vogue supermodel who knows she's the ish and the running gag is that she uses it to get whatever she wants.
When I was younger, in my teens and early 20s, i was like this woman. You wouldn’t even catch me taking the trash out without at LEAST mascara. I genuinely believed that i was less attractive, and therefore less “worthy” without it. I’m 30 now, and the past year i have found myself wearing make up less and less. I barely even wear mascara anymore. 2 days ago I was feeling fancy and wanted to doll myself up. I put lashes on and i immediately felt ugly. Like a clown. It was way too much for my face i felt. And i thought “wow! I used to think this was the only thing that made me beautiful!” Self love really is the key. No matter how much you change the outside, your mind will always find a way to find flaws if you don’t first mend the inside, and you’ll never be good enough until YOU decide you are.
I feel the same if I do any makeup now. Like a clown. My make up artist friend did my face once. And I wiped it all off. She wasn’t happy but I apologized and said I just feel uncomfortable with all of it. Not that she did a bad job at all. 30 too.
I'm really glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I've never worn makeup but many other women pressure me to do so. They think I'm just being immature or trying to be a pick me. It's a TV scene. Actually she is wearing a lot of makeup. I wanted a natural look for my wedding, I have never had that many layers of makeup on my face. That woman saying "that she look sick! ? What. Teaching your daughter good things is not a bad thing. It's pathetic the mother can't sacrifice something so stupid for her daughter. The whole point of makeup SHOULD be for your husband, and if you are lucky enough for him not to care, frankly you don't need it.
@Dunno683 girl don't impose your slave wife life like it's the norm. Make up SHOULD be for anyone you want. Either your husband, your wife, yourself, your family. Whoever. It's like wearing nice clothes. Nobody needs it. You can go out wearing long t-shirts with holes but you just don't. Same thing

I am in my late twenties. I have rarely worn makeup in my life (except for some big events). I never wear makeup in my day to day life. It isn't needed. It is too costly and time consuming. Maintaining it through the day is a huge hassle. Even while going out I have put on colored lip gloss and a moisturizer at most. That's the definition of dressing up for me. Most girls/young women around me only put on makeup if they feel like it. Or if they are genuinely interested in it. So it is very surprising to me that doing a full face makeup is seen as something regular/normal in the western world. That it's a norm of day to day life rather than exception. Uncomfortable clothing, high heels and obligatory makeup.... these feel so uncomfortable and restricting if women have to endure everday. I don't get these standards.

She’s not exactly the best mom on the show, but she tried and her POS husband is no help at all.
All I’m trying to say is - she didn’t want this for herself to begin with.
Because of dissatisfaction 😢

They try to explain beauty isn't skin deep by showing a beautiful actress who is clearly wearing some make up complaining about her looks. Hollywood is such a great influence.
Wish they showed her actually without any makeup
**Please note that she absolutely has on makeup**
This is an episode of Desperate Housewives, a comedy drama.
Same girl.
@@catxoxo6046I had the same experience after not wearing makeup for 3 years. It's so freeing not feeling the need to paint my face
I feel the same if I do any makeup now. Like a clown. My make up artist friend did my face once. And I wiped it all off. She wasn’t happy but I apologized and said I just feel uncomfortable with all of it. Not that she did a bad job at all. 30 too.
I feel the same!!!
I'm really glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I've never worn makeup but many other women pressure me to do so. They think I'm just being immature or trying to be a pick me. But I genuinely just feel like a clown. Idk how to explain it. Sometimes I wish I could be that woman cause it's easier to socialize. But I always stay true to myself@@Jaithesaintt

Except that she's still wearing a full face of makeup in this scene, just in really natural tones (no one's skin is this flawless without it, not even models). Google "Eva Longoria without makeup" - still gorgeous, but very very different to how she looks here.

When I was very young, women, even teenagers used foundation (heavier than modern products), pancake makeup, lots of eyeshadow, heavy lipsticks. I very seldom wear makeup. Why does media make it sound as if it's not possible to show your face in public if you don't wear makeup as a woman?
Depends on your looks. Most can probably do it easily even if they look a little "sick" in comparison.
I always had very dark eye bags and harsh asymmetrical pigmentation, if I started wearing concealer earlier I would save a lot of angst. I know most girls who wear makeup would do just fine without. But the world already has an expectation.
@@alivesliceActually is not depending on your looks as you very well said it's in the expectations and comparisons. More to do with perceptions of you than your looks

She's wearing makeup. When you're used to wearing no makeup, you're less worried about it. It's more about what you're used to.
Saying you have no makeup on with makeup on is crazy work
Nothing wrong with using makeup, but it’s whenever you becomes too dependent on it towards feeling good about yourself is where the issue lies. Because you’ll ending up making it a part of your identity towards feeling inadequate without it.
And that she's trying to explain herself draws even more attention and has the opposite effect. I guess it's for more show drama!

She clearly is wearing TONS of Make up..
