  • “How can you make sure that you still have this asset, but prevent them from doing a Prigozhin?"
Russia has come to ‘depend’ on private militaries like the Wagner Group, whose leaders could lead to more trouble down the line for Putin, says Catherine Philip, diplomatic correspondent for The Times.

i appreciate Philp, but the high liklihood thatis widely stated now by expert military strategists (american and UK former highest officers in existence) as well as some historians, that a cornered Putin like he is now, has the lowest chance of using WMD (nuke) ever, bcuz he cannot benefit from it at all now in Ru's weakened state/status. More importantly the command structure to fire a single nuke is very unlikely possible now due to the command/control system, i.e officers will not likely obey the order, bcuz they know they will be held liable for it by either russians who take power, or internatiional forces who will be entering territory potentially.

Blowing up the dam shows that Putin is willing to do anything he thinks will prevent his defeat in Ukraine, He also truly believes that the West has believed him every time he has done something and then blamed Ukraine, He thinks the West believes that Ukraine bombed the dam, SO, I think he is willing to attack the power plant in some way to cause a radiation leak, and that he can get away with saying it was Ukraine, thats why he would be willing to do that, It will be instead of using a tactical nuke, I think if he does bomb the plant in any way, even without causing a leak , NATO should respond as if he used a battlefield nuke,

Not giving all the weapons Ukraine needs and not allow them to attack Russian soil is like telling a person being bullied to fight back but he cannot move and can only use 1 of his arms. I know NATO doesn't want to escalate the war, but they are not really giving Ukraine much of a fighting chance to beat the Russians.

_Something important to know, for all who are interested in history and/or support Ukraine:_
_Rus' ought not to be confused with modern “Russia”, which derives its name from the Rus' but historically is a completely different state, which almost all its existence was at war with the Rus'._
_Just like the Holy Roman Empire was actually Germany, “Russia” is actually Muscovy, despite their best attempts to convince everybody otherwise._
_Its name “Russia" received only in the 18th century, when Peter I simply changed Muscovy’s name into the “All Russian Empire” (Russia originates from Rosia, name used by the Greek Orthodox Clergy in regards to Rus')_
_Under the reign of Cathrine II Muscovites where even punished for continuing to identify as Muscovites, and were forced to call themselves Russian._
_Lands that Russia (Muscovy) claims were part of the original Rus', but actually weren't, are Novgorod, Suzdal, and Ryazan, since in historical texts of XI-XII centuries they are mentioned as separate entities from Rus'. They can be considered parts of extended Rus', although their culture was distinct from main Rus'._
_In 1493, Muscovite duke Ivan III appointed himself to be the Great Ruler of All Rus'. No other kings acknowledged that. From that point on Muscovy started to make false claims on Rus' ownership._
_“Russia” is an offshoot of Ukraine and not the other way round, despite what Soviet and Russian (Muscovite) historians have been trying to say for years. A Slavicised Finnic, then later, Mongolized offshoot. Kyiv was a developed cultured capital when Moscow was just another swamp village._
_Germany used to call itself the Holy Roman Empire, that didn’t mean they became the Romans, and all of a sudden had a right to claim whole of Italy and its history, but yet, that’s exactly what Russia (Muscovy) did in regards to Rus'-Ukraine, which is a horrible injustice!_

As a Russian speaker, The more I peruse the debates on both sides the clearer it is: On the Ukranian side there are 100's of millions of people exchanging opinions and ideas, throughout Europe and the US. On the Russian side there is a few million stuck in a nationalistic prism, with little means to freely express their real feelings, and another few million who simply arent allowed to offer up ideas by default. Russian society simply doesnt have a voice and therefore a means to properly transfer ideas and information from the bottom to the top. This is clearly illustrated by Wagners attempted Coup and the support they had from Russian civilians (the idea that a population in a Russian city would openly cheer an attack on the kremlin??). The truth is that Russia has such a tiny amount of expertise and creativity to fall back on now, because Putin has lost the domestic argument for the war. But also a tiny (and rapidly shrinking) economy and to back it up.

From what Prigozhin said about the reasons for the invasion, I don't think he really wants to fight Ukraine. It is possible that "we will go back" etc was just to calm the waters with Putler.
There will be plenty of better paid work for the Wagners than Ukraine.

Putin using the lame excuse that "The USA set a precedent for the use of nukes in 45'." As if that gives him the go ahead to use them now. The use of nukes by the USA in 45 was horrific. A deperate method to defeat the Japanese who seemingly were all willing to fight to the death until nobody was left alive. I think the Americans learned that using nukes is shameful and is not to be repeated, whereas Russia has not and that makes them more dangerous than America as far as using nukes goes.

Just take a look at some of the videos of the AFU assaulting the orc positions. The AFU should have had aviation last year, instead they hardly have air defense. It is shameful.

where does this always come from, that Prigozhin "turned on Putin"?
Prigozhin sat in Ukraine without follow-up order for his "business".
His "march for justice" was a promotion campaign for new orders, ammo, resources and cash.
As a side effect he wanted to benefit from taking on two unpopular and unsuccessful top military leaders.
What made Putin shaken is, that he realized, that he cannot trust his real regular army and that it is fractioned.
Prigozhin however he thinks he can calculate and control ("I financed him and hope he hasn't stolen anything...").
We don't know how much command structures of Wagner are oriented towards Prigozhin and depend on him.
If there is and remained significant loyalty, Prigozhin remains and got even more one of Putin's most important assets - not at least with the diverse hybrid warfare campaigns out of St.Petersburg. Those could turn against Putin quicker, easier and even more effective than an army.
So - yes - they might now be arch enemies.
But as we know from Mafiosi such can work well together for common evil goals.

Much shall have been stolen also by Russians as well as Ukraine has some Russian gear taken from them ..But F16s are up to date Jets which Ukraine just would need many months of training on as they have more so technology to know about within the workings .

It's not the west's best fighter Jet, everyone is upgrading to F35s now and Ukraine apparently ain't getting those. Also, fighter jets have many similaritys, so a Ukrainian pilot used to flying MIGs isn't going to find it 'too' hard to adjust to an F16, but they do need to adjust to the way they fly and learn some new systems. Apparently F16s are quite easy to fly.

Very poor handling despite having a much larger air force than the Ukrs should have achieved air superiority in the entire war but of course it did not due to poor training of its pilots, poor clunky Soviet style doctrine. which emphasizes command and control over Flexibility. its teling that no one has air superiority over the battlefield due to the abundant SAMs, the incompetency of the Russian air force and the Ukrs air force does not have enough planes to achieve air superiority. and yah this is hampering the Ukrainian offensive very nuch.

Dictatorships are inherently unstable and often don’t transfer power easily (many dictators won’t even discuss the topic of a successor, and Russia has proved it is sloppy and immature with their nuclear weapons, rattling them over every bit of nonsense (McDonalds pulling out is….act of war! I'm surprised the reporter doesn't have a good perspective of the time needed to prepare the stage for Kherson.
William Spaniel recalled recently that after the Normandy landing at the start of June. It took the allies >2 months (August) before they could break through the 2nd and 3rd layers of the German front lives.
The Russians are very well dug in; their trench networks are mapped, so all can see their extent.
If the Ukrainians can grind down the Russian logistics (in the rear,) the efforts will provide no glorious headlines, no exciting videos, but it will undermine Russian effectiveness much more strongly than any frontal assaults.

now the west is starting to do a ton: BUT that was slow coming and there was massive hesitation & apparent timidity in the commnications approach toward RU both before the invasion and after. So when i see comments like this and 'hopefully ukr will retake', i realize ppl like u simply lack any sensibility re history, strategy and decisions. This is a war of civilization vs anticivilization, and that means the west has no option but to maximally make sure Ukr prevails. THAT could mean a military intervention ultimately! Do u really not grasp this, bcuz your comments make you sound like u have no clue as to how grave this situation is and what's actually at stake. Watch some Silicon Curtain vid's and watch some interviews by various journo's with Breedlove, and other american as well as UK military officers.
