- Act 1 - Song 3 of Liza's At The Palace
This is Liza Minnelli's latest Tony Award winning concert. Liza is back and better than ever! Enjoy everyone :)
I do not own this clip or claim to own any part of it. It is solely the property of Jubilee Time Productions LLC
I've noticed many negative comments about Liza and her performance. We have to remember that she is older and her voice is a lot deeper and huskier than it used to be. Also, she had brain encephalitis and the doctors said she would never sing again, and she was able to sing again. Like a previous comment said, she has been through a lot in her life and being able to recover from brain encephalitis is pretty amazing.
She's still got IT. I saw the show on Bway and she was sensational. This song is wonderful character song---and she delivers!
We can support Kristin as well as support Liza without bashing the ASTOUNDING talent of both women.
Liza is a real 'old school' performer, professional, but making it look so easy, which I am damn sure it is not!
Exactly!!!
I'd pay money to watch/hear her recite the alphabet. She is a living legend. Meanwhile, she is ACTING and playing a character, which is reflected in the singing of the song. Good grief critics.
Liza will never go out of style!!! Can still sing a song and play comedy! Love you work Liza never leave us xoxo
I have loved Liza since CABARET in 1972...have seen her MANY times in concert....I have no words...she is the ultimate! LOVE YOU LIZA!😊👍❤🌈
This was outstanding! What a performer! I had only ever seen Kristin sing this song. I love both performances. Wow!
"You asked for it! You asked for it!" (GUNSHOT) LOL
she sings this character song from the vantage point of a mature woman who has lived...i love it!
This performance by far is amazing!!! I absolutely love Judy and Liza
As an autonomous human being with a still incredibly large fan base and a strong drive to do what she loves best, Liza has EVERY right to perform until she falls over and dies. Her true fans will love her always and wouldn't judge her because she's "passed her prime". She can do whatever the hell she wants, and why is that? Because she's Liza FUCKING Minnelli :D
This is wonderful! Liza is an amazing performer and brings this character alive beautifully ❤️❤️
she's so amazing!!! literally just brought me to tears!!!! so much talent and emotion!!!!
A wonderful performance by a legend.
Kristin does a wonderful job, but the two interpretations are different. Liza sounds like a woman who has LIVED, whereas Kristin has a sweeter delivery. I see this as a real character song & LiZa delivers!
ultimately its about entertainment, and in my perspective: both kristin and liza are both amazing entertainers! they're different but i get as much pleasure listening to liza and watching her perform as i do with kristen...
She is great
Has anyone else mentioning her "channeling" Carol Channing listened to the original performance of hers on the Perry Como show? So different but you can see where she got some of the inspiration for sure
Legend.
Like an old S-Class, superb
oh, don't be childish... Kristin Chenoweth is a great singer! Because someone likes her version better and you love this version of Liza doesn't mean that the other opinion is "wrong" or that Kristin is a bad singer.
I love both Kristin's and Lisa's performance so much
Makes me really happy everytime after a break up.
@GavinRoskamp Liza has said that she has never considered herself a singer. She considers herself a storyteller. And, in my opinion, Kristin sings it better, but Liza is 1000x better at telling the story.
Liza is a very beautiful Lady and Soul! She has been and always will be! To all the negative comments made here, I hope your not all negative throughtout your everyday life! " Negative = Negative! Positive = Positive! When you think negative, you draw in negative energy! Liza Minnelli, "You are SPECFABULOUS!"
JOY...sheer JOY!!!!!
You are the best! Out of love is a good thing, too. Love you Liza!
Liza is channeling Carol Channing who also sang this
She's honoring Carol Channing.
great song LIZA!!! Bravo girl!!! ALEX.
liza is legend she only just turned 65 she been thru alot, and shouldnt have retired when her mother died she was very young when judy died
I've seen a few LM performances of this period, that in truth, I wish I'd missed. This, is not one of them. Tremendous.
Oh for god sake! As if people mention her vocal quality! She is completely out of Kristen's league! This Lady has a one in 10 billion voice and It's much better to watch someone perform a song than it sound brilliant but you have no idea what's going on! This is a comedy piece, Liza makes it hilarious. End of story.
Not to mention....she's Liza!
Yes, it's a character piece and she does one helluva job. Plus, she's a woman, who as we know, has LIVED and she delivers the piece deliciously! Saw the show here in Manhattan at the Beacon and she was wonderful
I've love Liza since "Liza with a Z" on tv back in the olden days!
incredible
It's so funny. I enjoy it very much. :DD
Bye bye baby goodbye. 5:33 wish I could find the version she performed on Inside the Actors Studio
I loved it! Liza is awesome :)
Ha :D If you had done that with the mic, I'd buy it :P Thanks for posting more great music :) ♥♥♥ to the Grandest Duke
Haha aww thanks babe :D
♥
By the way the same theater her mom used to perform
@GavinRoskamp Liza was a star long before Kristin was. Liza is the bigger idol and always will be. I love Kristin too, but Liza is the Queen.
Is anyone able to give me a brief synopsis of the Two on the Aisle and this song where it comes in the musical and what is happening?? thankyou x
It was a revue....so song was between sketches.
@GavinRoskamp She's in her mid-sixties. Her vocal cords aren't what they were, she knows that. And they weren't that much to begin with. So she has to act her songs as best she can, and she does. I mean...well, check out her Oscar-winning performance if you aren't convinced by this.
Kristin Chenoweth - like Minnelli's contemporary Barbra Streisand - has a perfect voice and gorgeous vocal skill. So, she really doesn't have to act. And she doesn't, much. At least not with this song.
@stavinchain How dare you, Liza is not a joke and the only reason Judy's career ended was because she died! Get your facts straight
@yougottagetagimmick i feel kristin did act well with this song in her "nights at the pops" video to it. she was beating and dragging around the body of the man
Her face at 5:32 !!!! =D
Now, I'm not saying Liza's a joke, but I do believe that Kristin's better...
Ermm, I am 24 so that's a fairly "youngish" age...and I have no idea who this Chenoweth person is, nor do I care. "Well"? "Correctly"? You make singing and performing sound like a structured science. It's art and you've unfortunately got no clue what you're talking about. Either that or you've simply used incorrect words to get your pointless point across
This does not help with gun violence. 😪😪😪.
Prayers.
Kristen, in case you didn't notice, does a really "good job" of it, but! She fails to make each word meaningful, to originate each word as Liza can, to actually mean what she is singing. She is not fully using her wonderful talents. She is stuck in her ego. Not Liza, with all the public embarassment she has endured, she is fearless on stage.
Yeah I think you need to have some shitty things happen to you to be the most fearless performer you can be.
Perhaps I was not quite accurate in my expression. Liza should have retired gracefully around age 47. Is that clear enough?
Sorry....this is a wonderful song, and an almost-adequate performance...but Liza should not have continued performing to such an old age...she should have retired gracefully around the time her mother's career ended, because she has turned herself into only a sad joke as a reflection of her family's talent. Kristin Chenoweth's versions are only better because of her more youthful voice...but my favorite performance of this (still unavailable?) is Carol Channing's on the Flip Wilson show (1972?)
kristin's better. end of story. my little sister idolizes this woman and her mother and sister lorna.....i understand why judy kind of..but why liza? really? she ruined this song. kristen did such an amazing job on this song and i watched and was horrified. she was better as a kid and should have ended a long time ago. sorry liza at least your pretty
