- The plaintiff rented a garage-type place from the defendant to open a fruit stand. Unfortunately, the plaintiff alleges the defendant took over half the space without telling him, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant claims the plaintiff is making excuses because he got cold feet and decided to move out last minute. The defendant is countersuing for the money he spent to repair the space.
The defendant doesn't make a contract with the stranger that's renting from him, but makes a contract with his own employees.....yea, that cemented that he's liar.
It's a CONtract!!!

The outcome of this case was very easy to determine from the moment they entered the courtroom & the smerk on the defendant's face. He thought he was going to get away with scamming these brothers. This is one of those cases where I wish judge Milian would award punitive damages to give this shady operator the heads up on being a scammer.
The defendant said the pictures the plaintiff showed the judge was stuff that he had put there after the renter had left. So...if it was after the plaintiff already vacated the property , he wouldn't have an opportunity to take any pictures. He was lieing and the judge knew it. Busted!
Even if it were true if he made it unavailable during the period of paid rent. So he’s hardly entitled to keep rent; let alone get more money out of them.
So many people make good money ripping off others, that was one of them

That seems like an incredibly stupid decision. If the defendant were telling the truth to leave valuable property in an area where people would likely be coming in and out, that’s not like a person selling something in a shop that’s personal property he’s lying.
That wasn't a good place to sell fruit anyways. Besides, the landlord would do nothing but annoy customers with his construction equipment. They dodged a bullet by getting their money back!

How does a security deposit represent two months rent? Did I hear that correctly?
Sometimes, a landlord may ask for 2 months of security.
@@ddinottia39 he paid $2400. $1200 was for January, then she said - and the rest represents two months rent for security deposit. So the rent is $600? Then why was $1200 for January?....and beyond that, a security deposit is put in escrow and returned minus damages after the lease agreement ends. It is never used for rent. I know she said "represents" so I think she was implying what you said, that the landlord used the amount of two months rent for the deposit. So then why was January $1200 and not $600?
@@LoveChild71well, actually rent would be 800 in that case..800 for January, plus 2 months security (1600) which is 2400.
@@tessawhite7962 exactly, that's why I'm confused. Maybe I didn't hear that right? Because I recall her saying $1200 for January and $1200 (two months rent) security deposit.
