I have been shopping for a ‘24 or ‘25 Passport Black Edition. Refreshed ‘26 due out first qtr ‘25. I have shopped a 500 mile radius from ATL. I have shopped used with less than 5k miles. Asking prices are about 10% off MSRP. I decided to shop new the end of last month (and will try again this month), dealers will not go less than 10%, even on the ‘24s on the lot. That means the used ones are too close in price to new ones. Yes, there are some new offers greater than 10% off MSRP but the dealer adds offset the discount.

That’s true. Dealerships are desperate to sell. Every time I go to Toyota for a simple maintenance with my 2024 4Runner, I get a few representative trying to convince me to trade-in and get a new vehicle. I am sticking to my trustee 4Runner.
The market is bizarre - I bought a used ‘21 Camry about 8 months ago- it was totalled 3 months later. I’ve been looking for another one - same exact car but prices are now $2k more than 8 months ago wtf!!
Whenever I talk to the financial folks on extended warranty, I feel bad as I never add anything. But the feeling is gone once I walk away with brand new car.
2025 is only two months away. Best time to buy a vehicle is always at the end of the year when dealers are trying to clear their lots for next year's models and end the year on a high note. Do you mean wait until December, 2025? That's a long wait.

I agree with everything he said except the extended warranty. Unless you are getting a Kia or Hyundai, buy one. I have never regretted getting them, especially on a European car.
The Highlight for me is when he suggested you can name your price on what you want to pay for the extended warranty. I have heard of friends having success with this as well
At this point keep your old cars/paid off vehicle until you can't. If you need to buy give yourself time to find a good private party vehicle and get a pre purchase inspection.
Does that go for buying used from a private seller, too? We're strongly considering paying cash for a 2016 4Runner now that's super clean and owned by an older gentleman and he's about $4,000 under what most dealers want for the same thing. No accidents, clean title, and full service records! Seems hard to pass up, even right now.
I would get it. I was looking to buy directly from the owner who basically took care of the car it’s way cheaper than going to the dealer +plus you can’t always tell what Carl they’ll sell it to you if it’s used.
Get preapproved at a credit union bc dealers will add percentage points to make money off you in a hidden way. Know the value of you're trade in and the vehicle you're purchasing ahead of time and as he said walk away. I bought my last 2 vehicles after leaving multiple times. Be firm and know the figures for everything and don't let them trap you.
My lease is up in March. For the hell of it I texted a salesperson who had hounded me saying "no matter how much I have left on my lease they can give me an awesome price," Well I don't fall for that. I planned to play with the guy. So I asked him what the buy rate was on the payment. Also I wanted 7% off msrp. I wanted the price with no ad ons but the price With tav, title and license. Also asked what the doc fee was and said I expect $200. His reply in text was they do no deduction on msrp but go by a standard tier 1 auto lease. And that leases dont have msrp like finances. Their doc was $250. And they have a $810 for non-tax lease fees. What are your thoughts on this. I did lease my current car there. Thanks in advance
If you already have a vehicle to trade in for a new one you hold all the leverage. You don't need a new vehicle, you want a new vehicle. Walk into the dealership, ask them what their best price is. If you don't like the price, give them your number and walk away.
Even with a 10k off MSRP you are still overpaying. It’s not like the quality is better, better reliability, or way better mpg. So how is the extra 20k on a car now versus pre Covid prices make any sense???
Great video. The only thing that bothered me was your use of “I assure you.” To me, that’s a turn off. You really can’t assure me that if I use your techniques, I will get the good deals that you did. You’re obviously an “insider” (at least in the experience category of car buyers), and that gives you the advantage over most of us when negotiating.
Has anyone on here looked into starting an exotic car rental business using other people’s cars? Saw a webinar last night and it sounds like a good business with little downside. Investors provide the cars and do a 50/50 split on the rental money and the drivers provide the insurance.
It be cool to see you nogotiate a deal in real time in a video. Iv been trying to find a 4 runner for the last year and have been going through hell to get a decent deal.
Depends. Ford Mustangs for 2025 are increased 3k for the sme car. I got mine for 3k under sticker at the end of summer, so that is a 6k difference. I doube I can do better than that witha new car. Perhaps used market provides other good options. It depends on what you want. For performance models, dealers know we want our cars and it never gets as good as non performance cars that are just cars.
Additionally, current new vehicles are just poorly made. Corporate bean counters rule the day so the use of cheap components are killing safety and reliability. Historically solid manufacturers are now having embarrassed with recalls and breakdowns; Honda and Toyota to mention just two.
I haven’t bought a new truck since 2011. It’s been paid off 10 years and I don’t plan on buying the new garbage they are making. I don’t need a 20” screen. I don’t even need a stereo. No auto lock or door. I don’t need back up cameras or parking assist. I don’t need window washer fluid warning or a light in my mirror that tells me when someone is beside me. I don’t need automatic and I don’t need cruise control. I don’t need a built in ladder in my tailgate and I don’t need a sunroof. Trucks are garbage now.
You're not helping the overall economy buy not buying stuff you don't need. And you call yourself American? 😄. Just kidding of course. Good for you, and others like you, buying just what you need. Agree with quality of vehicles has declined so much.
Cool story. Of course you don't need any of that stuff but once you try them, they all do add up to an overall better (driving) experience. Enjoy your 2011 truck. I am sure it's great.
When a ranger raptor goes for $35-40k slightly used, then we'll know we're back to normal. ANY performance or luxury vehicle does not hold value in a normal world for two reasons: 1) only rich and/or dumb can afford these overpriced vehicles new, and there is a large drop to the next tranche of incomes that are potential buyers, and 2) it should always be assumed that performance vehicles were driven hard, and with more vehicles being of the higher performance type now and not just traditional sports cars, this means a significant amount of all vehicles should be assumed to be worn in beyond what they should be for their mileage
This is helpful. My brother has filled out Credit Apps at THREE Dealerships the last few weeks- they didnt even RUN his credit after he gave them the info!!! I myself would guess thats Illegal! Have you ever heard of this?
Honestly they were doing him a favor. If his credit is that poor to get turned away three times then he needs to focus on rehabing it, and having multiple hard credit pulls one after another would only make it even worse.
I think it will be good In 2025, but right now is a great time to buy, all the new 2025 just Hit The lots, and the dealerships are empty, and their panicking.
Curious what your thoughts are on 5th gen 4Runner prices 2 years from now. Would love to get an off road premium or pro (for a great color like cavalry blue) but I can’t justify paying more than 30-35 for one.
Automakers are about to experience a whole lot of Karma. Serves them right for spiking new car prices way beyond the reach of too many. Without customers qualifying for financing they have no hope of selling a new car. Sadly the Dealerships have to suffer first before the damage gets to the Greedy Auto Manufacturers. I'm retired and decided to get off the treadmill and not even buy another vehicle, I get along fine with Rideshare and carefully planning my trips for less than I used to pay for Car Insurance every month.

MSRP's gotta come down. I do not care for all the fancy tech, and majority of the tech is why a 20k car now costs 30k+. Like if I could go buy a 10 year old civic si brand new 0 miles on odometer for 15k I would absolutely do that.
I’m planning right now to buy a new car around 2030, that’s when the new tires on my current vehicle will need replaced. And then I will probably be ordering one so I’m not paying for options that I don’t want.
I work with my wife same start time ending time is unpredictable cause we are local truck Driver, I was think to get a third gen Tacoma but i don’t know what to do, I think is more want than needs. Sometimes i get off from work hours earlier than her and just wait…… any advice!?
If you just need a set of wheels to take you home on those days, it's definitely a want rather than a need. Not that I don't understand. Vehicles are fun and they give us freedom but add up taxes, registration, insurance and maintenance expenses to the price of the Tacoma and see what it will cost you.
In my younger years of selling vehicles for a new dealer in town... we hate phone call sales, 90% are just BS customers and a waste of time, our sales manager isn't gonna answer 100 deals a day for a phone-in. The best way to buy a vehicle at the price point you think the vehicle is worth, not WHAT you think it should cost is... HOMEWORK. Get your financing done at HOME...then come into your local dealer, and show them you're gonna drive that vehicle home if the price is right.... it's that simple folks, sales manager will take alosst if the sale # isn't looking good. Shouldn't spend more than 1 hr at the dealership if you already have your homework done.
I'm 100% all for going to an auto broker. I can't look for any new cars outside of CA because of their stupid laws. A CPO vehicle, maybe. It depends on the mileage.
Being a competent adult I don't need weak general meme methods. Wise adults don't want new vehicles unless they're rich, because vehicles are tools first and toys second. I let other people enjoy their financial mistakes but I don't copy them.
Interest rates don't just decline after an election. They fall when the Federal Reserve reduces the Fed Rate which allows lenders to reduce their rates. The economic policies a new administration ushers in may encourage the Federal Reserve to reduce rates but that will happen slowly and incrementally over a year or more. Now if the manufacturer offers a 0% or close finance rate incentive then take it if you have to finance the vehicle.
Because of the people still buying high price tag Tacoma... Toyota will think it's better selling less number but still earn more money... this will never end.
Too bad none of this applies to Honda. Our local Honda dealership doesn’t have any vehicles and can’t get them. They sell out so fast. Ever since Toyota’s reputation has bombed, it appears Honda is the more desirable brand. In my location anyway.

The AI going to be far more important to automotive than even pure play BEV so "wait indeed" is an understatement #generative_ai is just that "makes things" won't need Model Years after that as "first with AI Years" will be how this is measured as these vehicles now "learn"(become accustomed to out habits/anticipatory) so this is far more than vehicle autonomy which has already been proven out with Google #waymo add to that #robots definitely no need to waste money on anything powered by gasoline at the moment...if ever😊😊
One thing that seems underdiscussed is the impact that a second Trump presidency could have starting next year. Trump keeps talking about tariffs which could put foreign automakers at a huge disadvantage and drive up costs on Toyota/Honda/Kia/Hyundai/etc, removing competitive pressure on domestic producers to get prices down to a level people can afford.

Go into the dealership with YOUR price. That’s all that matters. If they can’t meet it, move on. We can afford to wait, but not dealerships
Went to the dealership to buy a oil filter for my 21 tundra $6 not bad. Walked the show room floor. Fully load Camry 48k and Corrolla 44k. No way
Must’ve been a GR Corolla, but yes, pretty insane.
Corollas were 15-17k in 2015...
9 years later they're more than double... ridiculous
I seen Toyota Pruis over 40 grand no thanks

Bought this summer beautiful outback with big discount because there was a generation change and the red color. All cash, really happy having no any monthly payments.
I don’t get the opportunity to do what you are suggesting Untamed as I live on a rock in the middle of the Pacific (O’ahu) and there is only one Toyota dealer on O’ahu.
I’m currently sitting outside on my hotel balcony enjoying the beautiful morning and sounds of the ocean on that same rock 😂

Exellent advice! I would add that if the sales associate starts playing power games don't be afraid to request someone else.
Thanks brother! Great point to add, thank you. 👌 💯
There’s no such thing 0% financings , the dealer change at least $2500 more
That’s true. Dealerships are desperate to sell. Every time I go to Toyota for a simple maintenance with my 2024 4Runner, I get a few representative trying to convince me to trade-in and get a new vehicle. I am sticking to my trustee 4Runner.
they shouldn't be hounding you like that. Unprofessional
The market is bizarre - I bought a used ‘21 Camry about 8 months ago- it was totalled 3 months later. I’ve been looking for another one - same exact car but prices are now $2k more than 8 months ago wtf!!
New model year
Great advice! Keep up the good work my friend! 👊
I am fully in the market for a 3/4 Chev but I refuse to pay $54k for a trim one step up from a work truck.
@@adampecore6917 yeah that’s a tough pill to swallow… I’m with you

Whenever I talk to the financial folks on extended warranty, I feel bad as I never add anything. But the feeling is gone once I walk away with brand new car.
All done buying. Keeping my awesome vehicle that has no issues. As long as it gets me there, no need to support corporate greed.
2025 is only two months away. Best time to buy a vehicle is always at the end of the year when dealers are trying to clear their lots for next year's models and end the year on a high note. Do you mean wait until December, 2025? That's a long wait.
Not gonna get any deal on a Sienna. I have been looking for awhile. Almost impossible to even pay MSRP and I have always refused to pay MSRP.
Toyota is about to get a attitude adjustment; hang tight, it will happen.
@@flashnmb1 You are right. I keep saying this bubble is going to pop. It must as what goes up, must come down. Cars, houses, groceries, insurance, etc. It will fall and I believe after the election or inauguration of Trump, it will come about soon thereafter.
I was looking to buy directly from the owner who basically took care of the car it’s way cheaper than going to the dealer +plus you can’t always tell what Carl they’ll sell it to you if it’s used.
great info, thanks
@@samcaudill2996 thanks for watching! 🙏
Thank you banks for looking out for the buyer
Great video!
@@Dcjuniebeats thanks brother 🙏
Just subscribed ! Great content!
@@alberthall52 thanks for the support man! 🙏
Additionally, current new vehicles are just poorly made. Corporate bean counters rule the day so the use of cheap components are killing safety and reliability. Historically solid manufacturers are now having embarrassed with recalls and breakdowns; Honda and Toyota to mention just two.
I HAVE to before December 31 because TAXES… and I still can’t afford/don’t want to buy one
Thanks for this breakdown
Well said. But they won’t hear us and want bigger profits with gadgets that will need repair later feeding the dealerships.
I’ll take a CD player over laptop looking screens and all the tech bs now
Cool story. Of course you don't need any of that stuff but once you try them, they all do add up to an overall better (driving) experience. Enjoy your 2011 truck. I am sure it's great.
It's nice to keep it simple, but how will you know without a screen and internet connection if it's raining outside?
When a ranger raptor goes for $35-40k slightly used, then we'll know we're back to normal. ANY performance or luxury vehicle does not hold value in a normal world for two reasons: 1) only rich and/or dumb can afford these overpriced vehicles new, and there is a large drop to the next tranche of incomes that are potential buyers, and 2) it should always be assumed that performance vehicles were driven hard, and with more vehicles being of the higher performance type now and not just traditional sports cars, this means a significant amount of all vehicles should be assumed to be worn in beyond what they should be for their mileage
That’s going to be when the thing is clapped out if you’re waiting for it to be in the 30s.
Bro thats nothing in Canada Ontario used F150 from 2017 are going for 45k with 100km in them
I don’t think you understand the difference between dealership greed and inflation.
Curious to see how tariffs effect auto prices. Might actually be better to buy before the end of the year.
@ no you didnt read this correctly. His credit is FINE. They never RAN it but turned him down anyways
In Florida this only applies to GM, Chrysler.
My 2016 acura engine gave out, and now im daily driving my 03 4runner v8... I found my next new ride. It's just a waiting game now for the price and apr to drop!!!
Change your oil, no other reason that Acura engine gave out. No longer than 5k miles
I hear what you are saying but you’re saying because of the overstocking inventory however look at companies like jeep Delanty they got jeep still sitting on the lot from 2022 2023 and 2024 2025. They would’ve done that and they still have thosethree years ago
Excellent video. Thanks.
MSRP's gotta come down. I do not care for all the fancy tech, and majority of the tech is why a 20k car now costs 30k+. Like if I could go buy a 10 year old civic si brand new 0 miles on odometer for 15k I would absolutely do that.
Did you kno a extended warranty company.for new car.to avoid the dealer.
That Sequoia is very nice . 👌

People forget WE are the ones with the power - we have the money. We can always just walk away
@ thanks for your response, That what im seeing and i can afford it, but i dont think i will spend the money on that.
Dealers don’t want to put things in writing until you are at the dealer . Makes it sound easy but that’s not how it works.
@@JorgeG-l7s I’ve never once had an issue getting deals in writing, in fact I’ve never been denied that request. Might be the way you’re asking.

Not if you have a 2018-2021 Tundra. Those prices will hold steady the next few years as long as miles are below 75,000
Being a competent adult I don't need weak general meme methods. Wise adults don't want new vehicles unless they're rich, because vehicles are tools first and toys second.
I let other people enjoy their financial mistakes but I don't copy them.
What do you think will happen with the lease market? Any advice on how to get a better deal on a lease?
My vehicles are paid for, I dont need an over priced,,priced, over rated, vehicle. Thanks just the same.😊
Remember that the extended warranty starts then, not after the factory 1 is done.
That’s a great point to add 👌
What about getting a 2025 camry? I thought december would be a great time to buy.

But what about my credit is bad like 530 but I make 6 figures gross a year, and owed little bit on the current car I have, will I be able to get it finance thro the dealership ?
The AI going to be far more important to automotive than even pure play BEV so "wait indeed" is an understatement #generative_ai is just that "makes things" won't need Model Years after that as "first with AI Years" will be how this is measured as these vehicles now "learn"(become accustomed to out habits/anticipatory) so this is far more than vehicle autonomy which has already been proven out with Google #waymo add to that #robots definitely no need to waste money on anything powered by gasoline at the moment...if ever😊😊

High tech = low quality seems to be the norm now for newer cars.
I'm waiting to buy a new car until they get better. Thnking the year 2045 will be about right.
Just imagine no one buy cars for the next ten years. Car price will drop.
