Good job with the door strikers and fender trimming Rudy! The Comanche is looking awesome. Looking forward to seeing you and Janelle in your next video! 👍
What I've found when lifting my Cherokee is that the wheel base shortens the more you lift. At 4.5" of lift (currently) the wheelbase shortens about 3/4". Doesn't sound like much, it all happens in the front. By using adjustable control arms, it enables you to re-center the front wheel in the opening. Maintaining the original wheelbase also helps keep your factory handling even when lifting. Hope this helps. Looking forward to more on this build, God bless, stay well.
Yep that’s why adjustable control arms are part of the lift kits for Jeep’s, most people unfortunately match the stock length instead of centering the wheel.
That’s the reasoning I used when I lifted my ‘97 TJ. 2” was my limit w/o getting adjustable lower control arms. My budget dictated that I use a 2” kit and my Dana 35 rear axle dictated that I use 33” tires so the 2” kit worked. 4” kit would def require the adjustable arms. Next, PLEASE cut that dang headliner out 😂
Here in New Zealand we are one of the most regulated vehicles countries in the world, everything has to be certified, you are not even allowed to fart in your own car unless you pay a certifier to check it out and certifie its safe to drive
The Comanche is really looking good! I think I know what you were saying in an earlier video: Finishing projects is important for content. Cool seeing 2 important things being done in one video. Great stuff Rudy!!
Love the end of the video. Backing out, ground cable still attached 😂😂. Happens to the best of us . No harm no worries, glad it wasn’t something more serious that could have did some damage or injured someone.
Omg the door is closing! As the video started and you were in the truck saying what you were going to do to the fenders, I said to my husband, “I wonder if he got the door fixed?”… then you exited the truck and tried to close the door… I said, “nope” ! Omg we laughed so hard! But you said you were fixing it! Yay! It looks and works great! Awesome Rudy!! Loved the video! ❤🫶😉🥰
As for the headliner, a few well-placed magnets will do until you figure out what you want to do with it. We had a '63 corvair and it only took one magnet right in the middle to keep the headliner off of everyone. 😉
Even the sound is off. ..it doesnt matter, cause you manage it, you will fix it, and the best is that we see you again, making somethin cool on the Comanche, security with the doors, and security with the wheels... Thanks for sharing Rudy!
Am living in Germany, yeah nothing to do hier, no place ! Whatever, do You know Rudy what means RAD in german? Or you did it cause you know it? Rad means wheel. ..! Funny. Hey, is the Chevy C10 still on the road , with your happy brother? Servus. ...
Great video. My favorite part was actually the Walls ad. Your a great face for them. Hope to see more manufacturers realize the potential there is in investing in you.
Rudy I am glad the doors shut now since safety is very important. I really enjoyed seeing Colin make a few appearances in the video. He should have been wearing your merchandise though in my opinion. I am looking forward to your next video
I, as an older guy, see the combination of advanced 🫵🏽fabrication skill, and carefully, knowing, what your challenge is. It’s a very interesting dynamic to observe,🙆🏻♂️ because, of the personal forces around you.💥 Like, you can pair and assist, any of the best fabricators, and in your own facility, your blazing a trail. It is because, I’m a jeep xj owner, lookin’ to hand off a 2000, Cherokee, and studying👈🏽 style. I’ve scribed to your channel..!🤔
Rudy, I'm glad your building the Comanche because I kinda miss the old Rudicon. It was like the little engine that could. No lockers, Dana 30 and STILL hanging with the big boys on all the trails and obstacles.
Great work Rudy. I was lucky enough to know 2 people, back in the 80s that owned 1 of these Comanches . both were just like yours but were 4x4. Great choice with upgrades and work your doing . In my opinion one of the best small truck from that area. Very capable. Keep up the good work.
My second biggest vehicle regret was buying a 2WD Ranger a week before my future father-in-law decided to sell his 4WD Comanche. I was detailing cars on weekends at the local AMC, Jeep Renault dealer, and I really like those trucks. My biggest vehicle regret was buying a Dodge Caliber because those things sucked.
Rudy, you are a true craftsman!!! I'll feel much better with the doors both shutting like the should. You did a great job designing, fabricating and installing those reinforcement plates.
Coincidently I’d never heard of Walls until I bought a vest made by them at IFA about a month ago. I wear that vest everyday it’s above 35. It’s almost my favorite piece of cold weather gear
I see you used the easy-disconnect method for your welder ground clip. 😅 The Comanche is really shaping up. Can't wait to see how it is when it's finished.
A tip for tricky repair panels like that: Cover the hole with masking tape, then run your dirty finger around the opening and it will transfer the outline of the hole to the tape. Then remove the tape, trim with scissors, and you have a perfect template for your repair panel. Just stick it to the metal, trace it, and cut it out.
Probably gonna rub the inner part on flex still. I think I added 2 or 3" wheel spacers to mine. People frown but if they are hubcentric and good billet, you'll never have an issue.
Nice adventure & craftsmanship! Bought a Walls" Blizardpruf" coveralls (in blaze camo) for hunting, figured when they wore out I'd buy bibs & a jacket, lol. For the last 30+ years they've been hunting, ice fishing, then chores & working, (even with a couple of diesels)... Still haven't worn out... Thanx !
you put the heat of welding in the new thicker plate .. if you start on the body of what your working on you will burn threw the sheet metal ,, Trust me I found out the hard way ,,
@@brucekrisko4364 pre heat the thicker metal and of course always start on the thicker material. Do a few practise welds with scrap PC's of the same thicknesses. To get your heat and wire speed dialed in. Plus it helps if u have a good welder.
A common thing in XJ/MJ in the east of the country is the door hinge welds break behind the fender….no warning either…you go to open the door and it just falls off 😑
It's coming along nicely. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
I have always wanted a Comanche but never got 'round to building one, so I am truly enjoying coming along for your ride on this. Looking forward to what comes next with it. Thanks.
Nice work Rudy, it's coming together a bit at a time , the door strikers were a weak point from factory even new, I have seen them repaired under warranty when the vehicles were less than 2 yrs old, my buddy loved these trucks, and had probably 10 or 12 since his first new one in 1985 , same as the head liner they gave out after 6/7 years, they are still cool and the best part was always the powertrain, great video look forward to the next video👍
would be super cool to see you put new fabric on the headliner! very very easy project, i did it in my XJ and it took maybe an hour. just picked up fabric from walmart and some adhesive spray.
Hey, Im glad you're still making video's. I was confused. Your last video..... That I saw sounded like you were tossing in your hat on the RUclips thing. Im glad your still around, I'll keep watching. Randy
Get on Rudy, your skills are substantial, and I enjoy your video's very much, over two hundred K subscribers, you sure are doing something right. The Comanche is coming along nicely given all you have done to her from the day you picked her up and got all the new stuff which you fitted to make the ole girl roadworthy. You made those two jobs look easy.
YAY! closing doors! haha. I love that you kept the OE flares on there . My biggest gripe about people with lifted Cherokees/Comanches - leaving the flares off and those ugly wheel arch boltholes. just looks tacky in my opinion. Slick trick on flipping them...learned something new! I have new full-window doors for my 'Che...but I have to redo the door hinges - all tore out. Love the progress!!
Good job with the door strikers and fender trimming Rudy! The Comanche is looking awesome. Looking forward to seeing you and Janelle in your next video! 👍
The Comanche looks so good with those 35s
Rome wasn't built in a day Rudy! The best to you young man!
WOW man, ADDS , that I ...... well, I could watch that. I NEVER say that about advertisements. Good luck Rudy. You got sumpthin" I'll stay to see what
Opening scene was hilarious! Drive up, get out, slam the door and walk away, door immediately opens behind you lol. Awesome content as always!
I also got a kick out of the grounding cable still being attached as he drove off.

Oh, so that's why the front wheels look a little too far back I guess.

That fender flip is a great trick! I've wanted to clearance my fenders but I hate how unfinished XJs look when they're chopped without flares.
Hello from Midwest Missouri, that is a great new look for the front gonna be a beast!!!
Ermagerd! I have been waiting for the door latch repair for weeks!!! Tell me you get goose bumps every time you slam that door! That's amazing!

Good job Rudy! Those little glitches with the go pro just make it that much more fun to watch!
Janelle .. thanks for bringing us, Rudy! 👍😎✊
I saw the ground clamp got forgotten when you backed out I've drug welder out with me once when backing a truck out 😃 that'll get your attention
That jeep has the best color fade/patina you could ever find. Love that baby blue to metal fade.

Looking better all the time, Rudy. To keep Janelle happy though, you will have to tackle that headliner sometime soon.

In one way, I'm going to miss seeing that door spring back open after you slam it. It always made me chuckle.
The Comanche looks awesome. 35's seem perfect. Awesome job on the doors as well.
Rudy, glad the ground cable came loose without damaging your welder. Good job repairing the Comanche .🌝🌝
Ground auto-disconnect......Priceless...Thanks
A lot of work to get the doors to work but was done well. Love the satisfaction in your face seeing the door close well.
You're making it look like simple solutions that aren't that easy to do, all my respect for this attitude
Looks great. Totally appreciate the effort of overdubbing the lost audio and the outro gave me a chuckle.

I'm impressed. Now; what are you going to do with that Honda CT90?
Rudy, thanks for continuing to make MJ videos. There's a huge following for this truck

Hey Rudy Florida here I'm so glad to see you back in the picture
I just love you Rudy. Enjoy your videos and Al so with you work with your Dad. Keep up the good work.☺️
I found that thumb tacks hold my headliner up on my Dodge Dakota
Glad to see u posting again......Comanche coming along nicely when u taking it out on the trail for testing AGAIN!!!
Holy cow a fit on the first try! Envy envy envy from me :)
Perfect timing on the Walls advert. I've been needing to replace my oft-patched coveralls.
Good job on the door latches! Now you won't be falling out on the turns! Just rip that head liner out!
Keeping the headliner loose was so that when the door flung open , he could reach-up & grab a handful so's not to fly out ! 😄✊
Great job, Rudy! Love your videos! Glad to know you WON’T be falling out of the Comanche doing crazy somersaults on the highway.
@hit me up right now 👉@RudysAdventure_andDesign you’re NOT RUDY - knock this 💩 OFF!!!🤬🤬
Neat trick with the fenders. Glad you fixed the door.
Never even thought about doing that with the flares, how cool. The doors shutting so nicely is definitely satisfying. Love the video.

You have got that little truck looking good. The head liner shouldn't be too bad.
I think I love this series so much more than most is one the ability being shown and the fact that it’s a more rare small to medium “truck”
Looking good , Rudy . I wouldn't mind having a rig like that to cruise the dirty and muddy back roads here in Washington
That’s hot!
Hmmm, where have I heard that before?
Awesome tip on switching the front fenders.
That’s was a boss move
I had an 87 Comanche, not many builds on them, love seeing this build!
