That looked like a nice little adventure
Good 👍
Nice
Nice vedio
👍
Very good
Notice how Paul was all calm with fire. Even Ben was about to roll, Paul didn't even spill his mountain dew. 3 great saves 🤣
Put that down to experience, Paul has about 3 fires a week on average in his own shop 😂
Paul always seems to be cool calm and collected in those kinda situations. He’s a great guy to go trail riding with from what I’ve seen.
Paul saved the day there. I believe he was a fire fighter in Glendale at one point.
Paul is, or was, I am not sure if he is still one, a volunteer firefighter
I was really mostly impressed with his ability to save Ben and the dew at the same time. 🤣
Ha here is a Dutch Guy and I love it that you have a havy difficult trail named the Dutch trial. We are nice people you know!
As an Austrian, spending my vacations in the Netherlands, I can absolutely confirm that! 🇦🇹🤝🇳🇱
As a German I concur. The Dutch are great people!
another Dutch guy here.
you are absolutely right leon
@@michaelbakker5314 Dank je wel. 😇
In your air system it seems that you should have a small accumulator tank w the pressure switch mounted to the tank. The compressor actually bleeds pressure off when it shuts off so that it can start again with little or no head pressure... also a check valve between compressor and tank...
ok
exactly what I was going to post. Knowing what pressure you are getting too (i.e. sure you don't have a leak?)
Hey Rudi, connect your pressure switch to the positive on the airpump. if its on the negative side, the pump may still be grounding not allowing it to shut off. I've run into that issue myself.
Strong possibility
Good thought. Add a volt meter to your toolbox, Rudy.
A lot of pucker moments on that one!!! Good to have Paul around he’s calm under pressure!! Glad to see everyone made it safe! Ben was gonna climb that one or flip it trying! 😂 Again Paul jumps on the bumper and calmly jumps up and down while Ben is raising the front end! 😂
Have you checked to make sure you don't have a leak that prevents the system from coming up to full pressure? Its an easy thing to do. Put a dedicated pressure gauge between the pressure transducer and the system. You will be able to measure the pressure you achieved and see if it holds.
Feel like this should be 1 or 2 on the list when compressor dont shut off.
Either the switch is broken or you dont get enough preassure to activate it...
Or he needs a small buffer tank so the pump can shut off without the sensor loosing pressure and switching it on again.
Official contest between Paul and Rudy to see who catches more fires in 4 months. They are both my faves
Rudy, dude, you are like the king of adventures inside an adventure. Glad you are with amazing friends who all have each others backs. 👍✌
ok
Rudy: your smile says it all....as my heart sinks! Your amazing!
I’ll definitely be changing where I mount my fire extinguisher! Looks like an awesome trail!
Glad to see you are okay
These are trails I usually hike... How y'all take your rigs up them is amazing!
Great time, thanks for sharing with us!
Doesn't get much better then Mountain Dew and getting over a tough obstacle. Well done guys.
I don't think I remember a time when Paul quit on an obstacle. That's how you know you're on a difficult trail. Nice job staying calm, and having a fire extinguisher handy.
A couple of videos ago, he quit on one obstacle that Ben made. Earlier, he made one that Ben couldn't
something funny that a friend of mine did with tire rubber came off, he took nother old tire, cut the patch f the old tire and super glued it into the tire missed the tread, that was 2 yrs ago, and since then the patch is holding up, the sper glue was from harbor freight,.
Try breaking the pinns off thst hold the spring on thermostat and put it back in. It will look like a big washer then without the part with the spring. This way it slows the coolant down better then just letting it flow with out a thermostat. I learned this from a friend ling ago when my Iroc Z was over heating. That way it slows the coolant down so the fans can cool it down some.
You guys have a very broad definition of what constitutes a "trail". Seems to me if occasionally some vehicles kind of fit without incapacitating damage it must be a "trail".
With Ben's vehicle struggling for traction good plan for Paul to be pulling down on the bumper right in front of the wheel trying to get it to hook up so it can lurch forward to the spot on the "trail" where he is standing pulling on the bumper. Had it hooked up that could have resulted in a terrible waste of mountain dew.
Looks like a Crazy trail Rudy Nice trip
This turned out better than I anteciped. Congrats :)
Any Mini bike ride is a fun ride 😊✌️
Would be awesome if you hosted an overland event one weekend. Right there off the river. Something over a three day weekend
Looks like you need a air guage to see what’s going on or have a leak when pump shuts down my2 cents, love the Ramcharger build,
Keep up the amazing content man been killing it man can’t wait tell the day I can afford to build up our 97 4runner
One of these days I’ll have my 96 project XJ completed so I could show Rudy how it’s done what a real man’s jeep with a 6.0 LS sounds like screaming 🦅
America 🇺🇸 💪🏼
Ben you need to do some more work on that jeep
I sure wish you could get more videos out Rudy.
Seen that white rock before that’s cool trail , only thing break it back there pretty long haul back Sandhollow
This is the craziest off road video I've seen. Paul has definitely proven it's a good thing to have him along on these excursions...lol
I was in bfe, my battery broke free, somehow lit the actual block with charge and the engine ground starting burning and killed the motor, tipped the battery back up all good, other thing is gasket around fuel injectors, two most common fires, battery or fuel leakage
A: "Hey, what's the name of that trail?"
B: "Most folks call it _The Dutchman,_ but Rudy calls it _The Flaming Dutchman_ for some reason."
Great group of friends! Paul you are awesome
Hit up cars and cameras on mini bikes. Glad you're all safe.
Put a toggle switch in and switch it on when you need your lockers engaged
Sounds like you have a leak in your air lines or the copper tube or O ring in the locker assembly for your pump to always be on and its always been that way if it has always ran since its been built 1 pump and switch to fail i can see that but multiple switches and pumps to fail not likely. You need to hook your compressor up with a gauge and engage the locker and look at the gauge to see if pressure holds or its leakiny somewhere
When Rudy was dangling on that obstacle spinning his wheels, I was wondering where Casey LaDelle's super long camera pole was. It would be cool to see under the Jeeps without putting the camera operator in the Danger Zone.
THAT, was a trail. WOW.
Very inspiring video 👏👏👏👏
The one good thing about wheeling with a bunch of fabricators is if a breakage happens you know you're still getting out of there with relative ease.
You guys really are on a manual transmission trail, there.
Well done
Pressure switch is not seeing the pressure at which it is set for, meaning it never switches off. The only cause for this is a leak in the system somewhere.
that was a knarly trial luckily you came prepared 😂😂😂
Nice job on that trail bro ,and thanks for the video. Keep um comin.
Please tell me you are going to build that J10 that was in the background. I owned on in HS and it is one of 2 trucks I regret selling.
20:04 If I had to guess it came off at around 9:14.
They were spinning quite fast and then grabbed that rock quite suddenly.
I might be wrong, of course, but that seems like the right time for that to happen. 🤔
Is the J10 truck yours and something you plan on building eventually? I have a deep love for those trucks!
Great video. I really like the videos of just going out and doing the trail..
When y’all upload on mondays it is so clutch
Looked like a Real good time to me.
Not Lost
Just Exploring Right.😂😂
Well Rudy made it back in one piece. Not like Hillbillies rig still stuck in the canyon.
Have to have a Huey helicopter to get it out.
He had a good time that's what counts man right.👍🏽🤙🏾✌🏽😊😎.🙋🏽♂️
you can tell anthony functions more through his emotions and ian is more logic minded
thank you very much Rudy. I enjoy your content.
If you've replaced the pressure switch more than once, there's a possibility your pump needs a rebuild. If it can't get the pressure up to the cutoff pressure, it's seals are failing, it'll just keep pumping (and poorly). Nope, haven't ever dealt with that kind of compressor, as a contractor using air tools, I've had to put piston kits in most of the jobsite ones I have. That issue of not shutting off indicates bad piston seal. Worth a looky-look
He tried a brand new pump with the same result
Teamwork!
Always have the cameraman carry a fire extinguisher
I lost my 1st XJ to a blown power steering hose/pump. 70 mph hot header engulf in flame. Scary to say the least
You must have that compressor😮 all wired wrong. But i didnt see enough to know exactly how its wrong.
Definitely Use a relay to turn the pump on and off, and then use that pressure switch to trigger the relay on and off.
This will make sure no real current is going through the pressure switch and should stop them from failing.
The airpump problem seems like a stuck relay?
you got a air leak maybe cause if the locker/lockers are leaking they will bleed pressure through the diff vent hoses you may not hear it with the Jeep running
My guess is something is wired wrong probably at the relay or power is bypassing the relay . Or it’s possible your using the wrong relay and it gets wired differently.
Turns out not even fire will stop you fellas in your off-road shenanigans 😅
never place the switch in the air line it pulses to much always put it on storage tank to get constant pressure, and put a check valve between pump and tank
More videos please
I would feel so safe wheeling this group, if anything happens someone knows how to patch it up and get you going again
❤Team RAD 👍😎✊
Air lockers are notorious for air leaks, which Is why I refuse to use them.
Who was filming?
You guys are 🤪 . Great video!!
If you're leaking air and it never reaches the threshold, the pump is just gonna keep running...
I was wondering why he would add what looks like a resistor. That would make the compressor put out less air and not reach the cutoff pressure.
ok
ok
I think he added the resistor because "it works when the Jeep is off, but not when it's running" which led him to believe it was a voltage thing...
Paul is the type of guy you would want with you. Calm and collected and can pretty much fix anything
Paul has a fire in his own shop almost weekly, it's normal for him 😁
And good all round sollid bloke !1 Enjoying from the UK ! Cheers
Except for transmissions. 🤣
Wheeling with Paul Cox is a definite positive for trail repair.
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist2😊😊
Good Morning Rudy it was a nice surprise to see the Fab Rats crew as part of this video.
Having Paul there for the Dutchman was a very smart choice since he has the experience.
I'll tell ya... If anything was to go wrong on the trail... Paul is the first guy I'd pick to be there!
Or Rory
@@Myhandle306 him too, for sure!!! Sorry Rory, I wasn't thinking!
Paul, Matt and Rory are all the same type of personality in that respect. Small catastrophes are just something you fix. Not get upset about.
You need to try adding a small tank. It may need better back pressure to work.
I agree, a high limit shutoff can't work without a place to build up air, I don't think
That's exactly the problem.
He either needs a low pressure 15 psi shut off or a tank with a 50/60 psi shut off. The lockers are very low pressure.
let that be a lesson to everyone on the trails , fire extinguishers are great to invest in ! glad you and the rudicon is okay
Holy macaroni that went up fast! 😮 thank goodness for having a fire extinguisher… and a Paul!
Not only is Paul a volunteer fireperson,
He's the local pyro tooo.
Hahahaha 😂
He’s called a Firefighter, not fireperson…🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@Heeman5 guessing they didn’t want to say fireman. The world’s gone mad
That trail looks like a lot of fun. I'm glad you had the fire extinguisher and was able to save the Rudicon.
When Paul said "This isn't the greatest cut in the world" I immediately went "this is just a tribute" in my head 🤣.
Notice how Paul was all calm with fire. Even Ben was about to roll, Paul didn't even spill his mountain dew. 3 great saves 🤣
Rudy, are you installing a shut off switch with a Psi that your pump can achieve? do you have any form of tank?
Yikes when Ben started going over toward the end the one dude almost took his hand off. He reached out to grab Ben’s passenger front wheel and and almost realized too late that the sucker was gonna start spinning. Phew 😅 Awesome video!
Wow, I can’t believe anyone thinks this is a Trail! Looks like
really rough going.. You definitely had all the right Buds with
you to get everyone thru it. Pretty Serious Wheeling for sure.
Stay Safe and enjoy your great Sport...
put an arb air compressor in to run the lockers. they make a compact one just to run air lockers. relegate the yukon ones to backup or airing up as they aren't hitting the psi needed to shutoff.
As a real Dutch man I concur.. we are Legendary 😁👍🏻
Jep we are legends
yes yes so true
The locker pumps have to just be wired wrong. If you went through all that and you got the same outcome. You should have the power or ground (depends on the pressure switch or your preference) running through the pressure switch. When the predetermined pressure is reached it disconnects that circuit and the pump turns off.
I'm thinking it has a leak, probably not reaching that pressure.
You need to check you air pressure , the switch could be rated for a higher pressure than the pump makes or you have air leaks, and the pump can't reach shut off pressure.
Why no gauge on the output? If you cannot measure it, you cannot troubleshoot it, all you can do is guess or replace parts constantly; use an oil-filled gauge to protect the pointer from fluctuations. BTW, a DC motor will arc across the contacts when it opens and then welds the contacts later. This is why a DC relay will 'wipe' the contacts to clean them whereas a pressure switch contacts will not. An automotive relay with the switch might be one good solution. I have many 12 volt relays on my Jeep with the relays and high current under the hood and not under the dash. In critical circuits like brakes I will use a cycling circuit breaker but otherwise I use circuit breakers that when tripped then I have to manually reset them or otherwise use fuses.
I see an old Gladiator there in the beggining🤔
I love the Jeep pickup in the intro
That trail is WAY outta my league, but looked like a nice little adventure. Thank you for taking us along
Hi Rudy, Ruud here from the Netherlands. As a Dutchman I am very curious why the trail is called "The Dutchman". I don't understand because the Netherlands is as flat as a coin, no mountains and certainly no rocks 😂😂
I believe it’s in reference to the legend of the Flying Dutchman, a Ghost Ship, doomed to never port, and stuck sailing the seven seas forever
@@Rudysadventureanddesignreal Ahh.., that makes sense in itself. Anyway, you had a lot of fun with a Dutch Man.
@@Rudysadventureanddesignreal Love your Channel. Just keep going 👍🏻👍🏻
It might have something to do with the legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine. A google search will provide some interesting articles.
It is awesome to watch videos like this where people work together and having fun too
I had a mechanical locker and over the span of 10 years I had zero problems... Never liked the concept of the ARB with air lines.
I signed up on that app and after that I get a chit load of advertising mails! This is the worst thing iv sign up for! If I would by more I'll sign up for it! I don't need 4 mails a day to by more Rudy!
2 years ago I started sucking out and replacing 1 gallon of ATF out the dipstick every oil change as I was finding that driving in 100deg heat was burning the ATF. Now what I pull out is always still red and my trans seems happy.
Paul and Matt have a lot in common, instead worrying about a fire or an unexpected predicament they both just say “we can fix it”😂
Oh and now you're draining your transmission fluid it's never going to shift right again with new fluid lol 🤣😆
Had the same problem on my Nissan air lockers. Those pumps leak by the piston all the time. You really need a small air receiver after the pump and a non return valve between it and the pump. Take the air for the locker from the tank. ATB & regards from the UK.
