Parents may find it useful to reference a color wheel of emotions. This gives a variety of words that are in the category of emotions such as happiness would consist of excitement, joyful, etc. They could start with open ended questions and ask for examples of when they felt that way, then use closed ended questions or yes or no to name the feeling. Many times children don't know what the feeling is so it may help to look at behavior too. What is the child doing in their example? What happened next? Anxiety leads to avoidance, sadness to withdrawal, fear to fight or flight or freeze, and anger leads to increased energy directed at someone or something or to oneself. Hope this helps gives some direction. Thanks for watching!

Much appreciated 😊
What questions can parents ask the child for assessing their emotions?
