$23,000 for maintenance items, turbo kit, and cosmetic upgrades: if you're going to heavily modify your car, NC all the way. I really like the ND3 stock, so I bought one, but let me tell you, I really thought about the above! I ended up getting a sport for about 6k cheaper than the base club - money for a turbo kit in my book. Main difference is the suspension and LSD, if I'm honest, and that's not an expensive fix. To get better suspension, wheels and tires, and LSD (all of my choice) it's only around 5k. Don't need track mode, and I don't miss the body color door interior. It's cool for about 10 minutes, then it's too much red imo.
NC hardtop is nicer looking than ND RF. ND soft top looks better than ND soft top. My opinion but a NC hardtop in club trim is hard to find and still runs around 20-25k. You can find ND2s in club/recaros/bbs for that.
Unless you want the club specifically, I’d recommend going for the Grand Touring. They tend to be around the same price as the club, if not cheaper, and come with more features than the club. The main diff is the club has that Miata stripe on the doors and the interior dash is color matched to the car. I picked up a 14’ GT w/ 38k miles for $17k this past February. Currently at 48k miles and don’t regret a thing :)
NC needs a different Exhaust back box then it would sound great. In the UK you can spend £2195 with BBR and get an additional 47bhp and similar torque gains. The NC with BBR 200 would then blow away the ND in a drag race and you have spent a third of the money vs a ND
Yes, I have a 2012 NC miata and a 2017 Skyactiv Mazda 3 2.5 engine. The Mazda 3 gets waaay better gas mileage than the NC. The NC is heavy on gas compared to modern engines.

Avoid the sport trim if you can help it too.
@@markcoopers1930 Just traded in my 2016 Club soft top & got a 2024 ND3 Club soft top. Have to say my 2016 Club had all the torque down low that my ND3 has. So that HP rating thing happens up farther in the rev band. I'll bet my 2016 Club is just as fast as my ND3 Club ! ( Only real mod effecting power was the active exhaust from Flying Miata on that 2016 ).
I’d go NC2 all day.
Should've swapped wheels in them off the bolt pattern is still the same and redone the brake test to see if it was the tires.
Not the same bolt pattern, NC x 5 ND x 4
I just bought a used $25K ND2 Miata with the LSD and Bil steins . Price wise no brainer, why would you get NC?
(I dunno why auto channels always compare completely apples and bananas trims in price vs performance)
It's funny I was driving a NC Miata on Gran Turismo 😅
I'd go with the new one for the facial expression alone.
Miata is the best sports car ever made
Compare GT to GT if you like, but not soft top price to hard top price.
Sport ND3 sells just under $30,000.
Team NC2 💙 love both
I'm happy with my nb.
No, you shouldn't. The NC is a great daily, road trip car, the PRHT is better than any ND offering, aaaaand your passengers won't curse you when they ride in it. I sold my 2016 GT and went back to a NC2 and have no regrets at all. Just took it on a 1000 mile trip over the weekend.
Wait for the new Mazda Miata MazdaSpeed
I love the “Tom & Kasey Show”! 🐱 🐭
The ending was shocking. 😂. Well done you three.
The RF is the version you should never get. It is about lightness, so get that version. We have the 1.5 ND which comes under 1000 kg. Which is 200kg less than the 2.0 RF.
*PSA: 200kg is roughly 441lbs
I don't know where you found your numbers. From what I see, 1.5 ND ST is 961 kg dry weight, 2.0 ND RF is 1048 kg dry weight, so less than 100 kg. And I think the 2.0 still lack power and torque.
NC3 and ND1 is almost same price where I live.... lol
Can't afford a new car so ....
Clean NB or NA. Anyway none is really fast in a drag race, real fun is in corners.
I hope you gentlemen used Sunscreen! 🥵
Hey what's happening if you want your Mazda coupe chance out the Mufflers & exhaust tips
Per the dealership, it affects the warranty on the car.
I wanted dual exhaust tips on both sides of the car, the only "want" I did not get because Mazda would not do even for a "special" order.
@@federiconalos8202 I put the active exhaust from Flying Miata on my 2016 Club soft top & the dealer NEVER said a word when brought it in for a TSB fix. 🤔
@@ag4allgood I’m noticing a pattern that you claim to do everything bigger and better than everybody you choose to reply to.
Smug much? 🤣🤣
If case wore aviator glasses, he’d look like Tom Cruise…
Call me crazy but I prefer the design of the NC over the ND.
You’re definitely crazy haha
Probably because you’re 90 years old
The NC looks better.
I have an ND, but I think that the NC has a more classic look. It reminds me of the classic British roadsters. I like all gens of Miata's.
Carvana just offered me 7.5k for my 2016 with almost 100k on it lol
My dream 🚗
Does it have android Auto, or just Apple?
It (ND) has android auto, but earlier years (possibly before 2018) may need a conversion
It's a Mazda MX5.?
Yours smiles more
Who in their right mind would pay 38k for a go kart?
People really are just npc's they say well 14k in 2014 is the same as 40k now so no different....wages haven't moved npc's it is not the same
@@poweredbyrice5708 yes they have. People weren't making $15-20 hr at McDonald's like now. Everyone is making more. Either a little more or a lot more. Depends on your occupation and marketable skills.
@@andyleo8418 If the federal minimum wage in the United States had kept pace with productivity since 1968, it would be around $26 per hour in 2023. You're way off base. Wages for middle and working class has been stagnant since "trickle down economics" was introduced.
@@mikeb9569 who cares about minimum wage? There are some high paying jobs out there that weren't created until recently like software engineers and programmers, cyber security, online sales, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, etc. Then the standard jobs like lawyers, program managers, financial analysts, plumbers, electricians, etc. They all make a lot of money. Some people are working two remote jobs. So that's 2x the pay. Gig work pays a lot if you hustle and are in the right city like LA, NYC, and SF. You are thinking small and negatively.
NB is still better than either
If you need to drag race a Miata, you shouldn't be driving a Miata....
James have some fun for once in your life tough guy
Need to find a Mazdaspeed with the factory turbo
NC owners try to convince the rest their cars are better?
I don't think it's working.
38k for this is absolutely criminal
Go check out the prices for a USED S2000…. Let me give you a preview, THEY ARE MORE USED THEN THE MSRP WAS NEW!
This is obviously a highly optioned model. Rf’s are available for about 33. Base models are $29k
@@getnbigger29 Rfs start at 38K with destination included.
When you compare with other cars they are bargain priced.
The original Miata came out in 1989 with a starting price of $14,000. That is equivalent to $34,412 as of 2023. Their pricing has remained pretty stable over the decades.
38k? wtf..
Drag races in Miatas are pointless
I don't care for the look of the new one
Next Gen should have the rotary!
Elevation sucks, when i was a kid i had a '94 Toyota Tercel, bone stock, ran 17.55 LOL, 75 HP. Faster than an NC
Alex needs a hamburger
you gotta go with the nc cause the new ND is not a true convertible. my parent's own a 99 nb with 53k miles
Not a true convertible? They make soft and hard tops of both the NC and ND.....
Yes, if you'd like more speeding tickets.
Tommy should K swap his Miata much like what Speed Academy did with theirs
I've owned 5 Miatas over the years and $38k for a new Miata is insane. 🤣
It's not. All cars are expensive now.
That's the hard top. My soft Gt manual was 33k before tax and fees. Which is still 10k (15k?) under the average new car price for a manual, RWD, highly competent handling sports car. And it's efficient and reliable to boot.
Nope, there's a lot more other things I'd like to do with my money, when I'm not driving somewhere with that 23K.
38k for a Miata and car companies are wondering why they can't move cars other than boomers buying them
Maybe if you didn’t work at Wendy’s you could afford it too
€56k here and you can't buy it even more.
ND is lighter and has more power. Drag Race seems unnecessary to me.
@@19hundoc47 I make 135k a year, but nice insult to young people who work full-time and cannot afford a place to live or a car. Guessing your a boomer who grew up easy with everything handed to you while destroying the economy I like to think of other people not as fortunate as me.
$13,000 was the MSRP of the first year Miata (demand was high and prices went much higher), but in todays dollars it would be 31,200. The base price of a new '24 is just over 30,000. So cheaper than original after inflation. The problem is wages haven't kept up.
No thanks to Tic tac
38k is too much ...more like 20k is fair for the mid trim
2012 called. Can't get a base Corolla for 20k. And this wipes the floor with a Corolla
Regardless of what you do to it... a Miata is still a girl's car.
NEWS flash. Miata is still not a real sports car.
News flash. So dumbru
Ha ha ha. Google 'sports car' and let me know the first picture you see. The MX-5 is the most raced and tracked car ever made. It even has it's own nationally SCCA sanctioned race series.
Why because it doesn’t have 500hp? Miatas are the most raced cars on the planet in case you didn’t know. They’re not fast in a straight line but they’re extremely fun to drive with precise steering and great handling plus they’re reliable and cheap to maintain. Go drive one and I think your opinion will change, but just don’t compare it to a Porsche 911.
It’s the literal definition of a sports car not really for me but it is
Fake news flash
No self respecting dude should ever be seen in a Miata….yeah you Travis Kelce
All the more for us fake men, I guess
What??? It's just like a Mustang, but more fun.
Tommy is just forgetting about the NC3 🥹
