My name is Ike Stephens. I started driving a truck in 2002. I started making trucking videos in 2010. I've done everything from VLOGs to parodies.
Trucker Rag Chew | Trucker Rag Chew is mixture of Vlog, music, and opinion. It is one of the original VLOG style videos series in the RUclips Trucking genre.
Bonehead Truckers® | I am one of only people who will call out the bad things truckers do to ruin this industry. Bonehead Truckers® exposes the bad behavior of truck drivers.
Trucking Advice | Mixed is into the normal videos, I have been known to put out an occasional educational video. Even though I still have a lot to learn myself, the things I do talk about is stuff I've learned the hard way.
RUclips Live | I was one of the original content creators to do live content. I started on Ustream and when RUclips started the live interactive content, I was one of the first to participate.

Any driver that has supported these companies by being behind the wheel of these autonomous trucks is a traitor. I don't care what anyone says.
I just got my CDL permit, I’m scared and I havnt even got hired yet 😭
My career is already over 😢
Good I wouldn’t wish driving on my worst enemy
And BAN the Flipflops..... BooYah!
Then, don't work for Werner or WalMart. They are using these NOW!
Traitor to what? Guess I missed the part where I was inducted into the cult after finishing CDL school.
Wait till the hackers show up...
yep, just thinking the same thing
Yeah it's not hard to hack anything these days!
hackers change the destination then what
@@richbowser9500 hijack freight? Cause a crash? Use your head.
Repaint the lines off the cliff.
After they screw up and then the company has 100% liability and cannot blame a driver we will see
This could be THE primary reason why companies fight autonomy!!! Just so they’ll have a scapegoat.
Computers can be hacked. Then the trucks can be weaponized
Yes. That's a scary thought.
Imagine trucks hauling chemicals, fuel and other highly explosive loads.
Right everyone thought the World was insane- crazy Let's do see what happens, We need Politicians off of the Roads, It would be better if everyone Stopped Hating each other as much.
@@Incognito_1964Not anytime soon! The freight that that will be hauled is some of the cheapest freight and box trailers. The jobs are going to be shifted to the maintenance and monitoring the trucks on a computer in an air conditioning room.
normal trucks can be stolen & weaponized too, or just manned by idiots. makes no difference
This is one way to get rid of DOT😂😂. NO DRIVERS,NO NEED FOR DOT.
When the cargo gets jacked over and over again and billions are lost LMAO!
Fast and furious 13 coming to a hwy near you lol
Old truck drivers turn to robbing the autonomous trucks I'd watch that movie
Ike’s new channel would have to be BONEHEAD AUTOMATONS
Good one. 😂
Ike could get his own sidekick like Craig Ferguson has that talking head Geoff Peterson.
When that computer system glitches out, and it WILL!, who gets sued for the damages?
And deaths
Tax payers will pay for all damages and lawsuits every time an accident occurs.
It’ll be the same as it is now. The company always pays. I remember when some dumb blond b**ch tried to pass a snowplow in operation (which is illegal by the way) and spun out, coming into my land and clipping my truck. My dash-cam saved me and I was found not at fault. She was ticketed. Guess who got a lawyer and got the company I was working for to give her a new vehicle and a bunch of money. Won’t be any different here, either. The trucking companies already pay for every incident so in that regard nothing will change.
@@kingcrusher5524 What taxpayer money? We have no money. It's -30 trillion and sinking deeper. There is no money.
As a trucker's WIFE can you please tell me if ripped underwear holes where dick and asshole are is normal? He works day with many in and out of seat. Let's hope not in and out of another PERSON!
As quoted from my F150:
"Sensor blocked, see manual"
They put automatic brake checkers into F150s already? Guess they want to overcome skepticism for their trash tech...
😂
They'll make it
"sensor blocked, drive mode unavailable"
Where's the AI arms to clean the cameras/sensors of bugs/road debris?
@@bobtailedtrucker2521 True. When I was down in TX, my Bendix gave me an error from all the bugs. And you know how bad the bugs are in some parts of TX.
Wanna see what the truck does when a bird takes out a camera or sensor and when its rains cats and dog's or snowing,Steer tire blowing or any tire out or airleak transmission going out headlight going out 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Two words, Maximum Overdrive
80,000 pound jackpot sounds like a better job than driving to me
Ever heard the song "in the year 2525"...we are there!!! 😉
Don't worry your going to see alot of those trucks on the side of the hwy with their cargo missing😂
Does a dog have teeth, yes and it will bite. Does it have a computer, yes it can be hacked.
lawyers use to be called ambulance chasers......now there going to be called TRUCK CHASERS
Lawers are really chasing the trucks
"Autonomous Trucks" are like SCABS crossing Picket Lines!!!
I think A.I. driverless trucks are great. Great to see how they hook they’re disconnected fifth wheel
No more flip flops. No more eld. No more fuel island blockers. No more road rage drivers. It'd be interesting how the trucks would do on icy and snow covered roads
Short answer: Wyoming
If I'm out 4 wheeling I'm gonna give that robot a field test. Those things aren't prepped for crazy drivers. 😜
All of those lasers cameras and sensors all fail in winter conditions
My collision avoidance front radar disables itself whenever it rains now. That’s going to make for some roadway excitement.
Since these trucks have had a couple of accidents, a few of the companies that are working on the driverless trucks have pulled out this set.
“Artificial Incompetence”
It will never work.
I was recently watching the cannon ball program from the black and white days. We were in a profession that was a proud and respected career. Clean, tidy, uniformed drivers. Proud.
You compare them with present industry conditions and it’s saddening to compare. Crusher caps, uniforms, correct footwear and attire.
, clean.Again, proud.
Now the caps and uniforms have been replaced with turbans and flip flops, sweatpants and piss bottle chucking assholes unable to or care not to speak English doing things without regard to anyone else but the selfish people they are. 43 years in may for me as a driver. Don’t mean shit when anyone can do what I do ,and usually get paid the same with minimal experience. And language skills. I’m too old to change careers now but I’m looking forward to retirement more and more each day I’m out here. I’m still proud of myself and what I do, getting tired of my career getting black eyes regularly because of bad drivers. Public never sees the good stuff. Just the bad. Like I’ve always said “one swipe of shit wipes out a lot of attaboys. Stay proud all you long timers! We are a species that is slowly going extinct.
Watch them be going 45mph on the interstate making everyone angrier.
Looks like a good time to get into the wrecker business.
when it pulls in for fuel who is going to jump out and fuel it?
It's crazy to think how only 5 or so generations in history had the amazing privilege to operate combustion engines. These past 100 years were the best. Gonna keep driving till it's illegal to do so.
That entire camera system is probably worth same as the truck
And when there is a malfunction in the system who is gonna drive the truck then 🤔
I have never had any problems with Truck drivers or Bus Drivers, as a pedestrian. It's the four wheelers that scare the hell out of me.
If you stop a truck by stopping another vehicle in front of it, the trailer is free game. Take whatever you want. Locks can be cut and there’s no person in the truck to stop all out highway robbery.
YA CANT GET TRUCK DRIVERS TO STAND TOGETHER FOR ANYTHING PERIOD SO
Yeah ! The trucking freedom convoy was proof of that .. sure was easier back in the day when they weren't divided by diversity I'll give it that!! One would almost think it was done by design.. like an agenda.. almost a conspiracy right there
Put an autonomous Truck across I 80 in Wyoming in the winter
Sprinkle some snow, ice, haboob(sand storm) see what happens. Besides they have trains to move freight. Next they will try dedicated lanes.
Bad weather, I 81 mountains in PA... Fog and snow... These automated trucks will kill families on the road. Until I see unmanned trains then I'll start to worry. Amtrak would love this technology on a track
Exactly
You don’t think they already have unmanned trains? There’s thousands of them in use for years all rum remotely.
train people are truckers that can't read a map, until gps
Amtrak? UP, BNSF, NS, KCCN, CSX they'll do it first and they already use remote control locomotives in their switching yards so it ain't that far away.
Australian mining giant Rio Tinto’s autonomous train doing it now.
It'll be the new Swift in your videos!! 😂😂😂
It will become like the movie Maximum Overdrive. Remember that movie in 87. If that guy had a mustache, he'd look like Hitler
I first ran across this concept in the the early 80's in a sci-fi book by Roger Zelazny and Fred Saberhagen called "Coils".
The driverless trucks were not the main point of the book, merely a byproduct of more sophisticated computers.
(There are some really fun/disturbing sci-fi stories covering this concept, including "Auto-da-Fe", also by RZ)
That automatic breaking system is a pain in the butt. I can't count how many times the dam thing has gone off when I go under an overpass. At 70 MPH that is both scares as He'll and potentially dangerous.
I've had mine read a sign in a curve and apply brakes. Scared the crap out of me.
The upside is no trash littering truck stops and road side rests. No bags full of crap left on parking lots
The number of jobs that will be lost is amazing. DRIVERS,DOT,MACHANICS,PARTS DEALERS....
People gonna be crashing into these dawm trucks. "Look boys there's that truck that took my job,Blam" 😆 🤣
Let's see a driverless rig go over Donner Summit in January.
It's still something to keep a close eye on.
Can't wait to see the videos of a-hole 4-wheelers brake checking these autonomous trucks !
Ai will be like neutralize the threat 😂, one berm try brake check me going down a PA mountain, I was about inch away from his rear end, and he drove away like a lil b.
Amazon would be a prime candidate for something like this driverless trucks.
Someone will take one look at that guy and take the challenge to hack into his computer in his trucks you can bet on it.
I welcome this, as a driver for over 18+ years, this industry has brought this upon themselves. Anything that will improve safety in this industry is welcome, we have had chance after chance to clean up this industry, and it’s not getting done. Driver less trucks might not be perfect, but as technology advances, it will get better.
Invest in heavy duty tow trucks becasue when they brake down, they will need to be towed
Another staple in a long list of things computers can't handle in trucking. This is our lifestyle and culture. I say tell em back off.
I imagine taxpayers will be responsible to ft. the bill for any damages and deathes these autonomous trucks will create, RIGHT?
It doesn't matter how many cameras, sensors or what ever you call them. They can can predict what the guy in another vehicle will do like a human can. The electronics are only good in a house in a computer 🖥
As soon as one plows into a weigh/ag station the federal government shuts it down.
You actually trust that government? You, son, are a complete fool.
Personally I'm looking forward to this being implemented Nation-wide, just think of how much easier it will be for the criminals to HiJack loads......
Also it ought to be interesting to see how much freight gets delivered in the winter when all of their sensors and cameras get covered by snow and ice.......................
FACTS 🇺🇸👍
Trains are not autonomous, and they're on tracks!!
Next it will be Receiver’s no longer needed! Without receiver’s then get rid of Receiving Manager’s. I see this as a machine totally taking down humanity. Man was created to tend to God’s garden. The Garden of Eden.
Just saw 3 robo forklifts the other day at a warehouse pickup. Reminded me of garbage can things on Dr Who. They were slow as 💩 too. The guy getting my paperwork didn't seem too enthused either. Watching his job disappear.
Common Ike you know better. These trucks are driving on dry flat roads between Houston and Dallas.
Show me 1 of these trucks in Wyoming during winter with 50mph winds or driving in the Colorado mountains in winter.
This is where you will see these vehicles fail and people die.
My 2022 Kenworth with collision mitigation system slams on the brakes for no reason at all. Imagine one of these trucks get a little dirt on their sensors and the truck is going off the road.
Or Highway 17 way, way up in the snow mexico.
What's the point of having a sleeper cab in driverless trucks?
Why do they have any cab at all?
That’s a good question.
To have some available to drop, hook, dock, drive smaller busy streets to shippers and receivers.
I was going to comment this exact same thing. Does the AI need to take a freaking 10 hour DoT break?
This is just the 1st Gen so they're using existing Truck Models instead of incurring the cost of ordering special made Trucks. Also, they still have Truck Drivers in most of these trucks during testing, probably have a Tech with them too, to monitor for software glitches/bugs.
However, I still don't think there's much to worry about for the current generation of Truckers. Elon's has warned about this as well; he stated there'll be a rush to automatize Vehicles to much acclaim until... the first major, tragic accident. Then they'll be a period of demands for major safety regulations before AI Vehicles are aloud back on the road.
However, AI will eventually get to the point of being more precise navigating the physical world than humans, but not till this current Trucking generation is near retired. Just look had poorly AI Cars are doing, in San Fran they can't keep them from blocking traffic cause the lead car stops over a piece of plastic or paper in the road, causing 4 or 5 of them to pull around in different directions blocking all lanes.
Retired trucker, this is a companies dream come true. I predict they are going to be bugs in the system.
😂 THAT'S LIKE SAYING, THE BLUNT AINT REAL BUT THE SMOKE IS 😂
They can try but they cannot take out the human element.
They will take out the human element. When it fails , they will then slow it down.
Believe me they’re working hard to replace us
Well they can. but some will have,
"Situational Engineers" people (NOT truck drivers think McDonald's workers)
who are given a cell phone, and told to call in if there's a problem.
The Republican Governor of SD, has said these unskilled people will
make the minim wage ($11.20) in her Sate, as they pass thru. As did 16 other
Republican Governors.
MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE ! RISE OF THE KILLER MACHINES
BAAAAAAAMP BAH BAH BAAAAAAAMP
Who made who?
Skill up drivers! It's coming. I'm looking into becoming a Walmart greeter!
Stand up and keep drivers in the trucks
How is the truck going to: check in at shippers, find the correct dock then back into it, handle severe weather, make wide turns in tight downtown areas, fuel itself at truck stops, handle closed roads which aren't updated in its GPS. How is it going to handle crazy 4 wheelers cutting it off on the highway? We're going to see these things flipping over on interstates literally weekly if not more frequent.
These trucks are gonna fuel themselves, pre-trip themselves, bump doors, hook up airlines too
No I'm gonna guess that truck stop employees will be the ones that fuel them, and pre and post trips can also be done by employees
I've already seen a spotter truck in Texas hook up airlines without the driver.
And putting on snow chains ⛓️, LOL 😄😄😄.
@@KenneJ-bu7rr they won't have to drive through the storm. That's just logistics. I really hope they don't succeed. But I feel it's inevitable
Who puts out the reflectors when the truck breaks down ?
My company just bought 100 new electric trucks, they are cool. But they are only for local stuff.
At least they don't wear flip flops🤩
If that Trucking Company really is buying those sleeper cabs, then they are starting out wit to much overhead. President Ike you said open comments.
Not only that, if the truck drives itself, who the hell is going to get out and unhook the trailer
I'm old enough to remember when the elevator operators said; "Not in my lifetime."
Read an article a while back with a prediction that we would face world wide unemployment of 50% due to technology by 2035 to 2040.
Id say Ive got 25 sensors on my truck and we all know what happens when one goes..
Ike aren't you just full of sunshine........great job
I got out of OTR when DOT forced eletronic logbooks. I wasn't in trucking to have other people tell me how and when to do my job. I even said it back then "You don't want a driver...you want a driving robot". After that I seen the trucking industry turn into one of the worst jobs to get in America
I guess my comment went a little far for the mods...nice editing guys
Already have collision mitigation system. It slams on the brakes for bridges, signs, and tumble weeds. Just waiting for a lawsuit because of possibility of getting rear-ended due to this issue.
We know swift will be a fan
Imagine Ike... No flipflops 😂
Ike’s new channel would have to BONEHEAD AUTOMATONS
They run good in clear weather wat about snow and Ice and Rain???? Mindblown🤯
After something goes wrong. Are you kidding me 😂
So many other duties for a driver such as drop and hook, backing into a dock, securing freight especially flatbeds and such also fueling, pre trips, post trips. Autonomous might be a solution for point to point but that is hardly the bulk of trucking freight in US. Most of it is irregular route OTR freight hauling. But sadly any human driver replaced is a loss if you ask me, and I don't think the technology is cheap to maintain either so will there actually be any costs savings?
Right? Cost of goods...up, up and away.
I've seen one of these trucks going over Donner's pass.
If I ever look behind me at a light and the truck/car has no driver, I'm puttin on my 4ways, put it in park, get out, lift my hood and start recording. In landscape mode.
Just had a piece about this on the local news in nc. 20yrs otr coast to coast and I've already seen a cpl of these aurora trucks on 10 in AZ and we all know more is coming sad state in our industry fellow drivers 😢
He’s not helping to get rid of the driver. He’s helping to get rid of everyone.
Separate and conquer even works in the trucking industry.
Oh it’s here! I live in Arizona and they drive up and down the 10 all day. We also have a full service autonomous cab company and food delivery. But I’ll never change my career, I’ll just move to Australia or England and drive truck.
I'm not a trucker, though I've driven a big truck and pulled a 53 footer a time or two. This guy and the whole automated driving craze is just that, crazy. I prefer the current "dangerous" way things are to the utopian dream of perfected automated driving vehicles. Computer code is only as good as the programmers, and aint none of us perfect and there aint none of us can code every scenario with every variable. I get it that there will be crashes, but I prefer a human to make the tough decisions to any computer. It just aint right.
This right here is why I made the right choice. I graduate this summer for a career in Networking with an emphasis on Cybersecurity. I may be driving now, but I am securing my future no matter what.
Couldn't agree with you more. All someone has to do is go back and watch Stepford Wives. That'll give you a clue.
I love to see what the underwriters insurance companies are going to charge these guys for premiums on these things😮
Western Express will incorporate discount AI rejected by Swift.
My trainer told me years ago that with a fully autonomous truck that when faced with no safe option and has to hit either a kid on a bike or a vehicle, the truck will hit the kid on the bike due to less collateral damage to the truck. This will guarantee a loss of life for the kid. Whereas if the truck hit the car, there is a possibility that the occupants will survive (given seatbelts, airbags, etc).
You won't need broker's either.
The bright side is these are probably safer than most of the new drivers. Also no flip flops, no fuel island breaks. The whole industry is at the bottom of the barrel so this really doesn’t surprise me.
You have my vote, please run
Ike, you’re nuts!! They’ll NEVER require us to do electronic log books!
Ike, they’ll never govern our speed to less than safe speeds. Ike, you’ve done lost your marbles, they’ll never change the driving hours which will require us to drive when tired vs regulating ourselves and taking a nap when you’re tired!!!
Ban flip-flops, HOS, non-English speakers, and log books and I’ll vote for you sure thing!
Uh huh... tell me how it goes with ice
Yeah, no kidding.
That thing ain't ready. Can't even back. 😂
Lets go back to 1986 when third brake lights became mandatory on cars it was supposed to reduce rear end accidents by 30% can we agre that worked out as planned ?
I drive let me start that first off. I honestly think this is a good thing. Shippers and Receviers are horrible. Trucking is horrible, i am ashamed of being part of this indistry. WE ARE A MESS......CLEAN UP THE INDISTRY OR GET OUT OF YOUR TRUCK>>>>>>>>
Just wait till winter,I would like to see it drive on ICE😂😂😂 Texas roads be terrible in the winter.
