Hey there. I'm 60 years old now. I live in Scotland and have always been known that my parents were set to immigrate to Tazmnia just before I was born and as silly as it sounds, I feel resentful that they changed their minds at the last minute..I truly believe in my heart that I should have been Tazmanian. I love watching all your videos. Please don't stop recording your adventures x
We are able to see the beauty of the Franklin & Gordon Rivers, through your eyes. The wild beauty and harshness of the bush. You have no fear! Im voting you for Australian of the Year 2024. ❤
@@Rob.Parsons You mentioned about if anyone wanted to do this what you've done. I might tell you I'm 63 yrs old and have not done anything like this before even if I could do just part of it I would most thankful if any any way you might be able to help me out? I will tell you I don't drive as a result of epilepsy, but it has not stopped me from doing a lot of things. You may have gotten some of my comments to you in the past. As tricky as this adventure was, to me you never seemed to not be in control and equal or better to the task. Well done young man. Never lose the itch. Best wishes for all your life. It's gonna be a beauty.

Specky views, gnarly hike and shining a light on Tassies' First Nation people, the Indigenous Australians and their humpys, homes and history is super satisfying and deserves more eyes to their heritage, song lines and Dreamtime. Cheers Rob! 👐🐾👋🔅
Hi Rob, have recently discovered your channel. Some one commented they’re surprised you don’t haven’t a million subs - I hope you get there. Your films showcase just how incredibly breathtaking our beautiful state is. Thank you so very much for sharing the history and your journey with us all. A privilege we all enjoy. 🙏
I am thoroughly enjoying your channel Rob It is just so awesome to see all these amazing majestic places in our beautiful state.. keep them coming and take care 🙂
Oh my gosh, you are one tenacious bugger! What an Adventure (not helped by some who will remain nameless!) smashing photography, considering you had limited power and were really in the thick of it. Some gorgeous river shots, sunrises, sunsets - you've taken us places we'd never ever see otherwise. Well stoked! Cheers, Rob, you are quite amazing! 😮🐾🦘😎
We’ll done mate, I immigrated to TAS some 12 years ago and still cannot grasp the beauty of the unexplored! Good on you for showing the world the wonderful place we live in!👍
I rafted the Franklin with a professional company in the late 80’s and the adventure covered a lot of what you did on the river. Thanks for bringing back the great memories and glad nothing has changed
In the 70's Truchanas's book opened me to a wondrous wilderness, that you have allowed me to accompany you through your eyes to this truly spiritual place. At my age now it's only going to be a Gordon cruise. You took me to experience so much more with your awesome adventure. The Huon pines were magnificent to see. I have so much respect for the species and the timber having used it as a young engineering patternmaker in the 70's.
Thank you Neville. I am privileged to be able to share these adventures and It makes me so much more appreciative knowing that others can find the same enjoyment in watching them.
Bloody brilliant! So glad I stumbled across this spellbinding recording of one of the most spectacular places on earth. Thank you, you’ve lifted my spirits & reminded me to put my adventure cape back on! I paddle an ocean surf ski in NNSW/ Qld but that was ballsy work dodging branches, rocks & unpredictable currents in an inflatable vessel. ✊🏼 I felt like I was right there, thank you for taking us along.
Wow. I've always wanted to see this cave ever since the archaelogical people visited there in the '80s and publicised it. Way too old to do the trip now so I'm so grateful to you for taking me there. You are very brave to have done it one your own too. This is the best doco I've seen in a long time. Sympathy for the leeches - been there etc. Hope you continue to make films of the discoveries you make, but (her's the Mum coming out) be careful and look after yourself. Cheers, Marilyn.
Wow! pretty gutsy doing that adventure on your own. Unbelievable that you didn't see one other human out there the whole time! Shows how remote you were, well done, great video.
Thanks Rob, you took my wife and I to another place in Tassie where we would and could never go. Age is a bugger. Love the whole vid but the image going down the Franklin seeing where the land finishes and the water starts and not being able to decipher where each met is amazing again. We did it with Gordon River Cruises 35yrs or so ago. It spun me out then and also today. Thanks mate you a legend.
One day this video shows up in my feed. I know it's 2 years old, but what a fantastic bit of adventure you had Mate! TO get there and to almost give up and then find the tiny little place where it actually leads up to the Cave is Crazy Lucky! I cannot go on adventures like this because I was given a physical body that cannot do very much, so watching you go on this adventure and find what your whole Purpose was for going all the way out into the Nowhere, is a terrific thing for me to watch, since I cannot ever do such things myself, so thank you from the bottom of my Heart, for taking me with you on this trip. I urge you to continue to do these kinds of things, because I never did when I was actually capable of doing them, as a young buck. Fill your life with adventure and that will be something that you can never lose, or have taken from you. Live your life, do as much adventuring as you can, do not be caught up in the world and the rat race to make as much money as you can or accumulate all kinds of things, because you can't take any of that with you when you die, only your memories and your life experiences go with you. I have never regret keeping my life humble and living frugally because so many other things in life open up when you do. Being able to catch your meal, and sleep under the stars, the simple life is much more precious than people realize, but I think you understand this concept, thoroughly. once again, thanks for taking an old crippled man with you on your adventure and I have subbed and hope to see many more adventures like this from your channel. May you have good health, and long life, and may you experience as much of this incredibly beautiful planet as possible! Cheers!
That was epic!! I actually held my breath for you a couple of times over those rapids! Those shots at the end where it was mirror image were amazing. Love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing
Loved your utube adventure! Thanks so much for that Rob. I’ve just been reading Deep Time Dreaming and they talk all about Kutikina cave ( and how it saved the Franklin) so I went in search to have a look and came upon your intrepid trip which was fantastic! I’ve often wondered if you could go there by trailer sailer as we also have one, but no way!! I’m going to send this to my sons to inspire them to go adventuring! I look forward to watching your other adventures!👍😎
Thank for the inspiration. I just moved to a new country and starting my RUclips Channel was a way I got myself settled in. Your videos give me inspiration to go that little bit further. 🙏
Awesome. We have the same soul. I did a lot of similar adventuring when I was your age. Now Im dying to do it again. These rivers are beautiful, their reflections are the glassiest Ive seen. Im glad you found the cave.
Fabulous adventure and video Rob. My partner (an archaeologist) and I are just getting into packrafting but with the combo of that and the sail boat and the hiking makes this a trip we'd love to take! It's on our bucket list now!
So Amazing, loved every minute of this video, what an epic adventure you had Rob, imagine what it may have been like all those thousands of years ago with lush grasslands to accompany the journey. Thank you Rob, for giving us a peek into your world.
Thank you, Rob, your Spectacular Cine/Video work is mesmerising. I had my heart in my mouth numerous times when you were approaching the rapids. You are Fearless without being Reckless Exploreer, Who Dares Wins. Beautiful work mate. So glad the Franklin River was preserved when corrupt, greedy people tried to flood it. Great effort to find the cave, and bring to light some of our Indigenous brothers and sisters' History. Cheers from Michael. Australia.
Double Fall is easily runnable for people with well developed white water skills. Under no circumstances is it recommended to run Big Fall, it is an incredibly deceptive and dangerous rapid. The Franklin River is not a place to learn white water skills. Glad you were suitably conservative at Double Fall. Consider wearing a life jacket on further pack rafting trips. Thanks for your contribution in recording information about SW Tasmania esp the Jane River. Take care.
Just discovered this channel. Such good content, good humble delivery, excellent film making, fantastic introduction/history. How the hell do you have 6.7k subs and not 1 million?! Keep delivering this kind of quality content and big RUclips success is guaranteed
Georgeous Rob.... we just did Gordon River cruise 🙂 so Levi sent us your vid... just spectacular. Those trees at the end look like they’re floating in the sky!! Thanks for sharing, brilliant! 🤎💚🤎
Good on you young fellow. I'm getting on a bit and have an on going barney with the Reaper, and had sort of given up hope of doing this sort of thing. This is inspirational stuff and relight dreams this south western Victorian has of exploring the Macquarie Harbour and Gordon - Franklin region someday. Keep it up. Well done👍 Thanks.
G'day James, you might like to see the Franklin gordon with a rafting tour. I know many groups they take are older generation and enjoy it quite throughly. best of luck with it mate I hope you get the opportunity.
wow thanks guys, I got super lucky and RUclips pushed out my adamsfield video for a couple of days to new people like yourself. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Wow wow and wow Man that was one epic adventure it had everything, car trip, boat, hike, camp, adventure, exploration, kayak my mind is green with envy
