How badass is Crossy tackling the south west scrub and cave hunting! What did you guys think of this video? I’d love to know in the comments below and please share! Patreon link: www.patreon.com/robparsons
wow man that was epic, Crossy is a legend like you said. Kudo's for showing us what you see on these adventures, be awesome footage to have a full pro cinematography crew with you!
I love your channel which I discovered by accident. I used to live in Tassie for awhile in the Glazier's Bay area and did some rock climbing and caving. Sadly I didn't get to see the area's you explore, but I just love your sense of history and telling of the history, as well as watching your explorations. I am getting a bit to old to now do this, but love watching...thanks again so much. Cheers from Sth Australia.
@@Rob.Parsons I started off by seeing your Footsteps of the Franklins videos. I just loved it. Your video's take me back to a more carefree time I had in Tassie, then my brother lived there, so it took hold of 2 of us. Thanks again from Vicki
Crossy and Evonne have well over 60 years experience looking for hard to find things. They know their west coast ground as well as any west coasters there ever were. Very few West Coasters alive have ever heard of these entirely unexplored Gordon River cave systems. Obviously, that's why the convict piners called it Limestone Kiln Reach, from around1830. Great Gordon limestone cave/midden video cobber, well Goproed. Remember to ask him about Thylacines and middens next trip down that wild reflective river. Rorocs, Tasmania
You have some great people as friends Rob , The pleasure of the area combined with the Pain that the convicts must has lived in past times makes me sad .
Those later bricks have a shallow frog (an indentation to pick up more mortar, which was used from around the mid-19th century onwards). I'd say they are decades younger than the penal settlement on Sarah Island, which was closed in 1833. If you have the measurements and a few close-up pictures, there are historians who can tell fairly accurately when they were manufactured. Very interesting find!
Disregard this advice and instead research Tartaria yourself. There is MUCH info to dive into. I would suggest starting with the Tartaria Truthers channel right here on yt. Even if half of what Casey and JoJo present is real, it is mind blowing. You have been lied to about Australian history. Australia was FOUNDED or SETTLED, not DISCOVERED. I'm pleased to have this opportunity to guide you towards our TRUE history. Have fun, mate!
OLD Civilisation in Tasmania, reflecting water, Island plumbing and buried Pyramids? Live virtually your bush walk, with digital realism. Gold, Sapphires, Diamonds, in the river - Wow! Great video. Cheers. Brad.
Thoroughly enjoyed this brought back memories of a trip we did in our boat spending five nights up there. Just started chemo and I realised tonight just have to get better so we can do it again. Thanks for this great trip. The Caves were fantastic.👏👏👏👏👏👏
Man! Those caves! Hidden gems. I used to explore the Mt Etna region (just North of Rockhampton, QLD). There are some stunning caves in those ranges hidden away from the average tourist.
Thanks Rob, your productions just keep on getting better. Hanging out to come visit again and do some more bushwalking in Tassie, Australia’s best state.
Rob, I never get tired of seeing the Gordon River there seems to be something new to be found on it, or as you make your way off the river and head inland. In this video see your beautiful girlfriend's soon to be wife Erin, and the meeting up with Von, and Captain Crossey who would go on your adventure. And what adventure it was it was with you and Crossey making your way into a magnificent cave. Thanks once again Rob for this adventure........Pete from Devonport
Once again you nailed it Rob. So nice to share it with other adventurous people and what a lovely old boat the Kelly Basin is along with her trusty tender. The Gordon has such epic reflections. I sense Erin might have been bitten by the bug. Cheers DB
Another great video Rob. Thanks. It was lovely to see Erin exploring those lime kilns with you. I couldn't be sure but during your cave exploration, I think I noticed a patch of helictites. These are sideways growing stalactites and they're very unusual. How they form is a bit of a mystery. I always enjoy your videos. The images you capture are often memorable but mostly I love the whimsy in your narration.
Loads of moonmilk in there as well not as rare as the helictites but interesting none the less you normally find it near to the surface in caves and is probably formed by bacteria it’s usually a soft paste that you can easily dig your fingers into but sometimes it can harden to form those sort of bubbly stalactite formations
The beauty of Tassie wilderness blows me away, Rob you have done an incredible job with this one mate! I have only been fortunate to be on the Gordon once and it is something I will treasure forever. Thanks for another adventure and really appreciate the effort it takes to make these videos.
Fantastic Rob, what an adventure once again. That cave was unbelievable mate and the lime kiln incredible. How majestic is the Gordon River and that beautiful rainbow 🌈. Thanks again Rob and friends.
Wow even the crappy little gopro sensor couldn't mask the beauty of those morning shots of the Gordon River LOL. Must have been magical to see it in real life. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Great vid Rob, you really do some very interesting work. These adventure videos will become time pieces and very good historical guides. Well done mate
Lovely explore was down your way just as covid hit had to cut short the trip didn't want to get locked down in Victoria on the way back to NSW Will be back this summer with 4WD and camper looking at at least two months as I know from the short 3 week visit there is much to see indeed a amazing place indeed steeped in history and old mines to explore hello from Lightning Ridge opal miner here
Third comment from me, sorry. Isn't it cool how nature reclaims what we humans made if we abandon it. I lived in a remote bay in FNQ in the early 80s. The last residents of that tiny community left in the late 80s. I revisited the place in 2011 and the forest had completely taken over. Some small stone walls and old wire fencing were all that could be found in the rainforest.
Hey mate good video. I've been watching your stuff since your first vid as I was doing research into the Jane river. The newer videos are spot on if you ask me. This one as well as the footsteps of the Franklin have a really good pace and tone. The subtle haunting music paired with the images in this video captures the essence of the place really well. Having that more understated approach to the music I think takes the whole cinematography to another level. To just film and talk over the footage and provide some insight into your day or what you have found is the perfect medium. These vids are perfectly packed with interesting info and images without there being too long and rambling. Id say the channel will grow steadily with content like this and I wish you all the best.
Really lovely - the reflections truly are epic. Great to see Erin tagging along. The cave was great really neat formations. hope it doesn't get too popular. Thanks for a leisurely adventure - nice not to see you battling the leaches!!
Great that you two found the cave and took us along. lol. There are a number of old limestone kiln sites along the foreshore of Mornington Peninsula, many of which produced the powder for cement to build Melbourne. It was good to see the old site set in the forest in Tassie. Nice photography especially sailing along the river. The reflection reminded me of what I've seen in New Zealand.
We gaze upon this land as strangers .. you love the country .. talk to country .. ask to enter .. thank it say you will live & honor & protect it & watch what happens
The glassy water is beautiful. Up in Far North Queensland, around September, the ocean and the wind dies on some mornings and it is smooth and clear, making it hard to pick the horizon when looking from the beach.
Hey mate, I have recently found your channel :) I am from Tassie and am moving back for the first time in 6 years. My fitness and brittle bones (disease not coz im old lol) won't handle the insane ones you do like frenchmans cap. But I would love if you know a bit of a beginner list of walks to do which are less ankle snapping :). Like the long liffey falls one etc. I am keen to get my fitness back and explore what I missed out on because I took my childhood and early licence years for granted and didn't experience the true beauty of my own back yard.
I've been lucky enough to photograph those epic reflections on the Gordon, its a stunning area! Fascinating to see the cave, did it extend very far in Rob? Great vid, nice to see the history too.
Love your work! Suddenly homesick for my beautiful Tassie. So many opportunities for you and your Gopro Rob - Bruny Island, maybe the lighthouse?? Tasman Island by boat? More please, I'm hooked.

Hey Logsie, sounds like you're talking about Kubla Kahn. It's on private land. You need to belong to a caving club to access it and have very good rope skills. The last I knew there were only 72 allowed per year to visit.... Highly protected. You can do a search for Kubla Kahn cave in images and see the pics taken by the cavers... Truly awesome!!!
