    Danielle. Today I bought my first Vanda!!!! Beautiful deep purple 💜💜💜. Very expensive! 🫰 Wish me luck to make her happy in full water culture. 🙏🏽. I’m sure that following your instructions she will be ok because you are the best in YT. All my phals are doing fantastic with this method. Thank you. 💜💜💜

      Congratulations! I’m sure it will do well for you! Mine took several years to bloom but I think it was because it needed better light. Once I have it that it hasn’t stopped blooming!

      @@daniellesorchidranch1591Thanks for answering me! Mine is in bloom now. 💜 I know it will take time for her to re bloom again. I do not mind as far as she survives and grows good roots (the ones she has now look not too good) and I have the perfect spot for her. Warm, with good lighr and ventilation and even some moments of sun. I am in Barcelona, Spain so lots of humidity in the summer here . I am positive she will be ok. When I discovered your channel I started buying and rescuing phals like crazy 😂 I did not like them before (because they always died on me) but now they are so happy with your method that I ventured myself with a Vanda. Thank you for this new hobby/passion. 💜💜💜

    She looks so beautiful in that glass vase😃 and her root system is the proof your method can be very successful as long as it is done properly ❤️😍

    Hello lovely lady ❤🙌🏼❤last year, last ditch effort, I put a Rhynchostylis cross with coerulea into a semi hydro set up because I just cannot get the roots to grow. I don't have long enough roots to have in water either, it is the hardest thing to keep hydrated, so I am hoping that the humidity with the SH will be something that will work, or else she will be struggling all the time. At least I can see a new leaf starting... love the roots on your's! I remember the static you got back in the day... you handled it like a trooper and are now the Water Culture Guru 👍🏼👍🏼 I cannot think of any channel that does not watch your videos as a reference when they want to try water culture! Thank you so much for joining in, taking the time out of your busy schedule ❤🙌🏼❤ have a beautiful weekend 🥰🌸

      Hello my friend Nina!
      How lovely of you to say! The whole purpose of my channel is to help people who want to grow in WC to succeed! I’m so glad if that is actually the case and there is nothing I enjoy more than hearing I’ve helped someone!
      Rhynchostylis are a tough nut to crack. Mine used to bloom in my old home with poor light, now with better light and humidity they are growing really well but have not bloomed 🤨 I do really enjoy their striped leaves though so I try to be content with that 🤓.
      I hope your plant takes to SH well and is growing new roots soon!
      Thank you for including me in this care collab and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

    💚 THANK YOU Danielle!!! 💚 I grow bare root soaking daily and fertilizing weekly @ 500-600 ppm. My 7 grow like weeds with no root burn. No 🖤 blooms either. 😢 Getting ready to put them out in semi sun daily. Spring has sprung in Arizona 🎋 It's definitely all about light here, I swear.
    Kisses 😘 and hugs 🤗 to your little (probably not so little anymore) puppy! 🐾💕🐾

      I’m absolutely in love with the blooms on mine (I know you have a Sansai Blue as well) wait until you see them in person! Big gorgeous blue/purple that are just awesome!
      Sending hugs and positive orchid vibes back from me and all the fuzzy children and yes Knightley is HUGE!! He has tripled in size. He’s only 3 months and he is probably almost 30 lbs! 😳🤓😆

    I tried water culture with a vanda, believe me or not… when We were still living in an apartment, I have not started my RUclips channel yet… I did it because I was watching a RUclips channel who grew a vanda in water culture… Guess who it was. 😉 I was one of those watching yours and thinking “Looks easy”… little I did know, I didn’t understand what vandas wanted, Almost killed it. I still want to try water culture based on what I know now and what you are showing us but still 🐥 about it. 😅 and honestly, with my condition now, I don’t need to. The one I almost killed back then, it is still alive though.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 года назад +2

      😂 believe me, I may make it look easy now and in a way it is very easy once you get the hang of it. But in the beginning it was a lot of second guessing, frustration and trying different solutions to make the plants happy.
      I still have my failures but now instead of thinking my method is wrong I realize failure is just a part of growing orchids. No matter how long you’ve been growing.
      Like you said, once we understand what the plants want we can satisfy that and find success.

    Great video, thank you! Might try full water culture with one of my vandas. I'm growing my Rhynchostylis in a semi-hydro set-up and they are doing fine.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591

      Thank you for watching Martina!
      They do seem to enjoy the constant humidity/moisture that water culture provides.
      I grow in my home so keeping ambient humidity high is not really an option.
      As soon as this plant was put in WC the roots started growing like crazy! The one down side is algae. My vanda will dump her roots if I don’t keep the algae under control. Something I wish I’d remembered to mention in my video 😬

    • @martinafaust4851
      @martinafaust4851 2 года назад

      Danielle, what do you do against the algae? How do you treat it?

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 года назад

      @@martinafaust4851 I try to keep some type of cover on the vase, I just transferred it to this vase so I haven’t made one yet. It cuts down on the light available to the algae. I also use a liquid barley extract in my water, which is something they use to control algae in ponds, and every time I change the water I try to remove any algae that is sticking to the roots.
      The very best thing is to cover the vase though, it makes a huge difference. Or you could use a container that is not clear.

    Such a gorgeous plant and the bloom is just as stunning. I am looking for a way to grow another vanda in my home and I may have to try this. I do have a hybrid phal and species phal currently being tested in water culture. (I had two Bellina so am using one of those). I am going to have to watch some of your other videos to see what I may need to do. Thank you

    • @TrishsOrchidLife

      I appreciate that! So with the bellina I keep some water at the base during her “dry” cycle. Do you think that is a good idea? The hybrid is empty for hers. Bellina is dry for one day and the hybrid for three.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 года назад +1

      @@TrishsOrchidLife well I keep mine with a little water all year long. In winter just enough to touch bottom roots, when it gets warmer then I raise the level to a little higher. I also soak the whole root system once a week.
      So mine are in full water culture but you can do semi water culture and give them some dry days if you prefer.
      In my environment it prefers full water culture but I grow in my home where humidity is never more then 50%. Your environment may not be that dry.
      I really just recommend watching the plant, it will tell you by drooping leaves or dehydrated looking leaves and also if the root tips are thriving in the warmer months if it needs more water or not.

    I have a question Danielle, do you let your Vanda roots dry out completely on occasion? And, did the roots that sit in the water, ever turn black or mushy on the tips, when first put into water culture? Thank you
