  • We're kicking off an epic battle to make sure that girls everyehere keep their confidence throughout puberty and beyond, and making a start by showing them that doing it #LikeAGirl is an awesome thing.
    Director Lauren Greenfield talks about her involvement with the Always #LikeAGirl social experiment and how girls deal with confidence issues when growing up. The campaign redefines #LikeAGirl from being an insult to being an expression of strength and amazingness.
    "This project is a fantastic and vital opportunity to empower girls (and educate our audience) to always align the expression #LIKEAGIRL with the meaning of strength, confidence and empowerment." -- Lauren Greenfield, director of the #LikeAGirl social experiment film.

      ***** not all men are strong either. some can be just as "weak" as women. your delusional if you think that all men are athletic and strong.

    • @Selena101
      @Selena101 10 лет назад

      Lol really? Some men throw balls faster than other men but does that make them a girl/women. In high school there were some girls i knew who can throw a baseball faster than the guys pitcher but does that make them any lesser than the girls who could throw faster. By the way, i played soccer in school, which is mostly considered a mans sport yet i was able to compete with guys my age.

    • @Selena101
      @Selena101 10 лет назад +1

      on average, yes women are weaker than men physically but there will always be skills that women have that men cant do and vice versa, therefore, it doesn't justify inequality. that is my point. being born a girl is not a reason to treat them like shit and neither to men. Men are also pressured in society (americans) to be "gentleman" "bread winners" "strong" "fearless" "smart" "fit", however, not all men fit these standards and are treated differently in society as well. so this is more about both genders and the social standards that have been developed in society for hundreds of years.

    I absolutely love this ad! It's so inspiring and really acts as a wake up call for me and most girls I would say. I don't know since when, I also would also make comments such as " you scream like a girl", "you act like a girl", "that's girly", etc... In a sense, I was disrespecting myself and looking down on my own gender. We, girls/women are our own biggest enemy! If we can't even learn to respect ourselves, how in the world do we expect others to respect us. Confidence is important and takes time and effort to build.Never let others bring you down, and more important don't bring yourself down. I look forward to more inspiring videos like this... It's so simple yet has such a huge effect as we can see how we, women, truly see ourselves.

    You know what really makes teenage girls feel bad about themselves?
    Other girls' comments. It's women who notice other women's makeup, shoes, hair, etc., and then proceed to critique it.
    That's not to say that this is not a problem since it's just "in-fighting" among women, just that it's a much stronger contributing factor than the phrase "throw like a girl".

      Calum. Open any random magazine aimed at women and it will be plastered with ''10 WAYS TO WIN HIS ATTENTION'' ''TOP 5 DIETS TO LOSE WEIGHT QUICK" "BEST MAKE-UP TO BUY TO HIDE YOUR HIDEOUS NATURAL FACE".
      We are literally subjected to the idea of altering and bettering our whole bodies to please MEN. Since the white male is seen as the standard that everything has to appeal to.
      That's just how our culture is, and it's sad. And being told ''You x like a girl'' is just the tip of the iceberg.

      ***** I understand now ^-^ but I think the video was more directed as how we can start to use "like a girl" as a compliment, so to speak rather than "why." For example, "like a girl" is stating everything a girl does is bad whereas "like a man" is good, but you can be as graceful as a girl (however I doubt people will use that simile xD) or as flexible as a girl. Also, females are programmed differently in their heads with a sense of NEEDING to belong, something hard to conquer for young girls especially with negativity around. Boys dont care as much because the average male doesnt have as much of this chemical in their brain, however girls do. This causes them to be easily hurt and cling to others words more because females are programmed to accept and belong and be the more "submissive" person. So its important to try and empower women, not to bring them over men, but to give them a firm structure to stand on when their own minds are telling them otherwise. So yes, you can say to just reject others words as much as you want, but it is easier for men because they tend to be more dominent and stubborn-minded, whereas females tend to be more deep, overly considerate and ulitmately "sensitive" and insecure. Just some 2 cents. (Ps- not saying men cant be deep or considerate, but it is easier and more common for women than for men)

    There's no reason to beat up this video. Sure that potty mouth video that came from FKH8 was quite terrible but this is a beautiful advertisement. It's not about women or girls playing victim. Or about a feminist pushing her opinions so people will show pity toward women.
    It is true, girls at that age need support and growing confidence. They don't need to be told they are any less than due to their gender. I think people are overlooking the main issue here, that is the significance of a healthy emotional and mental development amongst young girls.

    This video isn't about men and them insulting or women being weak, all its saying is that people are takeing "like a girl" as an insult when it dosent need to be that way. "Like a girl"could be a complement and an insult but it really means nothing the only way it could hurt some one is if they think its an insult and take it to heart, but if someone say that to you all you need to say is thank you if your a girl, and so? If your a guy. Its not really that big of a deal, just leave it and continue with what you were doing if someone says it.

    No ones identity is that fragile that they break down over that. They might if you go out of your way to insult them repeatedly, I've been told by girls I run like a girl and I didn't kill myself or anything.

    This almost makes me mad, as a guy I don't see why girls should get this attention. Guys and girls have very different problems, most bulling for guys can be getting your ass kicked while girls, it's usually just words. There are exceptions of coarse but guys never get this type of sympathy, guys don't get hugged when there crying or sad, we are told to suck it up or "your a pussy" I honestly think that guys and girls are equal but feminist don't want to accept that, they wanna take it the extra mile and keep going with vids like these. When "you hit like a girl" was really meant to be an insult to a guy. And domestic violence cases, there just laughed at when a woman hits a man, but when a man hits a women "oh shit, what a fucking disgrace, I hate him, he's being fired for his job. I believe that now the roles are shifting and maybe women are getting the benefit not men and we aren't equal. YES IK IM SALTY just a little pissed hope you understand my opinion.

      Feminism: the fight for equality in all genders. The fight so men CAN show their emotions; so male domestic abuse WON'T be laughed at; so all rape cases will be treated equally. That is what feminism is. Fighting for EQUAL RIGHTS. Women have the lower hand in society; that is known, even by anti-feminists, that is why the fight is called feminism. But there are also factors in life where men do have the disadvantages and will feel secluded. Any "feminist" that says they'll only ever fight for womens rights, even when those rights have been met, is not a real feminist in my eyes.

      Lauren If it is fighting for equal rights why is that in the history of the feminist movement, no action was ever taken to talk about men's problems?

    • @laurenhayley0
      @laurenhayley0 9 лет назад

      drooleybob If you had something really really problematic in your life that causes you a lot of grief, you would sort that out before you worry about the things that still have an equal importance but with comparatively less urgency. That's what the feminist movement really focus on. The rights of men are just as important as females but its about the sheer lack of rights women have in comparison. So, when more rights are given to women, the more society can focus on men's problems too. Also, many changes to female rights can have a positive affect on male rights too.

      Ok. You're totally uncoordinated and don't leave the shallow end of the pool too. Better. How about "you look like a girl, or a woman." Offensive? Hope conscription comes back and you can sweat out that letter from Uncle Sam. You haven't any problem with that do you, if it should come to fruition. Lot of mouthing off by women about being able to do soldiering. Hope you get a shot at it.

    Always is a feminine product...why are commercials now trying to promote something other than their product...and agenda of sorts. Hey, let's try to change lovely feminine characteristics of females (how they naturally delicately run, fight, throw) into gender neutrality. This does more damage to women--women now are told to fight their soft, tender-hearted instincts to become hardened. With all this female hardening, it seems like men are just becoming more dominant towards them. It's having the opposite effect of what women REALLY want. To be loved and cherished. Now women are either "toughed up" or "sexed up" and men treat both types badly.
