And because he was scared to be called a creep again ...he didn't help her friend who fell on the ground 🤦♀. unfortunately these are the serious consequences... and people end up fearing if they try to help someone , it will be misinterpreted as something sinister . Really sad times we live in.
As a woman, I would offer my seat to a pregnant woman, an elderly person, or a disabled one, but her attitude would make me sit still in my seat. Ask kindly, and people are likely to respond, but that sense of entitlement irks me, no matter what that person’s condition appears to be. You have no idea what other people are going through, so never assume that you know.
Have you ever been 37 weeks pregnant and riding a bus? If you had, you wouldn't take her rudeness or "entitlement" so personally, might have cut her some slack, and let her have the damn seat.
Simply wonderful. The ecosystem on the bus was incredibly intense and only grew more so as the film progressed, Thanks to all the wonderful players in this film for such a humbling performance. Aloha!
This short film us great. It really portrays the nuances and complexity of actual lives. The wide variety of comments taking different sides and giving different viewpoints is a proof if that. Here's my take. People shouldn't be entitled to receive other's seat because they are pregnant or old or disabled. If the person in front gives their seat then it's great, this would make them a good person. But conversely refusing to give up the seat also doesn't make them a bad person either. My reasoning behind this is that people should be individualistic and their actuons should largely be based on how the outcome would affect them. Now many people would disagree with me and say that giving up the seat for a disabled (elderly, or pregnant woman) is the basic duty of everyone. I believe the principle reasoning behind this is that people should consider their actions affects the society at large (not just them). When we extend this thinking more we also come to the point where most of our decision is dictated by how the people around us perceive it and affects them. This is where arranged marriages (spouse selected by primary apporval of parents, extended family, and society) comes into play. This is the thinking behind many of the customs and rituals of many "traditional" societies. This is something I'm not alot approving of. All these explains just the man's decision to not give up his seat. There's a lot to be said about all other characters involved in this film.
1:30 To Everybody thinking why don't just ask someone else for a seat. You see here she would be sitting next to a child. But otherwise she would be sitting next to a grown man (can't happen in Pakistan). I can understand this didn't came to your mind.

Initially, I felt so bad for her when the man didn't give up his seat, and I thought what a monster, what sort of message is he teaching his son by being so cruel? But then when she filmed him and threatened to shame him online in front of his son, I thought what a monster she is; to film someone without their consent is pure evil. At the end, it seems they both regret behaving so badly and hopefully will become better people in the future.
Also she looks to be fine. As a woman don’t expect someone to give up things for you especially if you’re a stranger bust because you’re pregnant. The world doesn’t revolve around you. If she looked to be in pain or discomfort then yeah. But she looks fine and was able to walk to the bus stop and stand and wait for it.
Even before she did that she accused him of trying to touch her and screamed it all over the bus to embarrass him just bc she was mad and felt entitled. No one has to give you their seat on the bus, yea it could be considered rude but that still doesn’t mean they have to. She went out of her way to embarrass, belittle and harass that man & she could have asked someone else without a child for a seat. Why did she want to separate the dad from the son? She was definitely worse in this situation
This is the new world. People will photograph and record everything to get "likes" on Tik Tok, RUclips, FB, Snapchat. the more extreme the situation the better. It will get more views.
What a reflection of Pakistani society. You have to live here to know what it’s like… the incessant male gaze and lack of security. The fact that if there is someone kind, their kindness is laughed upon or taken in the wrong context. The bystanders who never help but only enjoy or gather around an issue with their phones to see what the drama is. The main character (the girl) is a by-product of this society. A self-centred untrusting woman.
Interesting. I know it looks sad and all that. But, this is how humans are. In one place or time. Addicted to an aspect of life for the self. Without a shred of empathy.
The fact that there is a "woman's section" on the bus is disgraceful. The fact that no one offered her a seat is equally as disgraceful. However, the worst part is how social media has made everyone heartless voyeurs. She couldn't wait to find something to post on Facebook and all the rest of the idiots couldn't wait to pull out their phones to record her foolish actions. What a mess!
Segregation is a very common thing in Pakistan, because the population is largely Muslim. It's mostly preferred by women here. The women's section is by no means lower of worse than the men's, it's just so that practicing Muslim women don't feel discomfort around men.
While we don't know the backstory, getting pregnant without being in a committed relationship where the child will have provided for is disgraceful. Women want equality, then she must be treated like a man. Maybe she is pregnant, who cares, its just a clump of cells, right. Cafeteria feminism is sickening. Much of the world rejects modern western morals. Modern women often overreact, blame others and play the victim as is depicted in this scene.
sometimes i do see men around me like obviously wary that im an underage girl alone and try not to get into much contact, i always say thanku and make sure to act friendly but ik not every girls the same and theres a lot of wanting to b a victim, especially bc of tiktok making ppl want to go viral for pity views. i remember once a kid fell into me and i put my arms out so they wouldnt face plant into me and his mum pulled him away from me and said dont touch my child rlly loudly on a bus. it was horrible
This is a horrible take. I’m sorry you’re being made to believe some women want to be victims when that is statistically not accurate against the amount of women actually victimized. She’s 9 month pregnant. If you ever experience that, you will understand. You SHOULD BE prioritized in that condition. You would be bringing a life into the world. Stress could kill the baby. No reason to make a pregnant woman more stressed or anxious ever.
@@nolosiento_1563 its been a while since ive watched this video so i scrolled thru the comments to remember. the woman was horrible towards the man. she bought the stress upon herself. and yes there are women who want to be victims i see it everyday tho i understand they're just the vocal minority against the many women who are victims.
0:20 What he called her (gudiya) literally means a doll but isn’t typically sexual, often being used by older folks like “honey” or “sweetie” for a woman when you don’t know their name and “madam” feels too formal.
The woman was rude and agresive with the man. She even hit his arm. That was so so wrong. I'm a woman, I've been pregnant twice, I understand her but IT IS NOT A JUSTIFICATION to be mean and even agresive with him. And all the other people my goodness!!! 🙄🙄🤦♀️🤦♀️.. That's ours society now, every thing is recorded and posted on social media affecting personal lives. Great short film!!
Do you know what's the problem here? Everyone is trying to blame the men or the woman instead of seeing the problem. Nobody left a seat for a pregnant woman! Maybe she went for the only men with a child thinking it could be the only one that could gave her the seat but didn't, at the end he saw what she already knew entering in that bus. She couldn't trust them. She's pregnant, she's having the baby in the end. Do you know what it means having another living life inside yourself, with all the consequences affecting your body? She might be a little too angry, but if it was a men who fought a war and someone said no to him, uuh the bus would stop in that moment just to make the bus empty for him to seat. Heartbreaking, stunning film. Before men and women we are people living on this earth.
Idk why y’all act like people strangers are supposed to get on their knees and do stuff for you just because you have something going on the world doesn’t revolve around you get over yourself no one cares if you’re pregnant or not people have their own lives to worry about
i am in both of their sides,i live in an arab country and as a woman u only recieve disrespect and harrasement and assault from men and manipulation from women, she was mad, she had to film that since no one believes what u go through,i wouldn't do that but i understand her tho,the man should've given her a seat, she's 9 months pregnant and it's not hard to give her that since at that time there were no seats in the women's section, but eventually he felt shamed because he didn't think it'll go that far especially by that getting posted online since people would call him a harasser, still eventually he protected her from all the men filming her and ofc, he's now posted online.
The 'snapshot' short film is its own artistic genre; audience doesn't see before or after, just stay in moment with characters. This was well done and rings true: everybody is a f¥cked up person, in their own way, dealing with their own sh*t; but nobody is a cartoon villain. 21st century social commentary - the obsession with social media turns people in your path into fodder to be broadcast for amusement or obnoxious righteous indignation, from anywhere in the world. Nice subtle moments: hybrid English- Urdu language, crude reference to 'Western women', college friend shedding a little bit of light on protagonist backstory for context without expounding, expressions of resentment and exhaustion on face of female lead actor and expression of horror on male lead's face while holding the curtain and calling his son away from the voyeur men. Solid cinematography and editing, as well as main actors' skill creating 3-dimensional characters.
@Frithia5281 Everyone recording or streaming is a voyeur to some extent, creating a distorted reality TV show. My point was that the father was holding the curtain to shield the women anxiously pulled his son away from all the men sitting around him in that section. The message I got was that he didn't want his son to think the behavior of these 'men' was acceptable to him. The pregnant woman was going Urdu versión of Karen on him by accusing and streaming him, but even though he was rightly pissed at her, his instinct was to protect a woman in a vulnerable position from the view of skumm-bags who wanted to gawk at her. I think his character was well-written and performed; someone who may not be 'nice' or 'friendly', who may be short-tempered and express annoyance- that guy can still be a basically decent person.
If I was riding a crowded bus in my final month of pregnancy, I would have asked a woman for a seat, especially in a country where the seating is segregated. But if I was in the USA and there were only males on the bus, I wouldn't ask a father who had his young son riding with him. This film was very good and it kept my interest, but it didn't seem realistic. I also think it had an undertone of portraying "western" women in a certain way and that was sort of uncool.
Very well done short. It does say a lot about society in general whether there or most places in the world. I use social media but not to the extent that I’m oblivious to my surroundings or looking for likes or think I have to photograph or video and post non stop. Very well acted by all !
8:00 here they are saying: Be brave, have courage. God will protect, God will protect. relax, relax. give her water take of her bag. let's take her to the hospital.
That woman was willing to make that father look like a shitbag because he didn't want to give up his seat in the men's section where she was at. That's a dangerous woman right there. Those are the type of people who destroy other people's careers and lives because they didn't get what they want. And all too often the simple might that go along with them despite knowing that they are in the wrong. There's a mens and women section on the bus. Stop putting the onus on one person he has a right to be on that bus just like anybody else. No one deserves to be treated like that because someone else didn't get what they want.
He said he was teaching his son... Someone should stand for the lady, we do that in my country. Someone ALWAYS gets up, no need to ask. I feel like the main message here is to choose kindness before the world becomes more hostile. Kindness inspires more kindness, hostility creates more hostility whether its spread on tiktok or fb or just through way of life.
It happens here in Lahore as well, where this film was shot. People would be falling over each other to offer her a seat. Somehow the set of people in this particular bus were not kind enough .
@Frithia5281 because that would have changed the whole point of the video. The whole point of the movie was that noone gave her the seat. I'm sure if she asked a woman or another man they might have given her a seat but then the whole message would be lost.
Absolutely brilliant!!! Not a tinge short of brilliance... The screenplay, the acting, the direction, the dialogues and the music... Aahhhh... THANK YOU!
This bus is so chaotic. I would hope that if this happened in real life that there was a emergency services and that lady is not forced to deliver a baby by herself on a dirty bus.
She probably can't easily go to the women's section because the bus is obviously moving. It's risky for her to move around like that, so she wanted to get a seat right in the area where she entered the bus. As you can see, there are stairs to get to the women's section and it looks a bit rigorous for a 9-month pregnant to get to while the bus moves. You know she's like carrying something so heavy that makes her lowerback ache and kakes it harder for her to bend down. I get that she's overreacted, but guys it's science - it's a fact. Most women at this point in their pregnancy have their emotions all over the place. Plus, she's got no one but herself in this pregnancy journey. She's probably so stressed and exhausted, both physically and emotionally. She's extremely vulnerable. I've read here in the comments that in the culture here, women don't normally sit beside any men, but can with children. Imo, she also maybe chose to ask him because she saw that he's a parent so she might be expecting he'd understand more than any of the men in that area. Plus, really you can't deny that the man was sarcastic and rude in his response, the first time she asked him.
If she can get out of the house, walk towards the bus stop, climb the stairs leading into the bus and walk up to the man, create a scene, falsely accuse him of harrasment and physically assault him she can take the extra two steps and just walk to the women's section.

@@Anto_81 She attacked a stranger who was innocently sitting down trying to help his son with his schoolwork. He was under no obligation to give her his seat. But she demanded it. I think some people in audience are missing out on the cultural context in this film. there are so many social elements shown here. Most importantly, a woman in the public is an anomaly in Pakistan; a woman on the street already is not seen as "respectful" and one who is not wearing hijab or shawl is an even "lesser" woman in the society. Groping is extremely common. maybe these men justify it in their heads that the woman was already outside her house so probably she is not a "good" woman. but then again, sexual and physical abuse by family members is extremely common for women who stay at home as well. It is a very dark but hidden evil of pakistani society (and many others). women usually stay quiet and or are forced to stay quiet about it because she is the one who is seen as "used" or "dishonored". she is left with frustration and anger alone, as you can see in this film too.
I watched most of this without realizing there were subtitles. The way the full.screen works on my phone, you can't see the caption, which made it kind of Interesting
The girl is wrong here. Just because you need a seat, does NOT mean it's your "right" to get the seat others are sitting on. Also, if someone offers a seat, then it's good. Else, girls, please learn to use "please" and instead of feeling "entitled", learn to "request" (with a "please"). That might help in many situations.
But why ask the one guy sitting and helping his son? couldve asked anyone.. couldve looked more and seen she can sit with another friend who knew her from college instead of harassing and screaming at a stranger . Great short! Not sure why she approached the only man in the back of the bus that was obviously helping his child w/studies. All the other men she could've approached she chose him. Sus to me! Maybe she just thought that since he was a parent he'd automatically get up. IDK....everyone just needs to be more kind and show love! :)
I think she should have made an announcement to the bus and held her clothes to show how pregnant she was, if indeed she was going to make a scene. "Is anybody well enough to lend me their seat for a few miles?" would have gone over much better than this shite she did. And if nobody offered and you really want to go to fb about it, then film everyone not helping you. If everyone treats her like dirt for not having a husband, then I can see where she'd develop a chip on her shoulder, but naturally that will only underscore their impression that she's unlovable. It is a sad story. It would be nice if doctors made home visits.
a believing woman cant sit near with a strange man but can sit near with a boy. the option she had was to ask a woman in the ladies section to give her a seat or a man in men's section with a boy in the nearby seat
I think no one has an obligation to give up his/her seat for someone pregnant. Pregnancy is a choice, and everyone must undertaken the outcome of own personal choice.
Sorry, but in the US, a certain segment of our society rebels against teaching morality in public school. Unless it is a publicly supported religious school, then they like it just fine.
I have so many emotions actually going through my mind right now. Like when I was pregnant no one helped me, my husband would take the car to work while I took the bus.
Also there's like 50 other men who aren't with their son. She should've looked around and found someone else instead of making a scene.

This kind of treatment of women comes from a primitive religion that no one has the courage to challenge.
That is very sad
Interesting. I know it looks sad and all that. But, this is how humans are. In one place or time. Addicted to an aspect of life for the self. Without a shred of empathy.
Why do you accuse her of being self centered?
@@KittyququmberBecause she was?
Lol, maybe the women's section is a safe-place demanded by the females?

Real face of society

But the woman section is full
@@danielegarotti7884 so was the men's section. She could have just asked a woman to get up and give her a seat for that matter.
@@ishrats I'm glad it's usually better there ☺️ this vid might have just been a "cautionary tale" to change the direction some people are going.
@Frithia5281 because that would have changed the whole point of the video. The whole point of the movie was that noone gave her the seat. I'm sure if she asked a woman or another man they might have given her a seat but then the whole message would be lost.
This should be turned into a feature length film. There's a lot that can be explored.
I used to be this woman. I kept getting the feeling my rage was misdirected. I'm glad I listened to it.
@@sonatestd2085on a moving bus where she almost fell just by standing in place? What kind of person wouldn't stand up to give their seat to a pregnant woman?

What are you talking about?? This is a pregnant woman, not an ordinary able -bodied person. I would give up my seat for her, the same way I would give up my seat for a limping man or elderly passenger. It's about being decent to those in need.
@@betternews3835 so what??? Pregnant means u should have the brain to know thet u arre not supposed to take a bus. Secondly why cant all those women in women section give seat???? Its pakistan and she cannot sit in men section if les say a man do this to a woman it will be taken differently. Furtherly she wanted accuse the man for harrassment .... just becaus eshe is a bloody women and pregnant that doesnt give any rights for her to abuse another person.
@@Berrygirl6784 exactly, men are not at fault for women getting pregnant from men without cars or bail on them in unwanted pregnancies. A man cpuld be equally tired after a day of hard work and isn't obligated to concede the seat
