Glad I checked out this video and found out the issue is covered by the extended warranty. The tech didn't think it was covered, but looked and there it was. Thank you!
Mine did that about 800 miles before waranty was up (before the extended). Savings of $3,500 bucks. even better, the dealer performed the TSB on the oil screen while it was apart!! I'm at 122k, stage 1 and turbo's are still kicking Mustang derrier. **IMPORTANT** Audi has extended the Turbo waranty to 125k miles. If you've replaced yours, contact them for reimbursment.
PCV failure and it is covered under an extended warranty up to 125k miles, just had mine done last month for no extra charge at my local Audi dealer, it is a very annoying noise.
@@savagepandaprojects Stage 2 C7.5 S6 here. Haven’t done the oil screens yet. I spoke to a shop that said don’t bother with a relocation kit and just remove the screens. Maybe I’m misunderstanding the difference though; sounds like your kit does abandon the factory oil screens, is that correct? Thanks for the content. This will be an amazing stage 3 build!

@@savagepandaprojects When B8-B8.5 are new they are the best daily driver in my opinion the torque literally throws one in his/her sit. It’s response is instant and insane.
OK... listening to this "oil screen" issue once more, I have to wonder. Has anyone been able to determine WHY Audi put a screen in this particular turbo motor and not in any other ones? I would rather have minute bits going through my turbos rather than risk clogging the screen and starving the turbos. This isn't the first of many turbo cars I've owned (VW, Volvo, Audi...), but it is the first turbo car that has a redundant screen in the turbo oil feed. Std economy (Fram) oil filter is 44 micron. Mann (OEM for most Audi platforms) states anywhere from 20 to 38 microns. The dedicated Turbosmart inline turbo oil filters are 40 micron, so what exactly are we trying to catch? I work in the engineering field and this strikes me as similar to things we have happen here. An out of touch engineers "good" idea meeting the real world. It sounds great, but in application it's a horrible idea because the savings (a few turbos not hurt) is far outweighed by the service nightmare created (every car is a probable failure). Is there a reason that this particular platform needed such a rare and dangerous add-on?? Yes... anything that can cause TOTAL turbo failure as low as 40k miles is dangerous! Are there other ways to combat it? You can remove it and let the main filter do it's job (what I'll do with regular high quality oil changes). You can add after-market filters and increase the failure points by a factor for a little security. Lastly, you can simply replace it with Audi's "improved" screen and pray it is good enough the second time! All except the first rely on you making additional checks every oil change or so and there's no guarantee it'll solve anything. I think back to my time in the medical field and learning that the stints (artery expanding mesh) put in to prevent heart attacks were developing clots and causing strokes. Which one was the lesser of the evils? There's no easy answer, but sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution!
Ok .. update!! I have since determined why the screen is there and why I'm putting it back!! Apparently on the 4.0t, after 4k RPM, bypasses the oil filter and pumps oil straight through the system to the turbos. It makes sense with turbos screaming at those rpm that they might need more oil, especially considering that they turn on the oil squirters about the same time!! So .. just removing the screen is an epic disaster waiting to happen for anyone that likes to drive spiritedly!! I've decided to replace the screen. I'll check it again at 30k (got the process down to about 6 hours) when I do the DSG service. If it's good... I'll leave it. If it's not too I'll add the JHM system or make my own (about $200 in parts). In closing.... Without the screen you have no filtered oil going to the turbos anywhere over 4k RPM!!! Tread carefully!!
It's a free replacement for 10 years 100000 miles, don't spend money on this if you don't have to. Also from personal experience, they will oy replace if they can duplicate that whine
I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues man, but i’m a firm believer in the saying “everything happens for a reason”. It’ll be nice to know everything under the hood is solid and good to go.
No just the PCV, the A6/A7s are supercharged V6s, oil screens are on the turbos, I just had to replace my PCV on my A6 3.0T but are pretty much reliable
For a video calling out a noise you literally spent nearly zero time discussing the noise itself. I suspect maybe I have this going on. Weird whistle sound when letting off the gas and the car is cruising down the street. It seems to go away when I apply gas. Kinda difficult to hear whistle sound.
Pcv failure has been extensively covered on this channel. Very common problem on the 4.0T easily noticeable as you'll hear that distinctive whistling noise. That sounds like the problem based on your description

Audi just released a recall for the turbo oil screen. Assuming cars stock...
Yup hope this saves people lots of money!

Yeah man it's no big deal, we'll get through it, I appreciate the support!
Should I get a catch can for my 2016 S3 stage 1+?
I personally don't think their needed
if i bought the car on stage 2, is not stock, i legally to recall? i have the same noise
Someone else commented on here recently with same situation I believe they still were able to get the PCV replaced under recall
Just had mine done for free Audi dealership 2015 a8l 4.0
Congratulations 🎊 👏
Audi have done a recall, is the oil seperator kit still needed?
If you already had your PCV/oil separator replaced under recall warranty then you should be good to go
Ahh that's sucks man.. to be expected though I guess.. get er done.
Yeah man it's a bummer but it's good to have peace of mind when it's finished!
Hi! Are the 3.0T TFSI A7 (not S/RS) of the same era, also affected by the same PCV/Oil screen issue?

Would strongly advise NOT driving the car with a bad PCV, will contribute to blown front/rear main seats etc. Get it done asap. Thx for watching
