- An adorable youngster died in a bouncy house accident. Declan Hicks was at a baseball field in Maryland with his family when the nightmare happened. Authorities say he and other children were playing in the bouncy house when a gust of wind blew it up to 20 feet in the air. The 5-year-old was airlifted to the hospital but doctors could not save him. Hicks' heartbroken aunt says he'll live in their hearts.
These things MUST BE TIED DOWN WITH STAKES!
I am so very sorry for this family's horrible loss. I will be praying for their peace and comfort.

Yeah show her just because ur mom doesn’t think so doesn’t mean she is right . Not everyone Is informed in everything there is so just make sure to check for winds also. If there is super low winds ,I’m sure there is no need to anchor down

You ever lost a dog or someone close to you? Prob not, well when you do you will see how the world doesn't stop and or change on bit. Life carry's on after death and it's heart breaking. When I lost my brother I didn't have a few days to get myself together, I had to continue work like if nothing ever happened. I have places where when I drive by my heart aches just thinking of him. So now back to it being one of my sons. I couldn't imagine carrying on with life. But I have more than one child so obviously killing myself is a cowards way out. Maybe if you want to state something next time do it on your own comment. Your just making me laugh at this point!

There had been numerous incidents about it for the past years after COVID. So many videos and news about it. And yet, still people don't know that these things should be pinned down and that they should tell children to leave once it's getting windy.

Never heard of something like this , even with the children inside.. glad I’m aware now .. I’ll be checking the bouncy house anchors myself now to make sure it’s done properly..
It doesn't happen often, but unfortunately, it does happen. Back in Dec 2021, 6 children lost their lives in a bouncy castle the same way.
This happened in Australia also at a school. A few kids died.

These things should never happen in the first place. These require anchors to properly secure the boucy houses. If you want a bouncy house, do your due diligence with the company renting it. This happens too much.

This is absolutely terrible! We too had a similar incident at our 4 year old's birthday party. We rented a bouncy house that resembled a caterpillar, and the idea was that the kids would enter the caterpillar's mouth and exit through the anus. There's lot's of space inside the caterpillar, and there was somewhat of an obstacle course inside as well. A couple of the children were just hanging out inside the tail end of the caterpillar and the wind just took them flying off into the air. The landing was pretty bad as some of the children inside has vomited on themselves, and each other. Thankfully the parents were understanding, but it was scary for everyone involved.

This reminds me of the time when I was a kid a bunch of us was playing in a bounce house and it started to lose air, we all got squished and were fighting to get out, keep kids away from these things

I would have never thought bouncy houses were so dangerous but this being the second story I’ve heard about a child death involving a bouncy house flying away. I will never allow my kids in one. Unless I AM Right there and there’s not ANY WIND
You should tell your child when it's small not to go too far to the back of it and stay somewhere near the middle or the exit in case it collapsed. My mom won't let me go too deep in as a child, because she knew a child suffocated when it collapsed and the parents were not watching him.
There have also been cases of invisible dust devils flinging bouncy castles and they ironically form in calm and sunny weather, unfortunately.

Because the people who own it and runs the business should anchor it properly and they definitely know to check the weather beforehand. Wind against these things is no joke. If it's too windy you don't set up. They're also required to carry insurance for their customer's possibly injury.

I hope the family can sue due to the negligence of whomever was responsible for setting up the bouncy house.
