I've done a lot of race cars and I've learned that poly primers are your friend for beat up composite parts. Slicksand, superbuild..there's a bunch to select from. But they are the best for this type of work imo..car is turning out awesome btw! Love the red!
"Extra clear on top for durability" Painter talk for I've got this mixed, in the gun, I'm not pouring it out and wasting what seems to be liquid gold! Haha I've done it... looks good👍
@@ThePaintPaperHustle the struggle is real. My Dad always said a run was a signature. Well I have wrote some paragraphs on a quarter panel or three in my day. Hahaha
I try as much as I can not to use primer as a filler for imperfections or even sand scratches. I’ve been at this since I was 18 now 46 and when you do this type of work your always in a hurry, prime one day block the next or even the same day if you can bake. But if your doing this as a home project and you have the time, let your bondo or primer cure for a week, or two or three before you finish block. Your car will look much better a year down the road. If you rush and use putty or primer to fill scratches and imperfections and block as soon as you can get on it, it’ll look great when it comes out of the paint booth and probably look great for a few weeks, but it never fails that filler, primer no matter what it is will shrink some more over the following weeks, months and you will see those sand scratches, DA marks, imperfections. I know as a body shop we don’t have that time to wait but if it’s a project your doing at home and have the time it pays off. That’s one reason I try to block each step as fine as I can and not use the next coat as a filler for scratches or imperfections and I know it’s not always feasible, especially for us shop guys but for a DIYer or home project it’s worth taking the time if it’s a show piece.
The youtube algorithm brought me to you. Loving Randy's fox body build. Watched all of this series so far. Watched most of the Comet content and some of your other body work on other cars. I watched Turbo John's video. Where can I find the turbo assembly video for Randy's car? Keep up the good work. I love the racecar stuff. Lol
Any motor stuff for randys car would be on turbo Johns channel. We haven’t done final assembly on randys car yet. Plan to paint doors and such this week and get them videos out. Thanks so much for the support and for watching hopefully I can help you and tech you something. Let me know if you ever have any questions and thanks again.
You're such a solid dude. Thanks for responding. Wish I lived closer help block sand. I once told a customer it took 18 hours to block his car out. The second coat of primer he couldn't believe how much sanding. It takes to square a car up. Mustang cobra 2 with 302 4spd. Love your car always wanted a grabber. Thank man.

Man thanks for that. Yea blocking is time consuming for sure.
Also if it's a carbon part once the sun hits it that weave is going to come and go none stop. It's so frustrating.
Interesting I did not know that
