Just got a launch edition for my Mum and will take delivery in a week or so.. We originally went looking for a Kamiq but they're sold out in Aus until 2022. Took the Scala for a test drive during hurricane conditions in Sydney the weekend before last and it handled brilliantly even through some low flooded roads near the dealership. I have no doubt it will be amazing in decent weather/conditions and for the money you get SO much more. It's no range rover, but for the money it's pretty damn plush.

In Europe, we also doesn’t have hybrid on this Scala. Some countries have a small diesel 116 ps, but it’s the only diesel engine. To be honest, 1.0 TSI 116 ps and 1.5 TSI 150 ps are the best sellers.
Regarding start & stop, you have a button to disable it (it’s really annoying with DSG). You should also disable lane assist every time you start your car.

USB C has been out for years, you made it sound like it's some obscure technology, it's faster than USB A and it's the small connection on the bottom of a smartphone.
Yes we would need a C to C cable

Great review - have just ordered the 1.0 liter 110 hp DSG 7-speed model (in Denmark) in the "life" trim - its a leasing model, so there are not that many options to the trim and specs, but it comes with everything that I like, exept maybe a sat nav system, but since it has Apple Car Play and I have a Tom Tom world wide app on my iPhone, its not a problem (and also a lot easier to keep the maps updated).
I tried both the four cylinder 1.5 l DSG version and the three cylinder 1.0 l 110 hp DSG version before I made my decision, and while the 1.5 as you mention has plenty of power (150 hp) the lesser option is no slouch at all - not a lot of difference in terms of fuel consumption though, but some difference in price (and in the tax ridden country like mine, where cars are taxed with a 150%, these things matters !!).
Btw to me the "hatch/wagon" looks remind me very much of the Audi A3 Sportback, which in my mind is a great plus !

I just dropped my 2002 Ford Laser Sedan off at car repairs then Last Thursday RACV offered me a rental car in 110 TSI auto SKODA SCALA for 2 whole weeks that I had never seen or heard of before. I think it's very comfortable and easy to drive. Would like to exchange a 110 TSI manual SKODA SCALA for a test drive this Thursday for another week.

It's not bad looking. But it reminds me of a 10-15 year old Audi, in terms of design.
The front quarter side panel looks really mismatched with the deep groove running past the doors... Where the bonnet lip extends there.
Looks also better where they don't use black glass on the rear tail under the rear window... makes the boot lip look larger...
