This! Mini twists and regular trims on stretched hair to keep knots and splits away ur hair will grow. Mine grew to just below bra strap with mini twists 4x per year and Trims 4x per year.
Mini twists is actually the style i do a month before my trim and silk press....
You should look into “loose twists” that gives a denser and fuller look.

I’m about to finish my hair today, I did mini braids at the root and then twist the rest of the way down. I’m doing this as my exclusive protective style. My hair is repairing after a really bad matting situation that took half my length.
That's how I do my mini twists too! But it's definitely a great low maintenance protective style to repair your hair. Between those and keeping my hair in plaits I don't do much else to my hair.
If you want more density then don't try your hair out and blow dry it first...and do smaller sections
