Omg i am so glad i found this video. I had inherited this machine from my Mom and this stitch i could never get it to work. Its working great now. My problem was i didnt give it the utmost respect 😂 this machine and I have not gotten along very well. Again thank you🥰
HUGE THANK YOU ! I have owned this Pfaff 4852 since April of 2004, and it has Frustrated me all this time. As a matter of fact, I bought a simple Brother overlock because I got too frustrated trying to thread the machine, which sat under its plastic hood for years. Watching you simplified the whole process, and has given me confidence to tackle the pile of knit fabrics I bought thinking how "easy" it would be to sew. Now I have the Coverlock machine I always wanted.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL! I purchased a Pfaff Cover Style off Craigslist but it never came with a manual. I almost gave up on trying to get it to work as I have never used one before and couldn't find any help online for the life of me. My machine is pretty much identical. This video solved all my problems! Thanks again :)
I have this lock machine I never used due i dont know how to thread it. I buy it such long time due i was busy working. I was there too sekinar how to thread used it but I already forget. Thank you for your clear explanation.. I can try to thread it..
Is there a video on treading for program 7? Or just 4 threads? I might have to make one myself when I ever figure it out? It sews one inch then the threads come out of the loopers🥴
My serger is a Pfaff 4862 and it is a four thread serger. I can see plainly that yours is also a 4862, and yet it is a five thread serger. How can this be?
Hers is a 4852, not 62, which was below the 4862. I also have the 4862, I believe the difference between the 4852 and the 4862/72 (other than mount of threads) is ours has auto tension and the 4852 does not, as you can see in this video.
Duncan Osgood thank you for your explanation. I would like to buy 4862 from a thrift shop and do you think that is good machine, durable and less headache, etc.
It's been long discontinued. The line this machine from was made during the late 1990s/early-mid 2000s. When it was new, it was probably about $1000-1200. This particular model is rare to find on eBay, but the higher-end (and better) versions with auto-tension (4862 & 4872) sell for about $200-300, depending on condition and accessories included.
This machine is DRIVING ME INSANE. I'm trying to use the first stitch and it simply is not connecting. Beyond frustrated. Also: is there really no program selecter on this machine? Is it all the same program but different outcomes just based on how you thread it?
@@ShareeseMGrace Yes, I've followed the manual religiously and watched this video copying the steps. I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything correctly and feel like I need to take it in to the repair place to get the guy to show me.
@@thornyback I just got this machine on Wednesday too. It’s my first attempt at this type of machine. I got program 2 to work by watching this video and then I got program 7 to work following the manual. But not before breaking a couple needles. Do you have the power plate covering the loopers?

Try googling for the manual. The Pfaff site has a section for manuals you can access for free :)
there is a free manual for the 4870 that I also bought used although they are a little different I'm sure its better than not having one at all.
