I should have done more research before I bought my first Toyota. My 2015 Ford Escape had an awesome GPS system and you could save your favorite destinations WITHOUT a subscription. I also liked the split screen much better in the Escape than this Toyota. It was easier to search and save Sirius stations that you liked as well. I'm not impressed with this at all and I just purchased a 2023 Rav4 Limited a few days ago.
Why does it require a subscription? Do you not see all the new car competition? I'm very happy to see Toyota finally upgrading their Infotainment system but let's get real, it's still FAR behind its competition. Making owners to PAY for these features is silly. Should've just eaten the cost and to play catch-up. Now you just wasted your R&D with no real revenue streams added. Some will subscribe until they learn how to use their mobile phones properly.
We are driving a 2022 Tacoma now and planned on buying a Tundra Platinum in January. Our Navi in the Taco is plagued with wrong routes, but the idea of spending a fair amount of money for the Tundra and having to pay a monthly fee for the Navi is ridiculous. We will now purchase a GMC Denali is spring, which we had previuosly and loved the Navi. Wanted the Tundra due to build quality but having their hands in my pocket every month, no thanks.
If I still need to connect to my phone in order for it to work, why don't I just use the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay?! Why should I pay a monthly fee to sue the redundant Toyota Cloud Navigation?
I believe one reason would be a navigation widget can be added to the multi-information (gauge cluster) display behind the steering wheel. This widget will display next turns from the Toyota Cloud Navigation only...not from CarPlay, I am afraid.
Hello Toyota USA, to pay more monthly for subscription to acquire navigation and remote start/stop is an unfair business. We pay a lot for a brand new car, you should give us for at least those two options free. Toyota, you broke my heart. I’m looking for grand Highlander, but now Toyota force me to shop other brand.
I have a Rav with Cloud Navigation. Why does it make me go to a dealer to update the map. When I select, it tells me to see the dealer. I shouldn't have to pay for a cloud update.

So we have to use usb for maps and gps which depends on cell towers. So make sure you only drive your nice new car in a are with good signal
Apple and Google maps is already available on every phone, I want my car to have satellite GPS for when I'm in rural areas or off-roading. What a deal-breaker this was for me. No way I would pay for that either after the 1st year trial period.
I disengaged my subscription costing $ 15.00 per month, and use Apple Car Play exclusively. If i had known that i'd have to pay for the cloud navigation WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THE CAR (not cheap, the XSE model), I might have kept my Kia Soul 2021 GT Turbo (top of the line) which had it included. After my 6-month free trial, the nav system stopped working, when i tried to enroll on the screen I was greeted by a blank screen. I could, however, enroll on my Toyota iPhone App. This is a real rip-off. While i love the car, there are missing illuminated lights on the lower left dash and door unlock buttons. You just cannot see the unlock doors button and the back hood release and gas cap release. I've had 3 Prius' and the same problem exists in those. Strangely enough, the gas mileage in the city is worse than EPA ratings, and the highway mileage is better than EPA ratings. Also, no heated steering wheel (WHY?!!).
I liked the one in my 2020 Highlander MUCH better. It had more options, larger print and icons, SPLIT SCREEN, etc. I hope Toyota will keep updating and adding new features to make it better. I can't even add a NAME to an address...no way to edit. Toyota, you can do better!
Requires paid subscription so this is a DOWNGRADE from previous system. We had a map available all the time in our Prius but now the system is beyond reach. Buggy Toyota app doesn't even list navigation of any kind in the list of "services" you are expected to pay for. Better to remove the screen in the car than provide a huge screen that presents nothing of interest UNLESS you buy a LOT of subscriptions. Never buying Toyota again. Will go with Kia. Thanks for garbage.
If Toyota top managers have any sense of decency and integrity, they will offer a way to convert way finding system they now gouge us for to a free one.
So... $180/year for the same functionality my phone provides for free? Toyota seems pretty greedy so far. I don't even seem to have the option for a trial nav service on my new 2024 Tacoma.
I have been driving Toyotas for almost 20 years and love them, but I m not happy I have to pay for this navigation. i will be cancelling the monthly fee to pay when I can use my phone for free. Such a bad move by Toyota. I didn't realize I had to pay for it until after I bought a new 2023. I used the navigatin a few ties and its just not good and the voice is terrible on it. That is just a waste of time calling in. I have the same problem, when I called the answer was that my 2023 Tacoma with a tag price of 45k simple does not have a standard gps or wt Toyota call is it a technology package. So we have to use usb for maps and gps which depends on cell towers.
So make sure you only drive your nice new car in a are with good signal
I don’t like to pay $ for navigation subscription. I didn’t know I have to pay for navigation before I buy the car. I wouldn’t recommend
Everybody will use Apple or Google maps
Apple and Google maps is already available on every phone, I want my car to have satellite GPS for when I'm in rural areas or off-roading. What a deal-breaker this was for me. No way I would pay for that either after the 1st year trial period.
not everyone has the latest Android or Apple phones costing over $ 1,000
So how’s this better than apple car play
I like Mazda navigation. Buy sim card and insert. Simple as that! WiFi is not reliable I ended up cancelling mine.
I agree, I’m looking for Traverse or other that no charge for navigation/ remote start
So... $180/year for the same functionality my phone provides for free? Toyota seems pretty greedy so far. I don't even seem to have the option for a trial nav service on my new 2024 Tacoma.
another customer ripoff, thanks Toyota
It uses AT&T, and it sucks. Not paying for something is not reliable . They need to follow Mazda and use a sim card for navigation
I use my phone instead. Thanks for the subscription scam
I'm just finding out about this after paying a lot of money for a highlander. This may be the last toyota I ever buy.
Junk system. Any basic navigator works better that this. Nothing works.
honestly dont bother just use carplay
I have been driving Toyotas for almost 20 years and love them, but I m not happy I have to pay for this navigation. i will be cancelling the monthly fee to pay when I can use my phone for free. Such a bad move by Toyota. I didn't realize I had to pay for it until after I bought a new 2023. I used the navigatin a few ties and its just not good and the voice is terrible on it. Can you at least change the Audio ???
Too bad u need to pay!
Corporate greed!
