    I don’t see the club sacrificing 100mil Caicedo or Enzo especially not with how Caicedo played during Copa. Maybe Maresca will go with starting Caicedo at right back who inverts into the midfield, Reece James at the right sided center back position, with the other two center back positions dependent on performance of players you mentioned capable of playing those positions.

    I don't think Gusto is a loser, the lad has a good ability of moving forward and adding to the attack, so expect 2-3-5 in some games. Most of the time Pep & Arteta dominate & suffocate opponents with more attacking players & it creates results for their team. All players are good & are different in there own way. I hope Cucurela starts & Chilwell is sold. Nice analysis and thank you for the video

      Sanchez was calm on the ball, but sometimes too calm, and checked out of games. He has a very good range of pass, but he tends to take too long and it gave teams the upper hand. Petro is the better shot-stopper, a little more shakey on the balls, but realistically i’ll take Petro over Sanchez

    Mono, two things: (1) Enzo x Moisés’ transfer fees will always demand they are amongst the first names on the teamsheet.
    Maresca, like any coach - not manager will be hired predicated on how often / effectively they deploy those two players.
    (2) Sanchez is average on the ball in terms of todays football; he does NOT instill confidence in his backline. He is the sort of player that needs reassurance from his defenders.
    Our shaky defending highlighted his lack of composure as the “last line of defence”, he’s certainly, a good keeper, but we need a great one to compete for EPL x UCL x FA.
    Great work 🍻

      I don't disagree - tactically he's a great match, I just fear that he won't be given the opportunity to cement himself into the first team with all the quality CM options we currently have that are ahead of him.
      We've already seen that he's training with the team today though so hopefully he can convince the coach enough to gain a first team place!

    Very good video. Kudos. I don't necessarily agree with everything, but please don't take that as criticism. There's no negativity in what I'm about to say, just perhaps a slightly different perspective. Having said that, I'm afraid another fairly long comment is coming. I do apologise. Just sharing my thoughts, is all.
    First thought, playing the Leicester system one to one with Chelsea-players feels like a missed opportunity. There's maybe one right back in the league that is as good at the attacking fullback role as Gusto and James, so not using that denies us a competitive advantage. Now, it is rare to have competitive advantages that are that pronounced. Even better, we have a Cole Palmer that is okay as a regular right winger but literally had better production than Eden Hazard's best (!!) when given support and license to attack on the inside. Not using that, not creating a situation where he gets to do basically "what he does" would really shock me.
    Looking at defense, I don't think Fofana will play that big a role this side of Christmas. He's barely kicked a ball in anger for three years. What condition will he be in? Even if he is fit, I struggle to imagine that his body can handle regular 90 minute action just yet. Hence I think Tosin is brought for that RCB role. I think the first choice pairing is Colwill-Tosin, with Badiashile backup left and Disasi backup right, and Fofana getting in on the action when he's ready.
    And I think Chalobah is, as much as I hate it, a dead man walking because six senior CB's for two spots is just too many, and Chalobah is the one player who is fairly easy to sell for money that would create a PSR profit. The only alternative would be Colwill, but he didn't have the spectacular season that enables a great transfer fee, and his contract isn't expiring either. Thus it will be Chalobah who gets sold now, and then probably Disasi and/or Badiashile in a year. Disasi is just too vulnerable, Bad is just too unreliable.
    Left back, Veiga and Cucu winners, Chilwell loser. Right back, if I'm guessing right, both James and Gusto winners. Effectively, I suspect they're getting the wide right slot and RCM is actually the right side 6, probably with an offset. That way the box is maintained, if a bit lopsided. A bit of a run for the right back but Maresca teams are not gung ho "sprint up and down the pitch and rush everywhere" kind of teams, so it shouldn't be impossible. This isn't Poch ball, after all.
    Midfield, I agree that Enzo will probably be the backwards playmaker DM. I'm not sure I agree that Lavia is the purest 6 in the team. That, IMO, is Uguchukwu. But Lavia did look like he'd have the hustle, the awareness, and the passing range for a deep role, and I agree that he's probably also a winner. Unlike Uguchukwu who's just too one-dimensional for what Maresca wants.
    Your RCM spot, I think you're getting that one a bit wrong. From what I can tell, it wasn't mostly taken up by Yunus Akgün (9 starts, 14 subs, ~1000 mins) but rather by Ndidi (26 starts, 6 subs, ~2200 mins). It's not a number 10 spot, it's an "attacking 8" spot that is somewhat more conservative than KDH's LCM that was effectively a number 10 in all but name, as I understand it. All due disclaimers, of course. I'm not a Leicester fan, I'm just reading stats and news and whatnot.
    Hence I don't think Palmer will play RCM and effectively be an inside 10 from that position, certainly not with Enzo as DM and KDH as LCM that effectively translates to inside left 10. That's just too light. Any "proper" midfield would run right over it in terms of physicality and there's a shortage of proper tacklers. Even City plays with Rodri in midfield, and often enough they'll have a Kovacic for support. What I think is that Palmer will nominally be RW but it will mostly be an inside right, as the right side fullback comes forward and holds the outside right position.
    Regarding KDH, I don't know that I believe he's all that strong defensively. That is part of my thinking, I suppose. I would probably go so far as to argue that he's defensively poor. He certainly did not have good defensive stats for Leicester last season. Check his fbref scouting report vs midfielders. I don't know that anything really indicates that that he could do a defensive job with the quality needed for the top of the Prem. The way I see it, we should think of him as a number 10 because that's really where his qualities are. Is he defensively pretty decent for a 10? I reckon so. Just don't try to use him as a regular 8.
    Gallagher, I don't think anyone other than Poch would think of him as a number 10. I don't see any direct competition between Gallagher and KDH. They just don't do the same thing on the pitch. Gallagher can do a 6 in principle and he can certainly do a workhorse Ndidi-like number 8. But it won't matter because we have too many midfielders and his contract is expiring. But to me, he's RCM material. Having said that, is he a good fit for Maresca-ball? No. Defintiely a loser if he were to stay, which I don't think he will.
    Santos and Casadei, both can play various midfield roles. Hard to say if one of them is a winner or a loser. If one is a loser, I actually expect it to be Casadei, as he strikes me as the more physical and less technical player, and I do think that takes you further with Maresca than a bit more physicality. Then there's Chukwuemeka. Technically he can play as a regular number 8 but I think we're all expecting him to be more of a number 10. I expect him to be the main alternative for that LCM slot that KDH is likely first choice for.
    Madueke, if you're right, will be a winner. if I'm right, the outside spot is taken by the fullbacks and the inside spot is mainly Palmer. I think he'll be the utility attacker who is stuck wherever we need an outside attacker, be it left or right. He won't really be a huge winner but also not a huge loser. He's very good 1v1, he's very good on the right, he's left-footed so no reason he couldn't also be good on the left, and I reckon he could also do a fair inside 10.
    Speaking of that left side, I don't see Sterling working out. He's a bit too casual, on and off the ball, and he's not really the 1v1 guy that he once was. Good technique but he feels like an overfed predator that can't really be bothered anymore. Mudryk can't really be sold, and there's a really good footballer in him, and you're very much right about his vision. But he's not really a 1v1 guy, and he very much is a pace freak in a team that isn't really going to be competing on raw pace and lightning fast transitions. I don't see him as an outright winner either.
    Who else on the left? KDH could technically be a funny option. Not a super string 1v1 dribbler but he does okay. Not the fastest but he sure is an incisive passer, and more importantly, he's so calm and smooth on the ball. But another option that I think is overlooked is Jackson. He's a striker-sized guy with great speed and even more determination. He's a great worker, he does all the interplay really well. If he was outside left and KDH was inside left then I think that just might be loads of fun for anyone in blue.
    Nkunku, left winger? That I don't see. As an inside left under Poch, sure. As an outside left, doing 1v1 and ensuring width? It just doesn't feel to me as if that's his core ability. What Nkunku could conceivably do is just about anything Vardy did for Leicester, so while I feel like he's not at his absolute best as a striker, I do think it's the best fit he's going to find for his abilities under Maresca.
    So to summarize this excessively long comment (and again, I do apologise), I reckon Sanchez and Petro for keeper, Cucu and Veiga for defensive left fullback, Colwill and Bad for LCB, Tosin and Disasi for RCB, James and Gusto for offensive RB that doubles as outside right, Enzo and Lavia for CDM, Caicedo and Santos for RCM, KDH and Chukwuemeka for LCM, Palmer and Madueke for right winger, Jackson and Mudryk for outside left, and Nkunku and Guiu for that center forward spot.

      this analysis is insanely accurate ( not to say mono was wrong in his analysis tho ) , the part regarding the box midfield was quite thorough and really summarized how we would work out in midfield , my only worries in this team just boil down to gusto he was such a good player last season and i just don't see where we could fit him in if we deploy maresca's leicester system as he is not technically sound enough to join midfield and he's just not a natural wide RCB , so where does he play ?? i don't know why people think palmer will just stop playing RW all of a sudden , i know he can be a very creative player and him playing at the 10 will do wonders for his assist number but RW is just his best position and i don't think noni is good enough to shift palmer from RW ( i do believe noni would absolutely kill in this maresca set up ) as for LW ... idk what happens there for me because raz is not good enough and misha isn't a "1v1" type of winger ( i do believe tho that this is his make or break season imo ) but otherwise excellent analysis on your part.

    • @monocfc
      @monocfc  20 дней назад +3

      To suggest I am "unaware" about Santos and how good he is is rather insulting, tbh. I said that I ONLY think he'll be a loser because he is further down the pecking order despite him being good enough to start.
      We've seen zero evidence to suggest that Santos is "highly valued at the club" - He played almost every game in pre-season then was immediately shipped out despite this and not given a chance, was given a horrific loan, and then when he finally came back they shipped him off AGAIN despite us having multiple injuries in midfield and needing reinforcements there.
      It's VERY hard to see Santos playing over James, Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, or Ugochukwu, and being 6th choice is something that would just harm his development.
      As for the Gusto comments, I LITERALLY said that Gusto can play inverted, but he's BETTER out wide, which is an undisputable fact.

    I think us signing Veiga kind of signifies that the LB is going to be the inverting position over the RB as both him and Cucurella are more suited to that role than anyone else in the team.
    Personally I actually want to see a box midfield made by the two DMs the CAM and RW. and instead of inverting the RB, instead have them push very high up to hold the width. in that way James and Gusto can both do what they are best at which is their work in the final third. Enzo can be the one to dictate play and Caicedo to mop up instead of a RB/LB in midfield, with your CAM KDH and RW Palmer in the attacking halfspaces.

    • @monocfc
      @monocfc  20 дней назад +3

      Personally I disagree tbh - not only is James a former defensive midfielder (by far the most suited to the inverted role imo) but the Veiga signing is 100% a replacement for us not getting Calafiori - a player that can play both at CB and LB. Veiga is perfect for the LB/LCB hybrid role when the RB inverts, and considering James will 100% be starting, Veiga/Cucu inverting would mean that James would move into RCB, which I believe is a waste of his creative talents.
      I suppose we'll have to wait and see but I'd be very shocked if James is deployed anywhere but in that role, especially considering Maresca's stubbornness to play his system.

    • @Leo-ll2fg
      @Leo-ll2fg 20 дней назад +1

      @@monocfc I get the whole James in midfield thing, but he last played there in 2019, Cucurella was doing the invert for us end of last season, Veiga was mostly deployed as a DM last season. Which gives us two options who were playing there end of last season. Gusto we don't know if he can invert, James last played there a very long time ago. (btw in the video, the RCM was Ndidi most times, so if he plays a 1 to 1 version of his Leicester formation Caicedo is the one who will likely play there.
      I hope Maresca is only hellbent on the box midfield thing but flexible enough to change how the box is made so we get the best of the players we have. I really believe our line up should be

    I would put the future of the Chelsea defense in the hands of Tosin and Badiashile. I love Fofana, but his injuries may have ended him. The former two, extremely tall and athletic. Last games Caicedo started to ball. I'd love to see Lavia in front of the defense. People like Jackson and Mudryk have big potential, they may blow up this season, but don't wanna write Sterling off, he is experienced and can be useful if he feels appreciated. As far as the RB, LB and the wings in general...things are up for grabs. I like NkuNku composure but to me Jackson is running maniac at the 9 that is irreplacable, he puts too much effort which helps defense and the whole team, he has amazing running condition. Running and athetisism is a winning strategy.

    I do like Chaloba. But TBH you overrate him by a mile. If he is that good. Availible at approx 25mil. Why no club coming for hiim? There is a reason outside of injuries. F.e. he is not good at aerial duels. With 6 CBs currently one has to go. We spend actualy money on Disasi. We bought Anselmino for the future. So bye bye Trev.

      Well it's more difficult to sell a player if A) he didn't play many games last year and B) he doesn't WANT to leave, he has a contract with no release clause so he holds the cards in regards to whether he moves or not.
      I do admit we'll have to sell a CB at some point but I wouldn't sell Trev before Gilchrist for example

      Chilwell is the vice so it most likely will be him - if he doesn't play then likely Colwill.

      Yes and if you'd actually listen to what I said then you'd understand that I agree with you.
      The only reason Gusto is a "loser" is because he is BETTER as a marauding RB that can get up the pitch - this system doesn't use one of those so his gametime (if James is fit) will be incredibly more limited than last season.

    Reece better as a rcb, with how much injury prone he is, you want to reduce the amount of running he has to do, he’s not capable of consistently doing what he has been doing in the past, we need to do what’s best for his career moving forward

      Putting one of our best creators at CB is genuinely insane. He's gotten the surgery now so I'd imagine his injury woes will improve, there's absolutely no way he should be sacrificed over a fear that he'd get injured again.

      It's a pretty simple thing to understand - a creative player (arguably our best other than Palmer) should not be playing in CB.
      Yes James is a good defender too of course, but we have other players that can play at CB and be good defenders, we don't need to sacrifice his creativity when we can easily play Fofana or Chalobah there (who are both much more experienced than James at playing as a CB).
