My college percussion professor had a saying: there are two paths to success in music, either play something simple and make it look difficult, or play something difficult and make it look easy. He was correct!
He really captured the nostalgia of the swing era!!…It is evident that he was inspired by the great swing drummer Sonny Payne!!! Showmanship & performance at its finest!!!
Yes. The net is full of dull drum solos (double bass and snare centrical ones). The essence - to me - is pulsing, playfulness, JOY. This man is PULSING. Rare joy for the audience. (The acrobatic stickparts are good too, but for me indifferent.) Greetings from a melodydrummer from Hungary.
@@Jerharris90 This video is great!! The drummer is excellent. However... if he chose to play matched grip with the same amount of skill and showmanship, would his grip make a difference?? I honestly don't think it would. While everything has its place, some things are subjective. It comes down to preference. What's more comfortable for the player.
I was very glad to discover Emmanuel never heard of him hes such a talented great drummer and then I saw him on clarinet like the great Benny Goodman boy can you play that clarinet great performance. I'll be looking for more videos thanks for posting
His style is so reminiscent of Gene Krupa (my personal idol) right down to the facial expressions. It looks like he's even using a vintage set of Slingerland Radio Kings.
Thank you for this. It made my day. What a player. This is real entertainment. The most fun thing I've ever seen from a drummer. All of it was just enthralling. Great cure for the sitting in a snow storm blues.
3:22 The way he starts swinging the syncopation with both hands on the snare & tom, nice and snappy with nailed time and feel thru the juggle is impressive. Looks great and sounds great simultaneously. Strongest Gene Krupa vibe in any modern drummer around. Some fun!
Strongest Gene Krupa vibe in any modern drummer around. Some fun! Agreed I felt the same. if this guy DIDN'T study Gene inside and out then NO ONE has.
I was just getting ready to comment about the same part! I want to sit down and try that WITHOUT doing the stick tricks... because I def could not do both at the same time.
I'm a drummer myself and I feel like I could practice the rest of my life and still not be that good. Of course my wife disagrees with me but still..... Awesome just Totally Awesome , All 3 of them !!!!! Anyone reading this I have to say....... If you don't know Jesus Christ please seek Him for He is the only way to Heaven !!!
Great drummer considering his instrument is really the clarinet. Great showman but of course he's Italian! How about his two brothers, bass and piano. Talented family. Watch more videos, brother on piano very much in the style of the great Teddy Wilson.
@@sotender48 That is so sad!!! Is was watching all the drumming tricks (and I am a drummer), I couldn't help but have my attention constantly shifted to the pianist. As you say, very similar to Teddy Wilson'ss style, and beautifully played.
I’ve been drumming for almost 50 years and never learned to play Jazz. It is my biggest regret. So much respect for these jazz drummer’s. They are simply awesome!
This guy couldn't be anymore entertaining.
My college percussion professor had a saying: there are two paths to success in music, either play something simple and make it look difficult, or play something difficult and make it look easy.
He was correct!
Just don't look bored either way!
this guy does it both ways

@fartpooboxohyeah8611 sit down
this guy does both
This guy is incredible. Not only did he lay down a solid big band swing but is a showman as well The guy is the whole package. Bravo
This is crazy. Showmanship at its finest.
As a mediocre drummer I am amazed at this man. Damn good and having a blast. Also as a drummer, you got to give it to the bass player, MAN!!!

Hell yeah
He really captured the nostalgia of the swing era!!…It is evident that he was inspired by the great swing drummer
Sonny Payne!!! Showmanship & performance at its finest!!!
He is apeing Gene Krupa right down to the facial expressions.
That's correct.
I think and wrote the same👌
I'm a drummer and I think it's rare to see a drum solo that's actually entertaining as well as technically excellent.
I agree with you.
And I always admire just how many hours of time-consuming effort went into pulling a solo like that off!
If you don’t use a traditional grip, you’re just banging sticks on pans.. play the instrument correctly, and you could be a god..

The showmanship is so wonderfully exhibited here and he’s so musical on top of it all!
A drummer in the old tradition..
Beautiful to hear and see ..

Friggin' Awesome!!!! Just watcthing the drummer's facial expressions would be worth the price of admission!!!!!!! A whole movie going on there!!!
This is a first for me, I really enjoy watching and listening to him.

Just awsome.
Fantastic! Marvelous old school entertainer and wonderfully musical drummer. The whole band is amazing.
Fantastic!

Eu nunca vi um baterista desse nível. Esse baterista é de outro planeta

And what great tragedy, the pianist Adriano died with an heart attack few months ago,a great, great, tragedy.
I’m sure he’s a very good Clarinetist, but I think he’s a much better drummer

Such style! Brings back the personality and vitality of the swing era. Sorry to read of his passing.
@@robkunkel8833 omg! He died?! Such a great musician!
Emanuele Urso is a true genius on drums!
I so enjoyed Emanuele. Swing needs a big bass/kick drum too. My eldest son can juggle drum sticks. Love,
Oh My! Aliens! 😳👍
wow, this guy is great.
Sweet !
Very clever stick work.😊👍🏿
How I have not seen this drummer before. Off the scale virtuoso.
La musica,la poesia,la pittura,è tutto quello che è arte fa parte da generazioni nella stirpe del cognome URSO ❤
