Really like the simplicity of this design, and the way you got round the wiper motor centre drive. Methinks I’ll have a go at this one, but with the addition of some wet mix, thanks for sharing 😃👍
Nice I’m just gonna use my drill have it drive the bucket with friction with a cpu fan right next to it to cool it down I already have a cpu fan but I don’t know what I’m gonna scrap for the wheel maybe just go to the scrap yard, I also might add wheels on the top and the bottom and keep the whole rig tiles like yours. Thanks for the idea :)
Yeah, it's a strong little gear motor. The one that I used might be a little underpowered though for this application. A window regulator motor might be a more appropriate option. Thanks for watching!
I would attach a thermal cut off so it will turn off automatically when it gets too hot and back on when it has cooled off? They're very cheap. One that is NC (normally closed) 104F degrees (40C) cost about $1. Problem solved. BTW: Don't salvage one from of an old coffee maker since those are NC 145C degrees (293F) which is almost 3 times as hot as the motor should ever get.
That would have been an easy fix to get around the symptom, but I felt like a better solution would be to find a more suitable motor than the 53 year old windshield wiper motor I had been using. I ended up fitting a different gear motor with much more torque, slower output rpm, and it doesn't get nearly as warm which allows me to run it continously for hours.

Thanks. Will make an excellent ball mill for cleaning native plant seed.
Awesome idea.

Correct use an old wired drill
Never would've though that a wiper motor would be strong enough for, well, ANYTHING besides pushing rain drops. TIL.

THIS IS THE BEST !! THANKS MAN, JUST WHAT I NEED FOR CLEANING OPAL ROUGH.
Looks great! I’m going to try an build one for sanding wood parts. How did the threads on the bolt turn out? Were they worn down?
great video, had you ever used smaller media
Thanks, no I haven't tried smaller media. The resin pyramids were all I've ever used with this tumbler.
👍👍💪💪
swivel casters would have worked if they were both facing the way of rotation.

@@NickMakesBreaksStuff I like your solution. I find that quick fixes often become permanent. Hehe :)
I’ve been trying to do this But my wiper motor overheats
I have since upgraded to a 120v ac gear motor that drives a belt around the bucket. I'll make a new video about it soon.
What power source did you use
I used a bench top DC power supply to power the wiper motor
