- Here is your weekly Fish Vlog UPDATE! I bought two new female baby crowntail bettas for the betta community tank sorority group. One is a marble with some blue patterns and the other is all black with silver speckles. I also moved Demon Betta and the Mustard Gas Delta (named Ultra Ball) to their own personal tanks. They are less then 3 gal each but great temporary homes for them :D
I am making plans to try and breed my Koi betta pair. It would be interesting to see what they produce.

how much water do the critter keeper tanks hold, like are they 2.5 im looking for a tank for my betta but im on a budget
i'm just looking to make my little guy happier, and most people recommend a 2.5 or larger

There was a time in my life when I had over 30 Betta fish in my room! And crazy thing is I do water change for them every day! Each one had their own 5 gallon tank. When I think about it now, it's just like, '' Damn, how did I even do it, LOL!''.

Kasia, I took all my Pothos out of my filters. They were causing too many problems with my on the back filters. I took three sections, used a bread twistee and a paper clip, I made into a sort of hook. And attached the Pothos in the corners of my aquariums and my tubs. Looks good and I am pleased. Yeah, the roots were ruining my filters.
Your fish room could be "betta" I'm JK you're awesome.

What size tank do you use for your female betta's? Also how many females are in that tank? I'm plaining on making a tank just for female bettas in the near future
Your female Betta are really nice looking. I need to find some for my crown tail male. Lots of water changes will help your male with the bad tail fin.
I would love if you made a video on trimming a betta's fins. I've watched the king of DIY's video and it's a good general idea, but something specifically on a betta would be nice. I have a rose tail whose tail has grown to two different lengths and half of the ends are curled and half are not. I have tons of places for him to rest on different levels of the tank, but he still struggles swimming around. It's nothing but torches and pitchforks on the internet if you even think about touching their fins to improve their life. I'd love to hear your opinion.
+Tha'nera Telesia Im afraid of those torches and pitchforks hence I was reluctant. There is a good video out there of it being done on a betta fish.
The reason people get upset is sometimes before fish shows people will trim the fins so they look perfect for competition and some think its cheating.
The other argument is we dont know if its painful to the fish..there are theories but we dont know 100%. Is it like a haircut or like cutting off a finger. I look at it this way..lots of bettas nip and rip their own fins..if it hurt..why would they do it to themselves?
+Creative Pet Keeping my guess is that it does hurt because when people self harm it hurts and I feel like it's the same thing when a betta bites it's fins

well your new black crown tail female she is actually called a black orchid they usually are all black with the silver metallic streaks in there fins and little on scales

Creative Pet Keeping yup no problem I had a black orchid male crown tail lasted me about 2 years and he was definitely trying to be a ladies man with my female half-moon bettas

Creative Pet Keeping, a person who has several fish tanks like you do has MTS, which stands for Multiple Tank Syndrome. Not a bad thing, it's a great thing. Just means you love keeping fish. Loving the tanks and your dog and cat. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

The female betta fish need a bit of space from each other. Around 10 gallons per fish works really well in a community Jeremy tank. Males should only be brought together with a single female to breed. And then not longer than it takes for them to finish breeding. The males have to be kept by themselves otherwise because they are aggressive with other males and sometimes even females. They will even attack other small fish that have long fins and bright colors like male guppies. But sometimes male guppies can be kept with small peaceful fish with short fins like neon tetras. And single betta fish can also be kept with African dwarf frogs, provided you have enough room in your aquarium for them both. The African dwarf frogs get a little bit pushy At feeding time. But they are harmless to the betta fish otherwise. They may annoy the betta fish a bit though. But they ceartainly will not harm the betta fish.
I'm sure you found out but the red streaks come from high ammonia I believe there can be a few other causes but am not sure

I recommend you get a Amano shrimp/algea eating shrimp get at least 5 or 6 they will eat your algae but they don't like copper in there water
Have you checked the one with the "huge belly" for swim bladder??
Why not add mystery snails, cory or other algae eaters that go along well with betta?

i got a yellow female i named for Freyja or Frey Frey for short after Freyja Wion from Macross Delta. she has blue in her fins so im very happy with that since my ship won in the anime

I have a pearly blue male shortfin better, I can't quite identify. His belly is quite fat and I'm worried, also ever since I move my neon tetras out for quarantine he has been less active, and sitting around a lot. Before I removed the neons he was not very active and I was getting worried, and I'm even more concerned now that he just sits without moving. He is in a 10 gallon tank with a bristlenose catfish and usually with about 7 neons. I started with 11 neons and I have only lost 4 in about 6 months.

Liam Sack you need a really big tank. about probably a 5-10+ gallon. you need more than two females. keeping it an odd number of females helps. not all females will work out. some are just as aggressive as males so watch out. make sure you have all the required things for a betta.
i would say a tank of a minimum of 20 gallons, which isnt that big and a minimum of 6 betta fish and heavily planted
it's nice and easy to start off with a 20 long well planted and starting off with about 5-9 females.
I just got a baby betta. I got her because she was tiny and seems to have swim bladder problems. Right now I'm fasting her and I'll give her a pea soon. I hope that will work because I don't know what I'll do if her swim bladder problems are permanent.
Hyenafan I wouldn't recommend feeding a pea, but feeding daphnia as a de-congestion food for the tummy as peas can also be harmful. Frozen thawed daphnia/live daphnia would work. Some swim bladder problems come from injury or bad genetics. Keep her water level to about four inches so she can reach the top for air easier and give her lots of plants to rest on. Some swim bladder issues never resolve. I wish you luck!
I only have peas right now, but if I go by the fish store today I'll get daphnia.
She doesn't have plants, but she has a decoration that has a bunch of different levels on it. The water's about 7.5 inches high right now, but I'll change it after I do a water change today.
I don't know what I'll do if it's permanent, but for now I'm just going to assume it's from constipation or some infection or parasite.
Would freeze-dried daphnia work?
