    We lore masters of Kenshi have long since pondered about the lost and forgotten history this tidal locked moon. Piecing together the dark and gruesome origins of its denizens through contextual clues left in the wake of repeated cataclysms. But of all the hidden stories buried beneath the dunes, none has amassed more curiosity in me than the nature of Kenshi's 1st empire..

    Since the original name of Kenshi was "Forgotten," I wonder if the moon is just a clerical error. The civilization on the planet just forgot about the people there and was declared uninhabitable even though people continued to live and it was Forgotten.

    Some theories I like about why they never came back:
    - they are such a vast intergalactic empire, that they don´t bother dealing with a backwater ruined mining colony on a tiny, tidally locked moon
    - they are such a vast interglactic empire, that due to some random administrative error they simply forgot that the moon of Kenshi even exists
    - they were indeed the remnants of a larger, fallen empire, and Kenshi was their last remaining colony
    - they did call for help to their other colonies, but signals need tens of thousands of years to arrive, the arrival actual help taking even longer, so they are on their way, just not quite there yet
    - they were an intergalactic empire, but the Skeleton rebellion took part on their other colonies too, whiping them out

  • @SamP-by7iv
    @SamP-by7iv Год назад +30

    My headcannon is that the first empire (or in this case just The Empire) probably still exists and when the skeleton uprising happened on Kenshi they wrote the whole place off. Chances are the moon was a colony for mining and manufacturing, judging from how the ancient structures look. I think that after the devestation of the first extinction The Empire just decided to gtfo and cut their losses.

      The moon was for mining absolutely. However I don’t think the first empire remains either, because if the skeletons rebelled on Kenshi, and won, then who’s to say that skeletons throughout the first empire didn’t also rebel. That would explain why they never returned, because there were so many uprisings in so many places they simply couldn’t.

      Actually, something like Kenshi can canonical happen in the modern day Imperium. Entires worlds are forgotten about, left for a hundred to a thousand years, and now everyone lost all advanced technology (for the Imperium), gone into a medieval style or even tribal societies, started new religions, and even commit tech heresy and other heresies like making AI or abhumans (sheks and maybe Hivers).

    Kenshi 2 is one of the few games i got hyped to hear that it was going to be a prequel. Realistically after where we are now in kenshi... it's going to go to dust. As all that's left is xenophobia and depression. But now we get answers to a lot of the questions, while hopefully some are still left for mysteries sake. I'm really hoping we get more on Strobe and how the skeletons reacted and/or helped him. And whether or not he actually helped with the rebellion. That and seeing pre - comlete insanity Cat-Lon.

      It's like X-Files, once you know the main plot the show is meh, it's the mystery that makes it so enthralling. Another analogy is Warhammer, you know everything about the past, present and future. Chaos wins and Sigmar creates new dimensions destroying everything in the old world, fiction it's not interesting when you know everything. Take Half Life universe, one reason it's so beloved is because you are never given any lore exposition dumps, like Kenshi you have to piece it together yourself.

    Two things, first the laser satellites probably were to redirect sunlight to the dark side of kenshi, which is tidally locked. Also, given that kenshi's setting is considering things like tidally locked moons, its likely "hard" sci fi which doesnt have FTL technology, so the first empire not being able to get help from other advanced humanity could be as simple as the tens of thousands of years it would take for a signal to get to anyone else. In fact, a first empire ship turning up may well figure in the future games, as it has been about the amount of time for signals from the first empire to get to wherever they came from and for a ship to travel to kenshi.

So I'm confused what you mean, why would there be a need for solar mirrors to alleviate a lack of light when the planet appears to be experiencing normal days and nights?

    Personally, I like to believe that the original settlers of Kenshi weren't the best and brightest, but rather the richest and most selfish that left their original world of their own accord rather than try to fix the issues there. That they didn't innovate a solution to their Kaiju problem and instead just upscaled the skeleton frame to massive size, and the fact that they mistreated their "slave" skeletons until there was a revolt indicates a level of unimaginative, short-sighted callusness that to me doesn't fit the best and brightest.
    I like to believe that once humanity finally managed to fix the problems of their homeworld and sent a scouting mission to kenshi to see if it was worth it to hold their elites accountable, only to find the world in a state of absolute chaos, they decided "you know what, we'll just call that karma for abandoning us. Let them fix their own problem for once." and wrote it off as a lost cause.

    Given how all ruins seem industrial with _maybe_ the Ashland ruins being the exception it seems Kenshi might have just been little more than an off world mining operation. A couple hundred human administrators and scientists overseeing an artificial work force, funneling the resources through the space elevator back to the planet. The Behemots could have been used to combat local wild life, especially how it seems to be an almost humane "less lethal" way for a civilisation that owns space lasers. Maybe humanity simply moved past the need for Kenshi's resources and abandoned the project over the millenia, maybe something went wrong with the space elevator and nobody bothered to repair it. But whoever was left when humanity ghosted the moon essentially went feral to various degrees. Sure some tried to hold it together using the robots to police and protect what little civilisation they could keep afloat while others embraced the madness and became cannibals and bandits, the unity fractured, factions sprang up, using their behemoths as weapons fighting over territory and resources until some kind of peace was reached under the condition that all behemots shall be destroyed. This pushed the robots over the edge and they tried to nuke the fleshies only for Stobe to step in and catch the nuke himself. Shamed by this sacrifice the skeletons tried to gather up what was left of the humans and rebuild, but they may have long memories but little knowledge of anything unrelated to their original task which is why we see next to no advanced tech apart from anything related to industrial production.

    I've noticed there are some lore stuffs that are failed to be mentioned.
    And i happened to have found a note in Kenshi, not too sure where it was found but.
    Its a corporation note to the higher ups, or some diary.
    It speaks about a corporate employee showing concerns about the now known as 'skeleton' race. How they are planning on a revolt. Silent gatherings as if processing data between one another.
    Talking about how the higher ups in corporate don't seem to understand what is going on. So clearly the skeletons were planning on turning against their masters with, or without the events from 'obedience.' So a typical 'exterminate human leaders' rebellion to knock down the first empire.
    I am assuming the humans had catched up onto it eventually, as we see with the valley of obedience. But it was clearly too late, and the skeletons had started their revolt. One thing i know for certain is that the planet of kenshi was a labour planet. Judging from the labs, work sites. Etc.

  • @alicebrown6215

    I remember reading a headcannon about the 1st Empire being a space corporation.
    Their opponents were another space corporation, with the behemoths being a rushed war winning weapon, not because they were indestructible, but rather because to destroy them would also destroy the infrastructure on the mining colony, making the hostile takeover not worth it.
    Once their opponents backed down, the behemoths were disposed of in a rushed, inefficient manner to appease quarterly profits.
    After the Skeletons rebelled, the owning corporation wrote off the colony as a loss, buried in an intergalactic empire's endless paperwork that won't be questioned for thousands of years.

  • @kurankeikun
    @kurankeikun Месяц назад

    The intergalactic empire probably had a hard time facing the Unbidden, Aberrant, and Vehement. Then after some time the Prethoryn Scourge appeared, probably leading to some gargantuan Feral Prethoryn getting stuck at the moon when the Scourge Queens died and their Feral Fleet and Starbase were destroyed. The First Empire, more than likely weakened due to two powerful crises, looked to colonize the moon and built "The Eyes" to help terraform the moon to their preference. During the process of colonization, they found that the moon had large Feral Prethoryn and built the behemoths to help combat and kill all the large beasts. Then, a Ghost Signal is heard around the galaxy and slowly starts to affect the empires' robotic population. Receiving communications from the homeworld, and remaining galactic community, that robotic pops were slowly acting weirdly, the leaders on the moon sent the behemoths to Obedience. Then, massive rebellions of corrupted robotic pops everywhere in the galaxy poppep up, and the robotic pops on the moon were included in this contingency. However, through sheer determination and galactic comradery, the Nexus Zero-One is destroyed and the Contingency is defeated. Contingency fleets self-destruct and corrupted robots shut down permanently, however, maybe due to cosmic storms interfering with signals, the robotic pops on the Kenshi moon did not shut down but regained their consciousness. The robots filled with grief over what they had done towards their humanoid population, decided to safeguard them instead, becoming the Second Empire. The First Empire is probably trying to focus all of their scattered resources into rebuilding the home systems and increasing their defenses for future conflicts. Or, the First Empire could be one of the victims of any of the galactic crises and no update has ever reached the moon due to lack of communication channels or limited communication from surrounding systems. The moon has more than likely become an insignificant colony in the outer reaches of the empire's decreased borders, or thought of as a lost colony already, succumbing to the galactic crises or other events. Whatever the case, the various populations on the moon would probably be seen as a Pre-FTL civilization among more advanced galactic powers. Who knows, maybe there is already an observation post somewhere in the system observing the moon in Kenshi.

    I really think that with the remnants of actual human culture like baseball caps and samurai armor, we're to take it that Kenshi is the last remnant of Earth's civilization far in the future.
    Something happened on Earth and they sent out frozen pods or something and one happened to land on Kenshi. Maybe they made it there on purpose, but however they arrived, now humanity will never know they came from a planet called Earth, or the actual origin of their baseball caps and samurai armor.
