Trail Lady MTB hey how do you like the 2020 Capra? Came across a video of yours a day or two ago. Do you find the yari to handle everything you throw at it?
@@obomasinladen I really like the Capra. The Jeffsey is great as well. Good deals for sure. The Capra is stable, fast, cushy. Active susp. No problems for me with climbing or with pedal bob. Yari has been great handling everything. it is almost same as the Lyric with a different damper. Worldwide Cyclery has a good video on comparing the Pike, Lyrik and Yari.
Back in the 70’s when I was young, my dad bought a “Ski Bob” or ski bike. It was soooo fun! Especially watching people trying to stop. Thanks for sharing, dodge the trees!
That thing looks like a blast! I say take it to the hill with confidence and see if anyone stops you. Maybe bring some legit gear along so the day isn’t a total waste. Week day on a smaller hill and they probably/hopefully wouldn’t say no.
You gotta get it to a ski slope and try it out, I think this would be so much fun! Also business idea: make just the skis such that they’re interchangeable bike parts and sell em to people. Would love to see some canadians put skis on a real DH bike and ride some serious slopes!
Love it! I just ordered some kids skis on eBay and am about to do this to my team RTS I’ve had sitting in my basement forever!! Your video totally validates my design ideas!! Your welding looks fine too!
This is a step up from what my father made for us when we were kids. He took second hand skis, mounted a post and a seat on each one and we went to the local hill. You steered by leaning in the direction you wanted to travel. You stopped by putting your feet down. I don't weld, but I'd like to build something like this. Thanks for the video.
When you turned it appears the foot pegs are close to the ground. Maybe raise them some for more clearance when making sharp turns or if there is a branch or other low lying object that it can catch on. But that's fantastic! You built it with a frame laying around . Also, you'll probably need a way to bring the skis back to neutral when airborne so they don't tilt too far out of horizontal when in flight!!! I know you will make it fly soon enough!
I'd put some pedals on there. If you can't fit them over the pipe you have there make some wood blocks and put another smaller pipe or threaded piece all the way through then put a washers and bolts on the ends to keep the wood pedals on. I'd do this so you have a better standing platform but more so for when you wreck you aren't impaled by your current setup.
Yeah being impaled by this setup is a huge concern, there are quite a few things I want to address in ski bike 2.0 this winter, to where it'll be nice enough to take to a mountain!
Always wanted to try out one of these. I have an old bike I could use and even some old straight skis similar to the ones you used just hanging in the attic.
I'm interested in the hardware used to make the foot pegs, especially the thread inserts. Also could you use 7/8 in bar? That way you could put some rubber handlebar grips on it. I'm making mine soon, I got the same bike but in aluminum!!!!!. Thanks.
DUUUUUUDE...I built one of these back in 2006ish. Before the ski bikes started getting popular. Funny thing is I did it almost identical to what you did. Only thing i did different was the tether for the ski.I used a bungie cord so the ski doesnt fold over and you end up doing a full scorpion. I need to do a video on it next year i think! Thanks for the vid.
I definitely want to figure out a better design for next winter. Thinking about picking up a set of used kids skis so I dont need to chop some old straight ones, make it look legit enough to bring to a ski hill lol
As a former welding inspector at Caterpillar, not bad buddy. GREAT snow bike. I like your style. I'd like some video of you on a slope. JUST DO IT! Former Snoqualmie Pass Skier, Mike
yes sir, good job man, that's sick. i love the loud flashy colors, it's welcome in some sports like motocross for example and i think it fits this sport as well. great that you were able to just whip that up, for foot pegs i would cut a rectangular notch in the pipe and weld in some dirt bike pegs. cut it in such a way that they kinda sit in flat.
Hmm... I might trying to set my 951 up for that in the winter. Minus the cutting bits off obviously. I’ll probably just unbolt brakes and shifting Mech and leave the bb/crankset in.
If you put a small wheel behind the back wheel, cut a big tire and put it around the two back wheels, you can make a tread tha will allow you to peddle and break in the snow.
That thing looks sick, but snowboarding is so much better. People don’t talk about how the line choice skills of snowboarding directly translate to the bike
Yes it was , also a Martini and Rossi commercial a group of people are using these and are having a blast , just before the finish and have a party drinking Martini and Rossi .
If you really want to try it on a real hill this season, Mt. Spokane is a state park, so they can't stop you from hiking up. I don't know about lift access tho
Try putting some large nuts on the threaded bar and getting some motorcycle foot peg grips and screwing them onto the top or get a track system for the rear and use it like that
I shit you not, my sketchy-ass snow bike looked exactly the same. The triangles, measurements, exactly. Only difference is I stood on the chain stays instead of pegs.
I would find a way to thread some actual pedals on it. Last thing you want is to fall and somehow get one of those hollow pipes working as a human core sampler
Get some grips on those foot pegs and you're gtg. It'd suck to land on them in any way too, probably want to get something on there that won't impale you.
Always try out maximum sketch under dog supervision.
He always has my back 🐶
give the foot pegs some skateboard griptape
Good idea dude! Three hobbies, mountain biking, skateboarding, and skiing, in one bike!
Ski bindings. Clip into that shit.
I would put some chunk rubber handle bar grips on then
or drill and tap holes into those tubes. After that you can install same kind of set screws what are used in flat pedals
Shakur Yotiiv it should get moto footpegs
Well, I know what my next project is.
Me too
Ari Tapper lel
Yea I want to but I don't have the parts do somebody know we're I can find the parts

Oooooo buddy. It’s time to shred.
If the 10 day forecast holds up, I might be busting this thing back out sooner than later!
Loved the video! What a fun project!
Totally dug this video! How fun! For the foot pegs...grab some old grips and stick em' on the footpegs.😊

Ok this is sick, silver’s probably your best bet to get this thing on the slopes. Mt. Spokane might... but I doubt it
I have a legit one of these. They’ll let you take it on the slopes for sure.
That thing looks sketchy as hell... and thats a good thing.
i converted my full suspension to something like this and took it to my local ski resort and i was awesome

You're probably right. You guys are making me think I should try it out!
Ski bike - cool. Learning to snowboard - legendary
Taking a break from constantly snowboarding to build a ski bike - fun enough

That will definitely be allowed at ski mountains seriously
@Ohana Ross-Roberts not true, got to ski a skibike last season
@Ohana Ross-Roberts Copper Mountain here in Colorado allows ski bikes and I've rode in a lift with a guy using a home made one.
Oh man, I would totally rock that sucker! Very cool!!!
Totally just happened across your channel. I have no idea why you only have 10k subs. I could (and will due to quarantine) all night!
Looks good. Time to head for the slopes

Brilliant....just built 2 skibikes ....just waiting for the snow here in the uk
Skibikes are Snow much fun! Started by doing the same build, 10 years ago. We haven't missed a winter since.
i just ordered a 2021 yt capra al pro and I'm so hyped your videos inspired me to buy one thank you so much bro stay stoked!!!!
Mate your a legend!
Love it! I just ordered some kids skis on eBay and am about to do this to my team RTS I’ve had sitting in my basement forever!! Your video totally validates my design ideas!! Your welding looks fine too!
Nice, Building one of my own, just figuring out the best way to mount some pedals instead of just a bar.
I'll be trying to mount pedals too the next ski bike I try to make, the bar was quick and easy at least.
Love your puppy dog!🥰🥰🥰
You can also thread the inside of the pegs with the same thread size as there is on pedals en throw some highly spiked flat paddles on them

BTW, we called them ski-jacks, based upon an old New England design called jump-jacks, where the skis were staves from barrels.

Do it! It's a pretty easy project, you could even use wood for mounts if you lack a welder.
Awesome ! I made one in high school and had a blast on it! I wonder if a mountain like lookout would let you run it on their slopes
I feel like lookout would definitely be the best chance...maybe mt spokane?...maybe I should reach out to someone 🤔
@@TheShredist thatd make for a good video.. especially if you got it into the terrain parks!🤘
Sick diy, take it to the hills and test it.
looks awesome
Cool project. I’d put some aggressive knurling on the foot pegs.
I would totally assured that bike on the ski hill!
Would definitely ride that. It has so much soul xD
Great idea and even better execution!
Take it to the bunny hill, go for it!

I made one of these this winter, its super fun!
next time you should use an old pair of dirt bike foot pegs
This was fun to watch, nice work!
Should have mounted mini-snowboards.
wouldn't turn as well

Definitely the best suggestion on the footpegs to date!
love to see the channel growing man keep it up
You could try to make a brake for this with a plate that deploys under the bike which drags through the snow slowing you down
Hmm... I might trying to set my 951 up for that in the winter. Minus the cutting bits off obviously. I’ll probably just unbolt brakes and shifting Mech and leave the bb/crankset in.

Oh for sure, been snowboarding for years myself, this was just a fun project 🤘
That’s so good! Well done mate 👍
I would definitely ski on this thing
Sweet, nice work! 👍🏼
I would definitely try it
Im gonna do this to my bmx this winter 😂
awesome build
Looks super fun. For maximum fastness I recommend to wax the skis.
They got a fresh wax off camera!
This reminds me of an old movie starring the Beatles.
I think it was "Help!".

I'm down to try it! Makes me want to build one!
Looks good
Cool project. I would like to make one but I'll stick to snowboarding untill I feel more confident in my abilities.
Love it!
What if you made retractable spike fro brakes? That might work maybe
Yes
I got those grips too how are they?
They're good quality, but too small for me. I like the lizard skin northshore since they're a larger diameter.
"Wheres my TWo DolLARs!! " This bike reminds me of the movie better off dead.
so sick
go for it
Do you live in kolowna? In British Colombia? That looks a lot like it especially the ski runs and the lake
I wanna try this out but we don't have snow in phillipines
Are the bearings the the "hubs" or do the mounts just slide directly over the axels?
This is extremely sick but where I live there is a 2% chance of snow so...
Trying to copy this but I can't seem to find the right iron bars for this project. Could you post a link to the ones you used? Much appreciated!
So gonna make one
first and i want to do that
Dead ass send that my way in the winter (i live in canada lol) and ill take it down some hills
id try it out but thats probubly just because i like biking and i live snowboarding
I’ve seen a few guys at silver mtn with those
But did they look as "good" as this one? haha. Good to know they allow ski bikes though!
You should wrap it and make it actually look professionally made
I'm want to make one and take it off a solid jump at a resort. I work at one and on employee day we can bring whatever we want to the hill
Nice! That would he the time to do it haha
well done
idk what part of the pnw you live in. but ive seen alot of people with ski bikes at stevens pass.
You should do a video with you using this bike now in 2021
Is it better to use a very small bike for a donor?
I would find a way to thread some actual pedals on it. Last thing you want is to fall and somehow get one of those hollow pipes working as a human core sampler
I don't get snow where I live, but if I did get snow I would make one
i think i wanna build one!
I'm in the process of turning a 20 huffy Rock it kids bike into a chopper/cruiser/trailer
Get some grips on those foot pegs and you're gtg. It'd suck to land on them in any way too, probably want to get something on there that won't impale you.
Just make a brake by a normal brake but the handle pull pulls a spade like piece down as a brake
keep it up!❤️
Take it! Also, cheap handgrips for your foot pegs?
Could work! I'm definitely taking suggestions on ski bike 2.0 for next winter haha.
Cut down the foot pegs and tap them so you can screw some pedals in
