Remember, you can do this hat in any color combo you like... I like the colors I chose for mine. I wouldn't change them because they are my style... but make yours to fit your style 😊
OMG Crystal, you did an awesome job recreating that hat. Love both of your hats, the colors are really pretty. Will definitely be making one. Thank you for another great tutorial.
Great job! Really nice, Crystal! It's on my list! 💕
I'm doing a sweaterdress in the waistcoat stich... It's tedious, but 🤔 I believe if you substitute the ribbing parts for the waistcoat stich you just MIGHT be able to come REALLY CLOSE to Gary's hat. The waistcoat can be done in sc or hdc w/ just as tight of a stretch. It makes a perfect lookalike twin for knitting like his. Yours came out awesome! 😍 Just a tip on a hopeful attempt in the future. 😁 Happy hooking! 👍 & I don't know how to knit either. 😂 DISCLAIMER: The waistcoat stitch is ok for hats and anything SMALL &/OR QUICK 'N EASY. It is NOT for sweaterdresses or anything you want to have done in a week or so. It takes FOREVER to build up. Smhmh... I digress... I learned the hard way.😳😳😳
I didn’t mean to offend with my comment, you just mentioned that you couldn’t see the pattern. I figured this would have solved that problem, sorry.
Hershners has some yarn for 1.99!
I think you should stop saying sorry to Gary. I think your crochet version looks great! No need to apologize. It's absolutely fantastic.
I think the solid color hat would have worked great with the variegated yarn in herring bone section !
That was my first thought when I saw them.
I agree that would like so pretty
Carolyn I am also thinking the same thing, but I want to do the verigated with a corresponding solid in the herrigbone section. Both would really be pretty.
I think the pattern could be seen better with solid color yarn, even though I love variegated. 🤔
GORGEOUS colors. I made 6 baby and premie hats yesterday in remembrance of my father who was a premie when born and not expected to live. His goal was to speed ski until age 101. He passed away a week ago age 84. He skied 50 resorts and won 2 medals in senior Olympics for speed skiing. I will make these hats for family in Olympic colors. So thank you Crystal...you're a gem.
Donating baby hats to hospital and blankets to match instead of buying flowers as family wanted donations to go colon cancer so I wanted it to go to babies and families.
Nice! I learned a new stitch! I had never heard of the "Herringbone" stitch. I guess you can teach an old dog new stitches! LOL!!
They’re both great! You did Gary proud!
I love the crochet version of the hat!
I’m going to try it out after I get through my shawl... so excited.
🥳
Just finishing this up, sitting here yesterday afternoon, late night last night, early mid morning (just now) and can't wait to send you a picture of what it looks like. I had so much fun following along with Crystal making this!
you absolutely do teach well enough so a beginner could make this, I have learnt so much from you.....a million thanks xx
Both are beautiful. Maybe we could do the herringbone section in a solid and the ribbing in the multi color. The herringbone is the eye catcher, so a solid color shows it off more. The ribbing could be a multi color where the dominant color matches the solid. Great job, as always, Crystal. 👍
Can't stop making hats, I'm excited!
I made it woohoo😊❤ and I really enjoyed it. Thank you Crystal, you made it so easy. Love you and God-bless, Jesus hugs ❤😊
I’ve been looking forward to this video since you said you were going to copy your hat. I’m loving it
I think your very talented to even try what you did awesome job gary will be proud of the job you did again awesome job
Both hats are lovely. The yarn used for the varigated hat is beautiful!!
Love love love making beanies!!!! So YAY!!!!
Wow that was fast Crystal! Love Gary’s bush tracker ...I am sure he will be so proud of you....
This was fun! Also came out perfectly! I used two colors a grey for the main color and orange for the middle band. My husband’s favorite college team colors. He loves it.
LOVE your crocheted version of Gary’s hat! You did an awesome job Crystal! My favorite is the two-tone brown hat, solely because of the herringbone definition.
Love the yarn and love the hat, I do agree that it is too busy a yarn for the hat, a solid colour for the herringbone section would be perfect. Another one to add to my to do list. Well done Crystal, I would love to be able to make my own designs the way you do, keep up the great work xxx
Great job on the crochet version Crystal!!! Love the herringbone! ❤
Your hats are really pretty Crystal!
Thank you. Will make couple for our local hats and scarfs for people in need for next winter. Great job!!
Thank you so much for all your videos. You are a GREAT teacher. You are like me I love brown, yellow, and all 70s colors. Love you you!!
I can not stop admiring the vargated yarn, it is so beautiful! Now I am going to have to do some more yarn shopping! Thanks Crystal!😊
Gary will be soooo proud of you. They are wonderful.
All three look great. The multi colpr ones appear more dressy amd the solid more casual. They are all very nice.

Beauty job Crystal, you did justice to Gary's design.
I didn't like the variegated yarn at all until you put it on! Amazing. (Of course everything you wear looks good on you!) You are right about not being able to see the Herringbone, we noticed that in another hat pattern.... I crocheted one in a solid and the Herringbone Sts really stood out. A really great tutorial, thanks sweetie ❣️💜♥️💚🤗😁
I, too, love the variegated yarn. Brown is a favorite color of mine also, paired with a nice blue and /or pink.
