Sonic games are known for being a little edgy but their content is usually family friendly. However the series has had its share of scary sequences and creepy, unexpected moments. Yeah, but the song sounds like people screaming, which actually sort of makes sense because of the weird prisoners getting burned alive by the lava, now that I think about it.
Fun fact - the Japanese audio of the secret Sonic CD message was actually supposed to be funny, but since the American version had creepy boss music, it turned it into a terrifying message.

The moment at 1:38, it is actually not intended to be scary as in japan, the song (which is the boss theme) actually has an up beat tone, the word majin may mean satan in japanese but is actually an alias for one of the creators masato nishimura and the sonic is actually just his face over the face of sonic. thats a fun fact for you.

Metal Sonic can be unlocked after collecting all 130 Emblems in SA1, and on Steam, there will be achievements related to unlocking the character and beating all the stages with it.
Yeah, it’s Metal. You can play as him in the GameCube port after getting all of the emblems.

Just for people who didn't know, the easter egg in Sonic CD (now well known due to FNF as Majin Sonic) has the face of Masato Nishimura, a designer at Sega. The creepy music wouldn't have been as creepy in Japan as it was here because that was the boss music there.
A good honorable mention is Dark Gaia's transformation to Perfect Dark Gaia. The close ups made it even more disturbing

Considering that the hidden message in CD uses the boss theme, it's a bit less creepy with the JP soundtrack
SOMETHING YOU MAY HAVE MISSED: The Gerald Robotnick thing goes just a bit deepr if you look closely and it's easy to miss. When Amy breaks Sonic out of the cell on Prison Island, after sonic runs off Amy makes not of all of the writing on the walls of the cell, mostly scientific formulas and the like. Fast forward to the Gerald Robotnick recording and look into the background, it's the same formulas. While not really creepy I suppose, it is implied that Sonic was thrown into the same cell and that literally everything that happens in SA2 and even forward is because of the GUN organization who was never held accountable.
So Sonic was meant to be executed?

A few things I think we can all say the 06 on a game gave us all weird mixed emotions. I definitely like the antagonist in the game but the relationship was interesting...
When I was a kid I had very limited time on my mom's computer and the one game I had was Sonic CD and Sonic r... When it was the weekend my mom said I can go ahead and use her computer and I can play my Sonic game which I did, I played till about 11:30 at night. Somehow I discovered the sound test menu after beating the game several times... So much I straight up found fun is infinite.... I was petrified because I didn't know what I did wrong.
That probably goes as one of the most creepiest things I've encountered in a game unintentionally. The second one was accidentally going to romanis ranch in Majora's mask as the aliens are abducting Romani... 🤣
The first video literally has my type of music and it brings me back to playing those types of games.
For the people asking why Sonic.Exe is not on this list. That is because it is not part of the official Sonic game series.
Sonic.Exe was a fan made creepypasta, later turned into a game by an indie developer. So it is not a creepy moment found in a Sonic game, but rather a deliberatly creepy fan fiction. Hence it has no reason to be on this list. If I make a Creepy Sonic Fan fiction video then obviously I will include it there, or perhaps do a reading of the original Creepypasta on the channel sometime if you guys would like that.

2:15 The audio that plays here is actually the boss theme for the United States' soundtrack of Sonic CD. I never really thought that the US boss theme fit in with game. As the bosses aren't intended to be scary, and many of them are fun to play against. Would you wanna be listening to *this* while fighting a giant pinball machine?
I honestly think most of the American ost sucks. Especially the boss music. This is why when I’m playing the mobile version, I make sure the Japanese version is on.

I never thought King Boom Boo to be scary. In fact, when I first saw him, all I could do was joke around comparing him to King Boo from Mario (the name also encouraged me to do that). His noises just sounded like annoying ghosty sounds, never really "agonizing pain"

The first Sonic game I played was Sonic Advance 3, and I had NO clue about the bubble mechanic. I drowned SO many times, and today that song is still videogame trauma to me. XD
Honestly I'm surprised nothing from Sonic Lost World (2013) got thrown up here. That game has so much talk about death and genocide. I'm just gonna list a few examples that I feel fit the list.
- Zor's (presumed) Death where he says, "I accept the cold Embrace of death" as he falls into LAVA. That coupled with his repeated calling of everything as pointless paints a disturbing image of him possibly being depressed
- Zomom's eating habits have a "Heheh, oh..." moment when he mentions that his mom called him a failure when he's defeated for the last time... yeah, like above, those two things coupled paint an image of a possible ED in my opinion
- Zazz, Zavok, and Eggman have some pretty graphic threats. Zazz threatens to skin Sonic alive, Zavok threatens to knock all of Sonic's teeth out and feast on his fear, and Eggman says that he's fine as long as be can strangle a Zeti
- All the talk about genocide, It happens too often to pin a single thing
- Zomom threatening to eat Sonic
- The fact that the Deadly Six end up *KILLING LITERALLY EVERYTHING AND WE WATCH AMY DIE* just to become more powerful
- Eggman being able to enslave 6 WORLD ENDING DEMONS
- Sonic loses EVERYONE ON HIS TEAM by Lava Road ACT 1 (there are 4 acts) and almost all of them are presumed DEAD.
Yeah, this game has it's flaws (the D6 aren't characterized too well and Tails gets pretty annoying at times) but DAMN why did they go that hard

I could add another creepy thing from Sonic games. In Sonic Unleashed, the cutscene for a final boss transformation, Perfect Dark Gaia, is pretty creepy with those additional arms bursting from it's body and additional eyes popping up followed by a large one from it's jaw.

To this day I find Gerald Robotnik's entire speech disturbing, the way he looks, the sadness and anger in his voice, what he's saying in general, and I don't know why but the fact he's not moving at all just makes it creepier, combined with the fact it's all moments before his execution is so disturbing. It's one of my favourite moments from any Sonic game. It makes the story more dramatic and serious. SA2 definitely had the best storyline of any Sonic game in my opinion.

The thing that scared me the most in Sonic games is at the end of the Sa2 Dark story, after a really cool preview talking about Sonic's arrest and terrorism, whatever, *BUT* at the end of the preview, the narrator says," Farewell Sonic... forever..." That line always made me think about the horrible ways Sonic could die...
King boom boo also appears in sonic team racing, in his stage. I can’t remember the name, it’s sm like Boom’s house or sm like that. He ‘welcomes’ racers into his house at the start, and opens a portal to the finish line later on

When I was a kid, probably 8-9 years old, and I saw that Gerald Robotnik scene for the first time, I was disturbed, but, I didn't realize at the time he was about to be execute. At the time, I thought he was wearing a straight jacket and locked up in an asylum.
What really got me before that though was the reading of Gerald's diary, when it switches from Rouge reading to Gerald reading I was floored, especially when he started talking about Maria (I think my dumbass might not have realized that Maria had died until that point).
You probably forgot the infamous Sonic Unleashed opening cutscene where it shows sonic's skeleton when he is electrocuted, but Sega didn't want to scare kids away so they removed that in the final release.
