The "Image by Majin" thing has been explained for years. The picture was drawn by Sega artist Masato Hirano, and is just him putting his own face on Sonic's body, which just looks unintentionally creepy in the pixelated rendering. The signature is not actually "Majin", but "Madin" which was Masato Hirano's childhood nickname and the code you enter to see the image (46 12 25) is his date of birth backwards (25th December 1946) As for why the music is different in the US version, the truth to that is very simple: part of an article about Sonic's history included with the 2003 Prima strategy guide for Sonic advance 2, read: "at the time, Sega of America had built a high budget recording studio to complement their first push into CD audio on the then-new CD platform and probably deemed it necessary to get some bang for their buck. Thus Sonic CD's OST was reorchestrated for its US release."
8:25 It's actually a misunderstanding: as you said, the music isn't creepy in the PAL/JP versions, Majin is actually Mazin, the nickname of one of the developers of Sonic CD, and the creepy sonic is just supposed to be a funny picture of sonic with his face on it
Fun fact: Majin was supposedly not meant to be creepy, Majin stood for the nickname of one of the Sonic creators, so they put him in the game as an easter egg
Cool video you made, although you completely missed some spots I’d like to clear up for a better understanding: About the UFOs in Marble zone, during Sonic 1’s development, they originally planned to have the story being set up in some sort of a Fantasy world, the UFOs being the remains of that idea, in fact, Green Hill is the only fully realized zone from the fantasy world setting. The Majin/Mazin screen was already debunked as an attempt for antipiracy. Later reused as something to troll players. The name signed is Masato Nishimura’s nickname. For your "cat" posters in Sonic Adventure, it was a spider girl which concepts were shared recently. Also Sonic.EXE is just a fan creepypasta that was badly written. Also here’s a better creepy question, is Infinite Bits really Infinite?
If Sonic 1 stayed with the fantasy idea, Spring Yard would have been a futuristic sparkling city, Labyrinth a cavern with massive crystals, Star Light a space station, and Scrap Brain a giant wooden clock with machinery (Hence Clock (W)ork Zone)
The reasoning for the unsettling music used in Sonic CD us is because during development they wanted to have everything a set way but then the US team wanted their own thing and to mainly stand out from what was going at the time in terms of music and we ended up with that
The thing that's always bugged me about the US soundtrack is that they never bothered to make music for any of the past stages, and just used the Japanese release's music for them. Every zone had pretty much the same motif if not the same or similar melody for all 4 possible times in the Japan version, and the Present and both Future stages had the same thing going for it in the US, but it was so jarringly different from the past stages because they just recycled the past stages. It was possible for a kid like me in the 90s with no internet to hear both versions of the soundtrack because Sonic 3 & Knuckles was released for PC as Sonic & Knuckles Collection, and was bundled with the Sonic Screen Saver, which included all of the music from Sonic 1, 2, 3, & Knuckles, and CD. It only had the Japanese version of the Sonic CD soundtrack, and I remember wasting hours just listening to the music. Then I played Sonic CD, and the first time I ended up in the past I was like "I've heard this before..."
My personal theory regarding the haunted areas is that there being caused by a Phantom Ruby in the area. There was one on Angel Island so maybe there's more of them causing illusions in these places. I've always wanted to know more about all the ghosts we see in Sonic games.
Ok. Let me clarify something. That Sonic.exe thing you told everyone about was a simple scary story/copypasta made by a user named JC the Hyena. And the footage provided was a fangame from GameJolt made by Myst Crimson. Sega NEVER made Sonic.exe, they only acknowledged it in 2 of their posts on Twitter. And if Sonic.exe was actually canon, he would've been redesigned by SEGA a LONG time ago. Fun Fact: The Sonic.exe Creepypasta was once rejected from the Creepypasta wiki for having way too many clichés such as multiple ammounts of gore, etc. And it was once reposted in the trollpasta wiki. Look it up.
this vid was very fun! i also watched it with the lights out with gives me creepy vibes but i like that. nice vid tho beter than the mario one, do more of these pls.
To explain the “Fun Is Infinite” Easter egg, those faces are actually the face of the level designer Masato Nishimura, who actually provided the Sonic voice lines in CD too, the intended music to play is the boss theme because in Japan, the boss theme is considered goofy, so depending on what region you’re in, the Egg can be interpreted as either silly or oddly creepy. As for the OST change at all, it is because the localizer wanted to make the OST darker to fit with the more serious tone Western Sonic was given at the time (a major example are the SaTAM cartoons). Literally everyone agrees that the US OST change was unnecessary
there is a lot of take-aways you can get from the aquatic mine itself. for example the miners probably had the mine flood on purpose because the switches were already there, AND that is the place where you get the air necklace. my theory is that the mines were connected to the sewer system because that was where the first sign of whatever they were mining for originated from, maybe a porous material that floats upward which is why the miners needed the water/flooding system. could be the crystals that make up the chaos drives considering how they are housed and float as a result of the energy they give off. As to why you can't see the entities that resemble prisoners... perhaps E102 as a robo cannot see them. the e100 series were not good at sensing chaos energy and were all convinced they had gotten the right frog, so the entities may have a similar wavelength.
I feel like the drowning noise is even creepier then the boss fight noise because it just pops out of nowhere to jump scare you and you know when the Bossfight music please
Actually tails doll insides is actually a robot and why because the way it floats but look at the antenna no dolls have an antenna(except teletubbies) so yeah this might be one of eggmans inventions and called his invention to clone tails tails doll and eggman knows what tails can do use his tail to fly and go like a hovercraft and tails doll is copying his movement but eggman decided to make him scary for tails to not have any weird or good dreams
8:08 Majin is a nickname for one of the developers (or director?) of Sonic CD. The screen wasn't meant to be as creepy as it comes off being. "Fun is infinite" is also a phrase that was hidden in a collector's edition of Sonic Mania merchandise as well, if memory serves!
The Cope one was apparently explained as a mistranslation. They had intended for motivational words like "go", "carry on" etc, encouraging the player to continue on, but some meanings got lost in translation so rather than "keep going" in the face of adversity, they did "cope" instead (likely referencing coping with the enemies in front of you as opposed to dealing with them)
Uh to clarify the fun is infinite pic it was an easter egg done by the landscape designer for sonic cd. Since in the japanese version of sonic cd the boss theme is more funky also that's the face of the sonic cd's landscape designer along with his childhood nickname madin not majin The buff sonic pic that is seen in sonic cd, is mean to be a reference to dc's iconic detective Batman.
8:08 “Majin” is actually the name of an employee on the team. And the sprite is supposed to be his mustached face over Sonic. This was a well known thing for years. It just happens that Majin translated to “The Devil”
I think there was also a weird mystery in the 8-bit Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear/Master System), where, in Sky High Zone Act 1, you had to go to this hidden area on the left side of the stage that had a 1-up monitor. You jump over it and approach it from the left, and then you'll see these tiny chicks that will come out of the trees. However, if you break the 1-up monitor, no more chicks will appear. Very strange easter egg, not sure if it's in the Sega Master System version (maybe it is? Since the GG and SMS versions are the exact same, only the GG version has a MUCH smaller screen, so you have to take a lot of leaps of faith), but it is in the GG version. I discovered it when I watched this vid: ruclips.net/video/1VhJ78OvgyA/видео.html
The ghosts you released from the egg are the ghosts of flickys and other animals that sonic did not get to. For one reason or another they died instead of being robotized and when you let them out the haunt sonic for his past rescue failures.
The weird red and green color character that in a sign in sonic adventure was meant to be unused character in sonic adventure 2 it meant to be this weird spider girl character at the 9:05
the biggest mystery of sonic adventure 2: battle? those damned meteors in meteor herd. i swear blind those things are locked-on and know exactly where you're gonna be before they hit. i once walked ONE, yes, ONE, step, and BANG!!
I know what you mean. But the real biggest mystery is WTF happened to Big the Cat? He cameos in every level in the Dreamcast version and is an unlockable character in multiplayer. He's just straight-up gone in SA2 Battle, and they replaced him in multiplayer with Dark Chao. *Big* sad.
I believe the actual robot in tails doll is actually housed inside the head while the rest is just a doll. It has anti-gravity capabilities of some sort.
I don't know wich one came first but Tails doll is pretty much explained in the official comics, where it is a creation of eggman. The gem is the mainpart of the "Robot" which it uses to levitate, which explains the swinging motion. It is just a badnic designed to look innocent and spy on sonic and his friends.
I was surprised Majin, Tails Doll and Sonic.exe was in this video since this dude never talks about creepypastas at all. Edit: i love Majin especially in his fnf song. He has a silly personality to the community and I love it. ENDLESS IS FUNN.
Tails Doll has been explained, in Gamma's first mission in Sonic Adventure, he tests his shooting abilities by blowing up dolls of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails. In all likelihood, Tails Doll was one that Eggman refitted to have another minion in the race tournament.
For the Time Eater, they are doing a Sequel/Remake of Sonic Generations named Sonic×Shadow Generations and leaks talk about Mephiles being present in the Game
11:04 genuinely the visual image of someone messing up this level and looking up to see if they're missing anything just to see the words "COPE" in bright flashing letters is hilarious.
I think I know some of these. Tails doll was a much design by Robotnik to be creepy, which would make Sonic lose the race. Sonic.exe isn't real. America is kind of known for preferring hard-core spooky stuff, hence the music change. Mazin was a nickname for a developer in Sonic CD and that is his face and message. The Ghosts are ghosts, just your average ghost, people die all the time. Sonic.exe isn't real. The cope tile thing is something to do with what the game was made on, from what I've heard (or they're telling you to deal with it). The Pumpkin Hill rocks may have bonfires if people live there. Sonic.exe isn't real.
It's always been my head canon that Pumpkin Hill was Red Mountain's outside, and Aquatic Mine was the inside. As you noted, the mines are connected to the city sewers. It's pretty likely that Chaos flooding the city could have flooded the sewers and by extension, the mines. It was a lot of water. While Red Mountain didn't have a Halloween theme, it's possible it became haunted between games, and the new residents carved up the landscape like you would carve a jack-o-lantern, just for squeeks and giggles. It's pretty clear that Robotnik made the pyramid from Sandopolis his base before Sonic got there, seeing as he's waiting down there for the boss battle. It's probably the same pyramid base from SA2. Also, pretty big flub saying Sandopolis was from Sonic 3 😜
I remember an intervew in which a japanese dev said they didn't know what the English word "Cope" meant but that is sounded cool to them so, they added it there, amongst other words.
Tails doll is just one of eggmans creations, no evil spirits. He even makes an appearance in an official comic. I don’t remember it exactly but someone says something about how sonic and knuckles get cool metal counterparts but tails just gets a freaky doll.
Quick theory about the ghost in sandoppalis , what if Eggman went into the primed and captured some animals and forgot about them. Then when sonic releases the animals, it's to late. The animals then haunt sonic throughout the act, trying to seek revenge because they think sonic let them die and rot in the capsule
9:08 we actualy did see the concept art for that charicter. it got shown recently, Ian flynn even tagged it. it was concept art for a spider charicter, i think they just snuck her into the game just because.
That creepy screen in Sonic CD is actually a caricaturised version of the face of one of the developers. The name at the bottom is the developer's name, not the name of the devil, lol
the original sonic.exe creepypasta was removed from the internet because of how bad and full of cliches it was, but the damage was already been done and thousands of copies of the original creepypasta were already been made.
Yes majin does mean demon but was also the childhood nickname for Masato Nishimura the landscape developer for Sonic CD. Sega have stated that the screen wasn't supposed to be scary and made with the Japanese/European music in mind and not an anti piracy screen. The Majin Sonic's face is also just a mask not his actual face.
The Sonic CD music is just creepy to me even in JPN OR ENG Just the levels if you played at night you would get a uncomfortable feeling while listening to the music or the level desgin for some reason

That laugh in the song was a eggmen I think
Then I played Sonic CD, and the first time I ended up in the past I was like "I've heard this before..."
bro some of the mysteries in this video have been explained.
yeah, and i hate how he says "no one really knows", when bro clearly didnt do any research
@@edgardeivisfr
Dude said Sandopolis was in Sonic 3. I'm not sure how much effort was put into this
@@metasteelgaming4373I mean, it was?
Is even in the game level select screen💀
My personal theory regarding the haunted areas is that there being caused by a Phantom Ruby in the area. There was one on Angel Island so maybe there's more of them causing illusions in these places. I've always wanted to know more about all the ghosts we see in Sonic games.
Him: "one of the more mysterious maps called-"
ad: "SONIC FORRRCESSS!!"
Damn I saw them in sonic adventure but I didn't mind them
Great video dude. It would be awesome if you did more of these mystery themed videos.
Honey, wake up. Detective Bits is back.
GOATed comment
Detective bits back at it makes me happy
Actually tails doll insides is actually a robot and why because the way it floats but look at the antenna no dolls have an antenna(except teletubbies) so yeah this might be one of eggmans inventions and called his invention to clone tails tails doll and eggman knows what tails can do use his tail to fly and go like a hovercraft and tails doll is copying his movement but eggman decided to make him scary for tails to not have any weird or good dreams
The see trough guys in Prison based on the Electric chair got the death penalty
Since in the japanese version of sonic cd the boss theme is more funky also that's the face of the sonic cd's landscape designer along with his childhood nickname madin not majin
The buff sonic pic that is seen in sonic cd, is mean to be a reference to dc's iconic detective Batman.
14:26 Dr. Eggman puts animals in those capsules. So its possible they could be ghosts of the animals.
Dark
They suffocated to death, then haunt Sonic for not saving them in time.
Great interesting video
13:11 this level takes it to the next level 👌🏻
Zelda mysteries next?
8:08
“Majin” is actually the name of an employee on the team.
Mephiles doesn't erase space and time, he just freely travels through time without needing Chaos Emeralds.
The ghosts you released from the egg are the ghosts of flickys and other animals that sonic did not get to. For one reason or another they died instead of being robotized and when you let them out the haunt sonic for his past rescue failures.
Answer to 6:11 to 8:48 the name in the bottom corner is the terain builder and the face is that guys face but he put it on Sonic
The weird red and green color character that in a sign in sonic adventure was meant to be unused character in sonic adventure 2 it meant to be this weird spider girl character at the 9:05
9:02 I think thats blaze
the biggest mystery of sonic adventure 2: battle? those damned meteors in meteor herd. i swear blind those things are locked-on and know exactly where you're gonna be before they hit. i once walked ONE, yes, ONE, step, and BANG!!
*Big* sad.
The creepy sonics name is actually now a creepypasta. It’s apart of sonic . Exe now, because It was scary. They make more creepypastas.
The creepy void in the mansion looks like when kids close their eyes tight and rub them 😂😂😂
The marble zone ufos look like eyes.
sonic cd boss music US: ends..
victory music :oh yeah I'm totally over it now
Those *UFOs* maybe just some weird marbles with green rings!
4:25 I feel like those “UFOs” are just…. Idk marbles?
I think you’re right
Kind of look like the Sega Saturn logo, but the timing is off.
The weird face in sonic adventure I think its blaze
majin sonic is actually a message from the devs. The face looks like one of the creators
Even the sonic cd us version's game over song is really creepy
the Cope sign in Spring Yard Zone of Sonic 1 was intended to be an encouraging message to the player
Buddy Tails doll is an official character☠️
TY WE NEED MORE CREEPY VIDS
Also fun fact:tails dolls gem is also a tracking device
Bro new favorite channel good job
Tails Doll has been explained, in Gamma's first mission in Sonic Adventure, he tests his shooting abilities by blowing up dolls of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails. In all likelihood, Tails Doll was one that Eggman refitted to have another minion in the race tournament.
Also, "cope" as a term can be used to refer to athletic courses that have been designed to be difficult. You have to "cope" with the difficulty.
For the Time Eater, they are doing a Sequel/Remake of Sonic Generations named Sonic×Shadow Generations and leaks talk about Mephiles being present in the Game
11:04
genuinely the visual image of someone messing up this level and looking up to see if they're missing anything just to see the words "COPE" in bright flashing letters is hilarious.
Can't confirm, though.
Majin sonic is a Easter egg for one of the Developers
I like how you used Lost Woods theme from Breath of the Wild
I mean, sonic 3&k is a thing
Plus sandopolis is literally on the game select screen of sonic 3 alone💀
Fun is infinite ♾️
Well tails doll is in the exe team!!
I remember an intervew in which a japanese dev said they didn't know what the English word "Cope" meant but that is sounded cool to them so, they added it there, amongst other words.
I always wondered who the guys on thumbmail was in sonic adventures.
I absolutely love this series, please make more videos like this
Infinite bits can you make a video with unexplained Zelda mysteries pls I am subbed
11:41 That was added there because "You're too slow!" and your slowness made you read it so you must cope with that.
9:08 we actualy did see the concept art for that charicter. it got shown recently, Ian flynn even tagged it.
it was concept art for a spider charicter, i think they just snuck her into the game just because.
5:29 my theory is that the little red thing on his head lifts up his whole body
Also the creepy song got put into slap battles for a part that was supposed to make you scream like you're in lethal conpany
Something you missed.
The box from Hellraiser is in Hydrocity Zone.
So you're telling me that the sonic CD USA boss battle theme is scary? Idk about you, but i like it
it goes hard
@edgardeivis fr. And a boss theme should be intimidating, not happy go lucky
@@Stoked_magic i love both versions personally !
Majin Sonic is actually a good guy
He just wants people to have tons of fun with Sega’s games
Hench the “fun is infinite with Sega enterprises”
Strange how sega has never explained much on the time eater
The time eater was explained to be found by eggman when it was a baby if i remember correctly
Those planets on marble zone is some type of colorful mysterious moons on the sonic world
