I think the camo is so sharp…love how geometrical/tight it appears….then with the chipping and blending, it appears so realistic. Great addition with the barbed wire, too. Would love to see a real Tiger in person (well, maybe not facing one in battle :))
Nice work, looks great. I really like that you didn’t over do it with rust and weathering . Other guys over do it, their models look great. Don’t get me wrong , but the war was 1939-1945 . The war was over in six years . Some models look like they’ve been lost in the woods for thirty. My Grandfather was a tank driver in the Canadian Army, he lost five tanks from 43-45 . Most of those vehicles never lasted long enough to look that old
User this "Dazzle" camouflage on a Toyota Corolla years ago. Got so many compliments and was incredibly easy to find in a packed parking lot. Forgot all about it until I saw your video. Used this same technique to camouflage my Heng Long Tiger 1. Now it looks totally badass and lethal. Much more so than the straight grey. Thanks for the video!!
The fraying of the tubing can be easily corrected by moving a flame across it quickly. If you look at the ends as it comes from Tamiya it is exactly what they did. Instructions also point out to paint before cutting. Flame worked great for me as it shrunk it a bit to fit tighter onto the plastic "piping" from the air boxes.

Thanks Russell. Yeah, it's a great little kit. I know that feeling when you get a kit, there are 2 or 3 different schemes, and you want to use them all!
I use boiling water on sections only that need to sag.....drop the area in cup then pour still boiling water over...take out soon as steam goes and drape over tracks with some weight on,leave to cool and hey presto did it on my last tamiya panther...worked a treat and they still sag...or if you have access someone who has 3d printer and scanner, scan the links supplied in styrene then print them out and make plastic tracks. Great work love camouflage scem, and as goes removing outer road wheels this was done on all tiger's early and light models and thay put on transport tracks which weren't as wide so they could fit on flatbed railway Cars without hitting tunnels and anything else on the Lines and the same goes for King tigers as well.👍👍👍
Thanks Neville. I knew about the thinner transport tracks. I feel like later Tigers and variants had generally fewer wheels too though - I seem to remember it being something to do with steel rimmed wheels which could support more weight than the rubber rimmed wheels.
@@ModelNerd Hi yes later tiger's had Steel rimmed road wheels and still had the same amount of road wheels as the early tigers, and because later in the war rubber was becoming rather scarce, also it's quicker and easier to build tanks with steel road wheels take a look at other tanks later in the war as thay started having steel wheels fitted.👍

Great camo pattern. Nice end result 👌. I have a Tiger 1 in the stash pile, this might be the look I'll go for when I get to build it. I have yet to start the Elefant but will keep this in mind. 👍🏻
Awesome video!!! Have this very same kit as well and have been building it for roughly 2 years now. Well, mostly finished - just could not make up my mind about the camo/decal scheme I wanted to use. Watching this video, think you finally helped make up my mind. That is a very awesome looking camo scheme. The barb was never on the front on any reference pics the crew had to have one way on and off too! I'm yet to find this hard edge camo in my old books but still searching as interesting to see a navel scheme allpied
Excellent results with the painting and weathering! 👏 FWIW, I like the look of the black & white splinter camo. It reinforces the idea of the Tiger I being a 'battleship on land'. 😎👍👍 FYI, I recall seeing a photo of a Panther with the 9th SS Panzer Division ("Hohenstaufen") that had a black & white winter camo that consisted of zig-zagging hard-edged lines, so the camo you chose for the Tiger I is completely out of the realm of possibility. ☺
@@ModelNerd honestly the detail you manage to get is brilliant. I love making models of the old British ww2 and cold War stuff but always come up short watching this show the level of skill and dedication that goes into making them completely lifelike its an amazing skill👍
I have a fantastic colourized photo ot 332 the famous picture of it stuck in the mud the photo from the front shows a damaged S mine launcher on the right front its like it's had some heavy whack from the top it's buggered anyways haha also the front lights are the plugged mount type they were never worn on these early Tiger's really but nice build overall even though 332 never looked like this and had front wheels removed for mud clogging
Yep, you're right. I'm guessing one of two things: firstly, maybe the Tamiya instructions are just wrong (they are quite old). Secondly, it occurs to me that I may have read the table in reverse: I assumed a 'X' meant 'no' and a 'O' meant yes. But perhaps it could be the opposite?
Suspect the Tamiya instructions are misleading, they would have been better with ticks and crosses. The tank museum replaced the original spare tracks with fibreglass copies some years ago, I'm not sure if this is still the case but if there are any spares they probably want them to keep the vehicle running. I believe one possible unique feature of Tiger 131 is the step iron beneath the spare track retainer - apparently, it was a crew modification. Great model by the way, I remember building the original Tamiya version many years ago which at the time seemed fantastic compared to anything else available.
I'm currently building the LE version of this kit with the ABER PE and metal barrel. I'm going with a winter Eastern front look. The escape hatch on the loader side makes this kit anything but early and the feifel air cleaner system also doesn't belong on any Eastern front Tiger 1.
You ended up with a really fine looking Tiger, although I would like to pick a few nits. AFAIK, only one unit, S. Pz. Abt. 505 added barbed wire to their (early) Tigers during operation citadel. Also the colour scheme of Tiger 332 was never gray, according to most Tiger experts I've heard. I still enjoyed the video though.
Thanks Nordus. Fair points. It's interesting how the Tamiya instructions mention the grey but were written a long time ago (90s) and as you say, have subsequently turned out to be wrong. Incredible that we're still learning new things about these events and vehicles even today.
Thought about picking this up yesterday or the day before can't remember, or was it this past weekend? but I think I'm just going to get a ryefield interior kit cuz if I'm going to build a tiger and or Panther I'm going to build one with an interior

@@ModelNerd Thanks mate, I'll look into trying to get one. The cheap one I have now isn't working and doesn't seem to want to spray the paint no matter how much I attempt to thin it.
Just out of interest, do you put a gloss coat over the paint scheme before adding the washes? Otherwise what do you use to remove it without removing the paint as I usually use lacquer thinner :D
Yes - either a gloss or semi gloss coat to protect the underlying paint. Then enamel thinner to remove any excess wash. Recently I've started using semi-gloss more - gloss is a bit too smooth, and makes it harder to get back to a matt state at the end.
I think the camo is so sharp…love how geometrical/tight it appears….then with the chipping and blending, it appears so realistic. Great addition with the barbed wire, too. Would love to see a real Tiger in person (well, maybe not facing one in battle :))

Forgot to ask u,if i would do same style camouflage but before spraying white colour i apply hairspray for chipping that white(will it effect colour under layer of hairspray? ) many thanks 🙏🏻
Yes, you'd apply the grey, then the hairspray, then the white - and only the white would be affected by the hairspray.
@@ModelNerd thank u mate 🙏🏻
U more than welcome 🙌🏻 by the way,how you mixed those 3 vallejo colours for exhaust pipes?
Just curious but does the hull machine gun move?
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes, it moves.
Amazing job done on tank! How u made that pigment paste?
Thanks. The paste was just pigments mixed with thinner (enamel thinner or white spirit).
@@ModelNerd thank u for that mate!many people on fb groups were making pigment mix some sort of scientific level thing and finally I found out how easy is that🙏🏻this is very helpful and once again thank u for that!By the way I have to admit that your channel and panzermeister36 are personally the best channels on here 🙌🏻
Thanks for the kind words mate. Yes, I love Panzermeister's channel - especially his weathering tutorials.
👍👍👍
Thanks
Great job.Curios as to why what appears to be Japanese or some Asian language on decal sheet as a marking?
Thanks Mike. According to the instructions that is the unit marking for Tiger S33 of PzReg 2.
What color of wood are you using?
I don't remember to be honest. Just a light brown / beige colour.
Awesome work mate! Also hey I wanted to know what type of airbrush you use, or could recommend to me? If you could it'd be a massive help haha.
Anyways keep making awesome videos
Thanks mate. My airbrush is a Harder & Steenbeck Ultra with 0.2mm and 0.5mm (?) needles. It's my first airbrush and I've no complaints :)
@@ModelNerd Thanks mate, I'll look into trying to get one. The cheap one I have now isn't working and doesn't seem to want to spray the paint no matter how much I attempt to thin it.
Yeah - airbrushing is definitely a bit of a black art. Good luck!
@@ModelNerd thanks so much man, will be sure to give it a try
Yo we’re did u get the mini barbed wire
I can't remember to be honest - probably Hobby Link Japan, but a lot of model shops should stock it.
Oh thax I’m getting this model and want it to look beast lol
