  • Ferrari prices have been falling for the last 1.5 years, but does this mean that you should you avoid Ferraris if you care about values? The situation seems to be worse than ever.

    10:39 Conclusion
Prices for most mid-engine Ferraris have been falling for about 1.5 years and they continued to do so during the last three months. However, also the older models like the 360 and F430 started to show some signs of weakness after a stable period. Should this stop you from buying one if you care about values?
Based on the data, I think that the Ferrari market is doing relatively well in relation to other markets. Depreciation rates are lower, inflation adjusted prices are not over inflated, and inventory developments are mildly optimistic.

Depreciation is no different than lighting money on fire. Your wealth simply vaporizes. I don’t know too many people who earned their money who are okay with that. Mainly I see that from people who inherited their money from someone else who earned it, such as their parents or grandparents.

9:35 One thing that I didn't directly hear you say is that when the market reaches a certain price point and it leads to a shift in carried over inventory to the downside, that suggests demand is meeting the supply at that price point aka the new prevailing price is close to equilibrium. That would signal that downward price pressures may not continue for much longer if at all. Dealers may even mark up their product by $5-10k in the short-term.

Hey buddy. One thing that you should consider adding to your graphs is quantity. Especially when we're talking prices over a period of time.
By doing so, you'll put the price and the trend into perspective.
Something as simple as having a # figure over each of the data points (dots) on the graph.

Once you get to a certain point, your money is making so much interest that you have to blow it on yachts, planes, failed investments, and buying off politicians just to keep up.

Nearly all car prices will continue to fall as the economy tanks. The last 3 years were a silly anomaly and now prices not only need to fall back to where they were before the pandemic, they need to fall further to where they would have been with normal depreciation over a 3 year period. So yeah, not a good time to buy any car and the deals will be there in another year or two when things get tough.

Ferraris are your maintenance cost absolute worst nightmare. McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti - these cars are out of reach for normal people as they don't have normal maintenance costs. People who buy cars like that have serious fuck you money. Maintenance costs are so high its incomparable to anything.
The only luxury sports car in the truly affordable mainstream market is probably Porsche.
