It's another amazing performance and another gold medal by Filippo Ganna, but an admirable effort by Dan Bigham as well to push him that hard.
regaining huge 2 seconds gap in just 500 meters... incredible

Top Ganna said in an interview “please tell me how I did it because I don’t know” 😂😂
He runs a very large gear, requiring him to build speed as he goes. He ran about the same time in qualifying that morning, so Bigham knew what he was up against. Ganna ran about .6 second slower in the final, whereas Bigham ran about .9 faster, thus losing by a mere .054 seconds. So Ganna basically performed to expectations, while Bigham over-achieved. But as a spectator, wow was that exciting! Also, Bigham is an advisor to Ganna (via Ineos) and the Danish team pursuit squad who beat Ganna’s Italian team in the final. So they’re all learning from one another and pushing each other.
