Yep, what he said. Ive seen many reviews and yours covered everything I wanted to know intelligently in a laid- back, fun style. Well done! Please do the comparable Honda 9 as well as the little brothers... MT-07 and the Honda CB 650R. On the fence between those two displacements and brands 🏍👍🏻😎✌🏼
A good beginner bike would be a dual sport.....light....old and used so you don't worry about dropping it ;) Plus offroad riding increases skill overall
I grew up riding bikes rode my first 750 when I was about 16. Then a 900 when I was maybe 17, had a Honda interceptor 999 at 18 and drove a few 1000's too... All my friends who had bike were scared to death of em but I loved em... Now I'm not into street bikes anymore I just wanna ride and relax

As much as I love the yamaha blue, and man do i love it, its such a beautiful deep blue and accents the black amazingly but I think I'm gonna go for the raven black. I'm buying one of these in a few months hopefully. Just shopping around now to see where I can get the best deal.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed No I have a cbr300r, I ended up going with a new 2020 Street Triple R! I got a good deal on it and it has so many awesome features like a quick shifter up and down and fully adjustable suspension.
Nice video, but I wouldn’t encourage beginners towards the 09 :D they will be better of on the MT-07 (or even smaller) and master the power first. I’ve seen so many new riders jump on bigger bikes, and they’d either be scared for life or never learn to use a bike in that caliper. Been riding for now for 12yrs and I would not have skipped the 650 i started on before moving upwards in power. I learned to curve and the small roads, and unfortunately I have quite some friends riding larger bikes that never will be able to follow me on smaller roads due to them never learning to master too big of a bike as their first (they’re simply scared of them - even though they off course cover it with other stories ;) ) Keep them videos coming :)
I just purchased a 2020 silver and blue MT-09. awesome bike. I don't have any where to put my wallet, house keys, insurance papers. do you recommend a backpack, or a seat bag ? Thanks
Underneath the seat is plenty of room for insurance papers and other documents needed to just leave there..at minute 3:24, a phone can go in your riding jacket along with keys and wallet. But you can just use a backpack or tank bag. I use both just depends on what I have for the day! Congrats on the purchase, bikes are a lot of fun!!
It can be! Do you have prior experience on dirt bikes at all? I would recommend an MT07, a little smaller, weights less and is cheaper. This 09 is cool because it has different settings for the throttle input, but as long as you take it easy and understand the power, it can be a good starter.
I wished to buy this bike, but boi in 2021 they ruined the headlight assembly, the samurai lights in the 2020 version look much better than that grasshopper look of 2021 very sad.
I usually lock mine up on the bike. Most bikes have a clip somewhere around the seat to put the metal portion on the strap in and lock it to the seat. If you don't feel comfortable with that, you can bring it in.
@@jamesnusky6257 Take the seat off and you should find something underneath that basically a "square metal post", your clasp on the helmet strap goes over that!
I have this exact bike. This is a pretty solid review, but he’s shifting too early when he’s trying to show how much torque there is. You feel it so much more when you’re higher in the revs.
I didn't notice much top end to be honest. Thats why I short shifted. My R6 has real top end so I didn't bother with the top end on this. This bike is all torque
Nice review bro! A question, when recording, how do you do with the wind noise? I can’t hear it at all in your video. With my GoPro I still can hear it. Regardless I have the GoPro mic adaptor, I still hear it.
I have the mic adaptor and the mic is inside my helmet close to my mouth. So it's out of the wind and that really helps with minimizing the wind and hearing me perfectly! It takes some trial and error, so just mess with it and practice different spot inside your helmet to see what works best!

I think the MT09 would be a great starter bike! Since you're new, keep it in the conservative drive mode for the first bit of riding until you get your experience. Very easy to ride and would be great!
I'm 5'10½ & age 28, just sold me 1988 CBR250R MC19 ages ago, looking at stepping up to a MT-07 HO or MT-09 or MT-09 SP for my 2nd bike as I like more power/torque. Enjoy riding on highways/towns/commuting/riding dailys. Any ideas anyone?

Splitting hairs here but that's not a 2020 but a 2019. The 2020 Yamaha blue has a grey front fender not black. The 2020 tank has silver graphics not black. But at the end of the day no one cares because it's a wonderful machine. I bought my 2020 mt09 back in march. Just now put 500 miles on it. First upgrade before anything else should be the comfort seat from Yamaha or some other brand. The stock seat is trash! Nice review!

And now I have a chance to get a MT-09 so I'm putting some $$$ down to hold it. This will be my very first bike. So would you recommend it???
Great first bike! Keep it in the conservative drive mode to feel it out, and then work your way up into the higher mode. Great bike for sure to start with. You'll like it!
hey man... great review!! I'm gonna be a first time rider and am looking to get this bike. The diff modes def would be nice in letting me get comfortable on it and not have to worry about getting a different bike when I want something more powerful. my problem is height however. I'm 6'5 190lbs and feel like that is my only limitation other than my inexperience. any thoughts or tips on if this bike would be a good fit?
Have you sat on one yet? You can at least get a feel for what it's like, but with the high handle bars it should be comfortable. I'm glad someone else left a comment who has some experience with that.
It was a fun bike, I didn't get to test out many twisty roads, but personally I'd rather be on my R6. This feels to upright for back roads, not that it can't be done, but I feel way more comfortable going at higher speeds on the R6 compared to this. Feels like more of a cruising type bike.

Correction. There is a BIG difference in the ride modes A&B. I just purchased my MT09 was advised to ride in B mode. Very basic. Switch to A mode better have a seat belt.
This bike it just looks 10 times better than the mt10.. the mt10 is not nice in my opinion, gotta say the super duke and the z1000 wins there very easy

I think they all look pretty cool, but everyone has a preference! You'll save a good chunk getting a 20 anyway especially finding a used one!

There are some listed with the black fender. So maybe this was just a lower production color than the gray

I think this is a 2019 chief. The 2020 is available in black or blue, but the blue has the grey front fender.

All are great choices! I'd go for the MT09! Ton of power to play with. You might get bored with the MT07

Yeah the conservative mode is very easy to control if you are a novice rider. As long as you can handle the weight of the bike. I don't see an issue

This is slightly bigger and heavier. I'd suggest checking both out and sitting on them to see what feels more comfortable.

hey man... great review!! I'm gonna be a first time rider and am looking to get this bike. The diff modes def would be nice in letting me get comfortable on it and not have to worry about getting a different bike when I want something more powerful. my problem is height however. I'm 6'5 190lbs and feel like that is my only limitation other than my inexperience. any thoughts or tips on if this bike would be a good fit?
Have you sat on one yet? You can at least get a feel for what it's like, but with the high handle bars it should be comfortable. I'm glad someone else left a comment who has some experience with that.

It was a fun bike, I didn't get to test out many twisty roads, but personally I'd rather be on my R6. This feels to upright for back roads, not that it can't be done, but I feel way more comfortable going at higher speeds on the R6 compared to this. Feels like more of a cruising type bike.
This bike handles curves really good. You will be impressed.

Thats a tough one! But I think with bikes, they are all so good, just see which one is more comfortable to you and what you think looks better. I'm a Yamaha fan, so i'd pick this lol
Correction. There is a BIG difference in the ride modes A&B. I just purchased my MT09 was advised to ride in B mode. Very basic. Switch to A mode better have a seat belt.

Yeah I think the MT10 looks a bit bulky. 09 has a really good style all around. I like the look of the CB1000
