I messed up on filming the bearing adjustment, I’ve left a link in description to another video demonstrating on another job we did. I haven’t posted a video for a week or so because we have been really busy and we have a new project coming next week! I forgot had this video, it’s not the best but will keep you entertained until next week. Like and subscribe and thumbs up 👍 Hope everyone is having a good week. All the best. Also there few links in description relating to this job.
Can we please get a video looking at common issues and what to look out for with the w212 (or s212) E350 face lift model? I’m sure we would all really value your knowledge on this car. Thanks
I had to adjust one of the front wheel bearings on my W204 C200 as it had been flagged as an advisory on a previous MoT due to slight play. Nipping it up slightly (not too much!) was good enough to get through the next MoT. I had to replace both front lower thrust arms on my C200 as they'd been flagged as an advisory on last year's MoT because of the bushes. I ended up having to fit genuine thrust arms. Pricey at £372 for the pair from a local dealer but it was money well spent because it improved the front end. That 6.2 V8 is an absolute beast. How do AMG parts prices compare to non-AMG? I've heard about the dreaded "AMG tax".
Well done on the bearing job, nice easy fix. AMG tax, service items are very similar. It’s when you getting into the discs and pads, shocks, things like that they get pricey. I’ve done a video explaining some prices on my own e63 link in description.
For those asking about indexing. Mark ur spark plug socket with a sharpie in the up position. Put spark plug in socket with the line and open part of plug lined up. Then screw. Torque and see if the line is facing upwards(within 45degrees). If so, u good. If not try again? Idk havent gotten that far lol
Great video. Good to meet you today, thanks for all the hard work. When the GL comes to you for gearbox service, can you do the transfer chain? I gave her some on the way home and it slipped on hard acceleration.🙄🙄
Yeah………..nah……….I’m pretty new to Mercedes, but everything I’ve seen regarding spark plug fitment makes reference to indexing-i.e. insuring that the electrode is orientated correctly in relation to the cylinder. This question has been asked 3 times in the comments, and each time your reply has blown them off. Think I’d be looking for some more information regarding this before just accepting the reply “ as long as it’s torqued to spec…….”
not many people wear overhalls seen the big green tool box god knows how much that was nice cars but so expensive great channel if you owned one why would you go to main dealer
Great video! If you need to feed the algorithm gods but you don’t have spare hands, could you fix the phone / on a tripod etc and do a Timelapse vid and narrate over it in editing? Quick and dirty!
Want to ask, are these M157 engines really that bad when it comes to cylinder scoring... a ton of people say the M157 had that as a very bad issue that could total your engine. Is this true?
How do you know if the spark plug got indexed the Correct way? It's known that mb plugs do not always index the correct way even tho they are torqued to spec. Do you think this is a mthy and a sales pitch on their end to have customers not diy stuff or go to indy mechanics
Serious question, what is the point of clicking the torque wrench 5 times? I see people doing it all the time and cannot fathom why. Second Q, I heard that it may be necessary to index the spark plugs on an M157?
@@sprautos Must be just mechanics, I use a torque wrench regularly and don't follow that practice. Indexing refers to the orientation of the plug as opposed to the gap. It's something I've heard mentioned on forums and here on YT.
You might well be able to tell by looking at the bleed nipples. There might well be witness marks in the dirt or rust where a spanner has been on them. Or, like I had on my wife's car once, they'd lost one of the rubber bleed nipple covers! 🤦♂At least I knew they'd changed the fluid...
Why didn’t you show the wheel bearing adjustment? I’ve one coming in next week E Class Coupe with a lot of play in both front wheel bearings… pity you didn’t Sam but to be fair to you it’s my fault I should of messaged you this morning when I was checking it over for the repair’s next week..
I messed up not filming it. left a link in description of another video where I adjusted the bearings 😉 Also mentioned it in the pinned comment at the top. I tried 😂

Filming was still good😀
🙏
I'll show you how to adjust the bearings before we put the wheels on! 🤣😂😅
Great vid by the way
My bad I thought I recorded it and I didn’t. I have left a link in description doing it on another job.
Nice video again, really enjoy watching it, thanks...

We have done a video covering some
Common issues on a 212 already but I’m sure we will do a buyers guide at some point.
I thought I was the only one who lubricated height adjustment linkages 😅
Top man
Great video , did I miss the wheel bearing adjustment, can't wait to see the next project.
Yea I messed up the recording. Link in description to another video of doing up a bearing.
I love watching these vids. Such great attention to detail and care in looking after the cars.
Glad you like them!
Great video - I have 07 SLK 350 - great car - appreciate these videos to learn more about repairs - I still get my mechanic to do the work
Well done mate.
Not much room on the M157 for doing the rear spark plugs, and I thought the C63 M156 was tight! Great content as always!
Thanks 👍

Camera work was fine!
Lovely car. Excellent video Sam.
Another superb vid. Appreciate the effort .

👍👍👍 no probs with the vid. Maybe try a chest harness for your gopro which will free up both hands
Not a bad idea 🙏👍👌

Can you do a video on de-carbonising GDI engines? 😊😊
Great video as always, video was good no problem at all
Do you air con check at this service or need a request by customer !
Thank you! 🙏
It’s a customer request 👍
Great video again 👌 new project 🤔?
Yes 😁 ! This is a good one!
Hopefully post part 1 next week.
Well I’m excited for it anyway I don’t know about anyone else 😂
@sprautos Well we will join you with anticipation for part 1 👌
You’ve mastered it. Get shot of the lads. 😂
Waiting for a vide on s class 221 chassis om642 engine
We have covered some
642 jobs On a 211 which will help.
Good video still mate, not easy is it filming on ya own 😏 btw could you have got a longer screw driver for those air boxes 😂😂
I don’t know how you do it !
I was thinking the same about the screw driver when I watched it back 🙈
Great video! If you need to feed the algorithm gods but you don’t have spare hands, could you fix the phone / on a tripod etc and do a Timelapse vid and narrate over it in editing? Quick and dirty!
Yea I could give that a go see what you think.
Nice ride!
Hi mate, just wanted to know whether the sparkplug needed indexing? Enjoyed watching 🙂👍
Just double check spark plug gap and toque and your good to go

I always toque to spec and never had an issue. Neither have I heard of anyone else having problems when torqued.
Serious question, what is the point of clicking the torque wrench 5 times? I see people doing it all the time and cannot fathom why.
Second Q, I heard that it may be necessary to index the spark plugs on an M157?
It’s just a mechanics way of double checking,
We all do it for some reason 😂
Yes plug gaps needs to be spot on
@@sprautos Must be just mechanics, I use a torque wrench regularly and don't follow that practice.
Indexing refers to the orientation of the plug as opposed to the gap. It's something I've heard mentioned on forums and here on YT.
Yes it’s important
Do you fit a complete syspension arm or just the balljoint gaiter?
We would fit a full arm.
Also how would you know of the garage as changed the brake fluid ? Any tips to look out for ! Thank you
Badly worn brake fluid turns burn, fresh is very clear. I suppose one of those pen tester we use are cheap enough to buy off Amazon.
Thank you for your reply

Thanks Sam
Great 👍🏻
Well done with the solo video. Hope you didn't drop anything down where it shouldn't be working single handed!!
Number eight plug had an awful lot of oil on it!
Well spotted 😉
Hardest to reach, maybe someone missed it out at the last change?
Only 130nm for the wheels....My E400 is 150nm!
Is yours a 4 matic ?
