5th wave emo saved my life. a lot of the time i feel really alone… a lot of my friends don’t really talk to me and i just kinda sit alone at home a lot of the time. i’ve felt like this for a little over a year and one thing that has always helped me was 5th wave emo. it’s probably one of the only forms of art that fully can comfort me making me feel like i’m not alone and there’s other people that feel this same way and i feel less lonely (i am sorry if this doesn’t make sense i’m high) but i got to see weatherday live during the summer and it was one of the greatest shows i have ever been to in my life ever. it was kinda like one of those moments you know ur gonna keep in ur life forever. and i’m so glad how accepting the community is it’s literally so awesome and i love everything about it
I've heard glass beach described as fifth wave emo!! I've never personally listened to them but my bestest friend ever adores them :3 All the other bands I ADORE! Hearing birds fear death mentioned is really exciting, as her music was one of the few outlets I had last year to get out all the icky traumatic stuff stored away without actually harming myself. If you like similar dark stuff, try horrormovies!! Their music is way more "scene" and hyperpop-ish but still tackle some yucky dark stuff :3
I love Glass Beach, saw them live in Austin back in 2021 and man that was an awesome show. Met the bassist at the bar and had a short convo since I didn't want to have everyone swarm them but man that was a great show, would recommend their self titled album to anyone looking for some funky emo
Not 100% sure genre-pin wise, but Hey, Ily is a recent one I found that consider themselves emo and definitely have the right sound and lyrical content. Very experimental, a lot more underground, and a bit amateur, but def worth it with the way they balance melody, noise, and otherwise. (:
hey ily is definitely my fav of the genre and what got me into fifth wave, currently working on a video talking about psychokinetic love songs cause that album really resonated with me
epicccccc video. alot of the bands in this scene inspire heavily my own music (though i wouldnt call myself 5th wave really) and also sorta kinda inspired me to make music in the first place so this is a relly good video to describe a really cool sub sub genre to my confused non-emo friendz. ALSO i reccomend these bands/artists: sonhos tomam conta, salem's corydalis, bright little stars, things left, cecily renns, kara's walk home, bigger boot
when you started listing your arms are my cocoon songs for a moment i thought you just threw in a random tidbit about you calling a suicide hotline. oh well
willy rodriguez (specifically wetdream) id say is 5th wave (at a good amount of parts) im not so sure You should listen to it if you want its one of my favorite albums
great video! makes me sad there isnt a lot of content out there about this very specific subsection of music. come in is one of my favorite albums, seeing weatherday live in about a week
Y’all forgot the powerhouse of 5th wave that is LobsterFight, people sleep on them so hard if you haven’t checked em out already you definitely should !
I just went to a YAAMC show. I loved them. I didn't really get the record, but seeing them live made it all click. The screaming all made sense when I experienced the performance irl Seeing Weatherday in a few weeks!
Idk what the waves are or really mean, I'm a noob to the scene on what emo truly is tbh lol. I know American Football drew me in and random Midwest Emo Mixtapes made me stick around. It's been a wild 5 year ride but I really love a lot of what I've heard
Such a cool vid! If anyone wants to experience something new I have been listening to a group of Colombian Emo Revival bands, if you want to check them out there's a group album called "La Nevera En La Sucursal De La Eterna Primavera" which in English means "The Fridge in the Venue of the etern spring", I would also highlight "Veintiséis Calles De Venus" (Twenty-Six streets from Venus) from the band Ortiga, I have yet to explore the other groups that participate in the first album! Have a great day
"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day "Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE
i think the most important part of being 5th wave emo is having a twitter account
They gotta Xeet a lot

I feel like Nouns should be mentioned. They were like a proto-Parannoul in my eyes. They collaborated too!
while of unsound mind reference

Glass Beach made me start questioning my identity big up for Glass Beach

all these artists are peak i did not expect some of these to get mentioned- yaamc and birds fear death are so insanely underrated
if beds are known as place to rest my rest is built on fear
WHEN DID YOU STOP TO ASK IF I

i am in love with you for making this video
when you started listing your arms are my cocoon songs for a moment i thought you just threw in a random tidbit about you calling a suicide hotline. oh well
i remember finding weatherday on a trip to Tennessee and that was a turning point in my life
i saw weatherday live this summer!! She was so fricking good
1:12 "incredibly depressing"! _Brilliant._
you really nailed that last part. alot of ppl see emo as a double-edged sword but i find a lot of comfort and solitude in it
Glass beach and the civil war in france both have a post emo sound
I love home is where so much. I'm so glad to possess a setlist from there first ever headlining show
Thanks for the recommendations, I don't know what I would do without the music.
im so happy that birds fear death gave moreru a feature and made them not just known in japan
willy rodriguez (specifically wetdream) id say is 5th wave (at a good amount of parts) im not so sure You should listen to it if you want its one of my favorite albums
you forgot “sonhos tomam conta”, a brazilian band that is amazing and has collaborated with asian glow and others.
Pronoun-core
Thank you for your contribution

2:24 that's me moshing to birds fear death lmao
can’t wait for the 500 sub special
great video! makes me sad there isnt a lot of content out there about this very specific subsection of music. come in is one of my favorite albums, seeing weatherday live in about a week
I'm pretty sure that Glass Beach is fifth wave emo, I love their first album and I would definitely consider them as fifth wave emo!!
personal favourite in the style of Parannoul and Asian Glow is the project Della Zyr
two albums that are both masterpieces
Y’all forgot the powerhouse of 5th wave that is LobsterFight, people sleep on them so hard if you haven’t checked em out already you definitely should !

Seeing Weatherday in a few weeks!
bro i feel like i just took a whole sheet of acid because i listened to 3 songs by stomach book
I think i found a new niche
Since we’re talking about Emo, second wave was essentially Suburb Punk. Not as a whole but in general
HOME IS WHERE MENTIONED 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

He Was An Artist, She Was A Carpenter is a really good midwest emo band
great video but i was pretty confused cuz brave little abacus, girlfriends and FTtP are not 5th wave and they appeared multiple times in the vid lol
michael cera palin is definitely 4th wave emo, and title fight isn’t even considered emo at all
Hot Mulligan IS POST EMO
