Nielsen's "Audience" should be advertisers and investors. It's numbers have nothing to do with content. Either people are or are not watching. While it's interesting in some sense for the general public to know, it really doesn't matter. Advertisers and investors are and should be cold blooded lizards. "What does my money earn if I spend it on you?"

It's a worthless stat that doesn't mean anything. Wall Street knows this as they are flooded with worthless stats all the time. The only thing these numbers tell us is that Disney owns more distribution channels than anyone else. This is already well know in the media finance world. They know that Disney is the biggest and they also know that Disney is having a lot of trouble. That's why their stock has been going down over the last several years.

Disney doesn’t realize that criticism is healthy because it helps them self correct and produce better products. As long as they shield themselves from criticism, they will continue to produce worse and worse products leading to their company bankruptcy.

I'm from Malaysia, we have a satellite TV here called "Astro" where Disney+ and HBO MAX have signed a contract where these two channels will be included in every TV package we purchase, they also made the same deal with our phone provider here.

Within the context of entertainment honesty would entail, 1. a return to objectivist reporting clearly delineating between truth (that which comports with reality) and opinion. 2. A complete rejection of identity based storytelling which amounts to nothing more than superficiality, hedonism, and solopsistic nihilism at the expense of plot, character development cultural enrichment, etc. 3. Purge all the activists whose poisoned ideology prevents them from speaking or embodying truth. 4. Regect DEI and ESG initiatives. 5. Instruct the professinal liars (actors) to keep their political opinions to themselves with reference to the projects they are working on. 6. Hollywood should admit to their failures and stop gaslighting their paying customers.

It’s ALL interconnected. I think Bob Iger’s intent to run for president is a great example of the incestuous nature of the establishment.

I do want to mention that distribution means only who owns the distribution channel and has nothing to do with the content creator. Any Disney show on youtube would count the distributor as RUclips. This is a must and a certainty. Besides, if what you said was true you would be saying that Disney shows are much more popular than we realize. I think that is extremely unlikely, don't you? Doesn't really matter because the meaning of a distributor is very clear. Anything on youtube is distributed by youtube. And trust me, most people on youtube are NOT watching Disney programs.

Yes, the reason Disney is #1 is because they own more distribution channels than any other company. "Disney" on platforms like RUclips is free advertising. Take the stuff down and how do does anyone know that Disney even exists? Howard Stern went to satellite. Disney on youtube doesn't count in this stat. That premise is wrong to begin with. Anything on youtube is distributed by RUclips and would count for that. Disney owns so many networks and streaming services, it isn't surprising that they have the most viewers overall. They are comparing 30 different channels and services owned by Disney to Netflix which is only one thing. Disney has bought up more than anyone else and Wall Street knows this. Disney's lead should be much bigger, but most people don't watch much of their stuff. Sports is one of their bigger winning areas.

Exactly. Disney bought up a lot of distribution channels and now owns more than any other company by far. Netflix is only Netflix. RUclips is only RUclips. Disney is ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, FX, FXX, Fox Movie channel, Hulu, ESPN+, Disney+, etc, etc, etc as they own many more. With the amount of distribution that Disney owns, they should be much further ahead but people don't want to watch their shows.
From now on we must all grow up. Man up or women up. Take a stand. If you are fed up with the woke garbage you have a decision to make. If you keep watching for any reason then stop complaining. You are the problem. The only thing they will understand is being ignored. No viewership. Period.
They way Disney+ is going-showing inappropriate shows on a safe zone children’s programming platform ( Hulu movies as an example) I am ready to cancel my subscription and subscribe to the RUclips program platform. Disney + is supposed to be a safe place for parents to allow their children to watch. Now they can watch sexual content, bloody violet, adult programs. They are not the product I paid for and once respected. Even their Disney shows are no longer watchable . Something needs to change

Honestly I'm looking into getting an HD antenna for my TV, one of those that goes in the house. My satellite charges extra for local channels but if I spend just a bit on that antenna I'll get them without having to worry about the extra fee PLUS I'll be able to get MeTV Toons which is basically old school Cartoon Network and Boomerang before CN became "Teen Titans GO the channel". I got a low data cap and my ISP is being slow about getting fiber or anything speedy without a data cap out my way so I'm having to make due with satellite and hopefully this antenna to get my stuff. Streaming just isn't in the cards for me for now so Netflix or anything that is streaming bar playing RUclips at the lowest quality for longer videos is right out for me at the moment.
Pro !! Here is my theory for the Acolyte. The main villian Oimir is actually one of the mothers in disguise. She is hiding behind a dathomir force illusion spell. The villain Oimir has no dark side sith eyes, no darkside body corruption, hesitates to harm any of the daughters(even after being betrayed) , heals one of them, and has no sith lighting (far as we know) . Disney star wars is now all about magic/the night sisters/witches of Dathomir(the force is now female). The witches have been known to also have control/balance in the force . Just my theory/opinion. Love this show. I work for Nielsen. "The Gauge" has been in the works for 2 years. To your point about Disney getting the most views on RUclips...that matters. The reason it matters is the ratings determine ad prices. If you are an advertiser wanting to buy ad time on RUclips, it might matter which media company gets the most views when your deciding where you want your ads placed.
Peltz is patiently waiting for the company to hit rock bottom. He'll then move in, buy back his shares, fix the problem, and once again make billions. Peltz isn't in a hurry.
All Disney Star Wars had to do was use the most popular stories from what they now call legends or noncanon, maybe have used Lucas's trilogy idea, then do own thing. They would've likely tripled the IP purchase price by now.

I dont agree with investor being mad at Disney, look inside out 2, yes on Lucas films because it is unable to generate money which means all shows/movies planned by Lucas films will be finanaced by non lucas ilms projects which is a terrible business strategy. May be thats why KK is head of Lucas films since Disney cant fire her, they put her head of something which is already dying.

Tubi has LOT of content that used to be on Netflix and other services. A lot of low grade stuff, but also a lot of diamond in the rough indie films and series. The library on Tubi is comparable to what Netflix had before the streaming wars

They always go for copyrights, but these stats have nothing to do with people watching Disney shows on youtube. Anything watched on youtube would count RUclips as the distributor and not Disney. People watching youtube are hardly ever watching Disney shows. The idea put forth is wrong anyway, but it would actually suggest the Disney content is far more popular than we believe. That isn't true, but not sure why anyone here would even want to suggest it.

Inside OUt 2 officially at a billion, now can Disney's other three movies this year p reach that milestone? A Moana movie that is basically Atlantis II with the music of the Hunchback sequel. Mufasa prequel which, Im niot sure online discourse is a clear indicator that folks won't show up.
Movies are not great business even if they do well. The reality is, these companies made most of their revenues and profits from cable tv. The death of cable tv is their biggest problem. They hoped streaming would help them, but they have failed miserably. These companies are happy if their movies break even, they don't expect much profit. They are ridiculously expensive and take years to make. They're hoping they will help them sell merchandise and streaming subscriptions. Disney will need to start making popular shows everywhere to start getting customers back. Yes, they can't afford to lose 100s of millions on every film and they have taken steps towards that by cancelling many movie projects. They mostly will probably only be putting out movies with much better chance of success, but still that basically means breaking even. They need to sell more subscriptions and become loved again to get people to want to buy their merchandise and come to their parks.

The only reason why I wanted Disney plus was to Watch Darkwing Duck, I did the smart thing and just bought the DVDs, haven't sent back to Disney plus since.
I feel like Disney is just bullying us at this point.
They need to just realise that the the top 2 or 3 streamers won scrap the rest and send it back to normal cable and the cinema and save the both and maybe Hollywood at the same time.
Cable tv is going away. It's already a done deal, no reason for anyone to talk about it. It declines every year and the amount it declines is growing every year. Even worse, most of the people who still have cable tv are 60 and above. No young people watch it. And 40% of people who still have cable tv say they want to get rid of it, but are stuck in a bundle deal that would make it more expensive if they dropped cable tv. People are already watching streaming about twice as much as linear tv and the gap increases every year.
