I lived in Aus for ten years and just rode motorbikes. Last one was a Triumph Sprint RS in yellow. Oh those hot hot days. I remember all that sweating at lights, waiting to get going so I could get that wind to cool down. Back in Canada now and own a Speed Twin. Love it, bar the lack of self cancelling turn signals and mediocre front suspension. And even in Canada I do notice the heat coming off the engine in summer.
Regardless of the riding mode it's in, when the TC is activated the ecu backs it off quite a bit. The bar end mirrors are factory. I have the same bike in Storm Grey. With the baffles pulled out of the mufflers it sounds even better. He calls the lightest, highest power Twin Triumph makes, and old man's bike? With the TC off in sport mode, it's more than enough power for the average rider. Top speed is around 150 with the factory transmission gearing after an ecu flash.
@@jockd7 Here in the states its mph. Triumph claims 130 as top speed. What's crazy is that my bike is still pulling HARD at 125+mph with the factory tune. With the mods I've done it should hit 140+ with a custom ECU tune. The bike still has less than 1000mi. on it, and I've not redlined it once yet. After she rolls over 1k. I'm gonna flash the ECU and then just let her eat!
@@andrewbecker3700 Does the ecm default to a setting when the bike is restarted ? Eg: if you have the bike in sport mode with TC off, does it stay there when the bike is turned off/on ? thx.
What are your thoughts on a head to head comparison between the XSR900 & the Speed Twin 1200? I am really interested in both, fo different reasons. Would love your viewpoint having ridden both.
Lol absolutely same situation over here. I actually want to end up getting both. Quickshifter and cruise control are a big plus on the Yamaha. Triumph has more character. Both are great.
Well they are very different bikes but both of them are amazing in their own ways, biggest difference I noticed is the triumph is allot more fun to cruise around on as the xsr is more fun for spirited riding
the new xsr has more power, electronics, quick shifter etc and its much cheaper than the speed twin, their in different categories but if i had to choose personally i would pick the new xsr
I found it quite nice to ride, i suppose such a short ride you wouldnt really notice something like that, im sure if i rode it allot longer over time youd start noticing those little things
@@dezmotos Maybe it'll wear in...people say the gearbox is smooth (now they've fixed 6th exploding) though not Japanese, nor is it BMW/Guzzi. So a positive change then, good.
Can hear it clunk into 3rd especially, but then most do it, my Thruxton certainly does, even when many vloggers don't mention it. The downshifts can be smoothed out by properly timed rev matching.
To be honest this was a dealers bike so I didn’t give it enough throttle to find out, from what I saw though it pulls very hard haha and doesn’t really have the twitchy throttle that the xsr has so feels allot smoother
Nice review. Not to be too pedantic, but, if you're reviewing bikes, I think it's important to give the correct information. You said the XSR900 "in terms of torque, beats it" however, it does not, the 2023 XSR900 makes 92.19nm and the Speed Twin makes 112nm, and the ST makes it lower in the rev range. Those mirrors and gas cap are also stock. You said this bike was decatted, but it doesn't sound like it... sounds pretty stock, though it looks like it has the original mufflers. I have a decatted Thruxton RS, the most recent vid on my channel. Same torque as the Speed Twin, but more HP.
Hi mate, no i appreciate the input, it encourages me to make my content better 👍yeah i think what i probably meant to say was the xsr feels like it has more because the bikes wheel base is much shorter and its wheelie happy, the street is a bit lower and longer so it doesnt feel like the front wants to come up as much

Loved the review. I got the impression the bike was growing on you as the ride went on which is a good omen for someone considering buying one.

Rode my nephew’s car the other day. Great bike, yes quicker, different, but the Speediest is more than a cafe race!
I ride daily and I'm seeing a lot more Triumphs than Harleys here in San Diego.
I can mostly hear the clunky gearbox...smooth you say? Certainly not snicky.

Mirrors are standard.
How is the acceleration on this versus your XSR?

Nice, I will subscribe!
Thanks my guy 👍
In the title, you should specify if it was the Speed Twin 900 or Speed Twin 1200, two different bikes.
Good point I’ll suss that out 👍
That is the 1200
Just by looking at it at the beginning of the video, it is obviously a Speed Twin 1200. The two bikes look nothing alike.
Yes we all know, just helping DEZ get better search results
Those are standard speed twin mirrors and they suck. After a month my left one started flopping around. Replaced both with rizoma.
13000 km and 15 months on mine. Mirrors and everything else perfect. Mods - meerkat exhaust, new intake and sports filter…etc etc. great machine
Same here. 27 mods and the mirrors are fine.
