80s movies... Teen Witch, Breakfast Club, 16 candles, Goonies, Weird Science, Ferris Buller's day off, Dirty Dancing, The never-ending story, Princess Bride, Twins. omg so many great movies.
Comedy Tom Hanks 'Bachelor Party'. "Let's have a bachelor party with chicks and guns and fire trucks and hookers and drugs and booze!" Obscure Eddie Murphy 'The Golden Child'. "I want the knife. Please." Underrated Buddy Cops 'Running Scared'. "Deceleration trauma. Cement poisoning." Fall of the Iron Curtain foreshadowing 'White Nights' 'Blade Runner' wins.
Back to the Future, Footloose, Sixteen Candles, the Breakfast Club, Top Gun, Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, All the Right Moves, Howard the Duck, Stand By Me, Porky’s, Spaceballs, Real Genius, The Goonies, Trading Places, Batman, Better Off Dead, Say Anything, One Crazy Summer,
Killer Klowns from Outer Space!!!!! Man it frightened me so much as a child. Need to have an entire episode dedicated to 80’s Horror! And not just the mainstream ones either but some of the niche ones like Killer Klowns.
As a person born in 74, I kind of understand what Joe means. The first movie I definitely remember seeing in the theater was Return of the Jedi in 1983 when I was 8 years old.
Eddie and the Cruisers!! The Land Before Time! Weekend At Bernie’s! Willow! Short Circuit! The Shining! The Brave Little Toaster! So many great movies!
My favorite movie of all time is The Outsiders! Then like Jayse my other picks would be Heathers, Some kind of Wonderful, Dream a little dream, Pretty in pink, but I also loved Cobra and Predator,Die Hard,The Burbs and The lost boys The 80’s were the best ever.
I was born in 71 and there are SO MANY movies that I could name here that didn't get mentioned and that have a special place in my heart... movies like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The 'Burbs, Re-Animator, Summer School, The Money Pit, Bachelor Party, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Pretty in Pink, Weekend at Bernie's, The Gate, The Keep, Night of the Creeps, The Blob, Hellraiser, Legend, Lifeforce, Videodrome, House 1+2, Night of the Living Dead (Remake), The Last Starfighter, Buckaroo Banzai, Explorers, Escape from New York, The Fog and so many more.
I'm with Jayse on this. Name my #1 singular top of the pile favorite 80s movie? Don't make me choose. Between Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Space Balls, Stand By Me, Breakfast Club, Back to the Future, Labyrinth, Lost Boys, Willow, Highlander, Neverending Story, The Last Unicorn, Footloose, The Karate Kid, Trains, Plains, and Automobiles, They Live, Police Academy....
John Hughes movies did not get enough attention on this episode. Also Legend, Blues Brothers, Revenge of the Nerds, Terminator, Rain Man, and Spaceballs are a must watch
I'm proud to say I've been to a drive-in movie theater! It was one the last times I visited my aunt and uncle when they lived in Bakersfield. I was about 12-years-old at the time. It was a double-feature of Escape from New York and Escape from L.A. We laid down in the back of my uncle's pick-up, and as a result, I eventually fell asleep. It's a fond memory I'll never forget.
I thoroughly empathize with Jayce, there is no way I would be able to narrow my list down to 3! The longer I think about it, the more movies get added on!
All of the Indiana Jones and anything by John Hughes! But also a super weird one, thought of this one after remembering Big Trouble in Little China…Howard the Duck 😂and also War Games!
Real Genius is a hilarious and funny movie. Tom Hanks was in his early 30’s in Big. Some of my favorite 80’s movies are Platoon, born on the 4th of July, the Outsiders, Solar Babies, Dead Poets Society, the lost boys, the goonies, weird science, ghostbusters, stand by me, and bill and Ted’s excellent adventure, Young Guns.
I posted something a week or so ago about the range of reactors you have at the moment and this is a prime example of my meaning. In a podcast about 80's movies you don't have a single GenX reactor, who actually llived through it at an age to really experience these movies. So my question is, what gives? I know we're sometimes refered to as the Forgotten Generation but you used to have quite a few older reactors. Either way, I really enjoyed the discussion and would like to recommend some films that weren't mentioned... Stripes, Ladyhawke, Blade Runner, Amadeus, Full Metal Jacket, The Blues Brothers, The Elephant Man, Repo Man, Brazil and Police Academy.
Ok Jayce makes so much sense to me now. That’s my dude. But everyone’s stock has gone way up. Beetlejuice is one of my all time favs, mannequin is peak 80’s, The Last Dragon?! Let’s Go!!
Joe and Jayce love you guys. You mention movies that were some of my favorites as I was growing up like Last Dragon and Val Kilmer in Real Genius. I have been taking care of kids for 29 years and every time I mention movies I love they look at me like I'm the weirdest person in the room. So thank you because many times I watch your videos and you mention certain movies and other stuff and the other members have no clue what you talking about I get it everytime
Ghostbusters trivia: the camp that Dan Ackroyd mentioned in Ghostbusters regarding the staypuft marshmallow man actually exists, it is a girls camp outside of Kingston Ontario near where Dan lives. Dan is from Kingston Ontario. I only learned this bit of trivia when I went to a training camp at Camp Oconto. When I was at Queens University Dan used to hang around at a bar popular with students called the Trash.
a 1980's movie that everyone forgets about and is on my top list is "The Man With the One Red Shoe" Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Jim Belushi, Lori Singer to name just a few of the actors in this great comedy movie...and if that catches your attention you can then go to "Bachelor Party"...again with Tom Hanks in the lead
The guys nailed it on the first movies. Both are great choices. Ladies, I'm questioning your involvement in an 80s movie podcast not knowing those two. Especially not knowing Val Kilmer. 7:50
*the twilight zone movie, flight of the navigator, willow, neverending story, alien nation, back to the future III are my favs off the top of my head, some of the best!*
This was a fun episode Beba was SAVAGE in this one Sabrina was gorgeous and extra points for liking Horror Extra extra points for Beetlejuice Jayse and Joe were always cool Thanks for the laughs
This has got to be one of my favorite episodes ever!! I am an 84 baby and this was just such a walk down memory lane. So fun to watch, Sabrina you killed it 🙌 and Jayce I’m still getting used to your short hair 😂😂
This may my favorite of their podcast thus far, and I liked pretty much all of them. But this one was right up my alley, and I'm much older than all of them, so I was always in the movie theaters and drive-ins in the 80's. I absolutely loved the 80's...movies, music, vibe, fashion. I loved the last dragon as well, saw it in theaters. I knew all the lines in that movie!! I also loved almost all of Molly Ringwald's movies, like: The breakfast club, 16 candles, Pretty in pink, and more! Also, The Lost boys, Weird Science, ET, Ghostbusters franchise, Beverly Hills cop franchise, St. Elmore's fire, About last night, movies were just better then.
"Real Genius" was great! I saw it in the theatre around my 10th birthday. I introduced it to my (now) wife years ago. It still gets quoted around the house. "Return to Oz" was another in the theatre experience for me. Loved it. Not the weirdest Oz movie I've seen.
I’m surprised no one brought up Hellraiser, Critters, Ghoulies, Weird Science, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Revenge of the Nerds, and real niche Porky’s and Meatballs.
Love that All dogs go to Heaven was mentioned and am so happy to see so many others that live The Lost Boys!!! I have a movie poster signed by all the cast members and it is one of my greatest treasures!
Flight of the Dragans, The Empire Strikes back, Aliens, Predator, Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, The Golden Child, The Breakfast Club, Killer Clowns from Outerspace, Innerspace,Twins, and Do The Right Thing !
Pumpkinhead, The Thing, Killer Klowns of Outer Space, Neverending Story, E.T., Labyrinth, Adventures of Babysitting, Mannequin, Heathers, etc. I could go on forever honestly with every genre. Best era by far
My 80's Movies: "The Lost Boys" was the first horror movie I watched. Tom Hanks movies: "Big", "Splash", "The Burbs", also "Heathers", "Adventures In Babysitting", "Nightmare On Elm Street", Kristy Swanson movies: "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "Deadly Friend", "Flowers In The Attic", Molly Ringwald movies: "Sixteen Candles", "The Breakfast Club", "For Keeps".. so many more!
So fun!!! As a child of the 80s this was great - perfect crew to discuss (Joe gets special recognition) - got to share two of my 80s movies- Rambo First Blood & Purple Rain ; Tom Hanks was 32 when Big was released
This was FABulous. My favourite movies from the 80's are generally music/dance movies - Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Flashdance, Grease 2 (IMHO better than 1), Fame ... 80's movies are generally my favourite overall so many classics.
the first movie I ever went to see in theaters by myself was Willow, I was 8. The movie I rented over and over the most was Gremlins, and I went as Beetlejuice twice as a Halloween costume, and I wrote a letter to Michael Keeton when I was 10.
Here is a suggestion for a topic... How about, how would you build out a triple feature? Not necessarily sticking with 80's movies, although that would be a difficulty setting. One rule to keep in mind, no trilogies or related movies in the mix. You can't put Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2 in. For example... If you are doing a triple feature of spoof movies - 1)Airplane, 2) Top Secret (Val Kilmer's first movie) 3) Hot Shots Part Deux. Sword and Sorcery movies - 1) Sword and the Sorceror, 2) Beastmaster 3) Conan the Destroyer 80's Sci Fi - 1) Aliens 2) Terminator 2 3) The Abyss Try it with buddy cop movies, 80's coming of age movies, westerns, war movies, etc.
18:14 100% the majority of my movie experience in the 80s was watching my dad’s large collection of recorded movies on VHS tapes (with a couple drive ins). Theater experiences were in the 90s.
Born in 1964, but also a Generation Xer and my top 5 all time favorite 80's movies are: Stand By Me, The Goonies, The Lost Boys, The Monster Squad and Willow. In 1978 I went to a drive in in South Carolina and saw GREASE. I believe that is the only time I went to a drive in movie. I was known as THE SOUNDTRACK GIRL for a long time at my jobs and the kids I took care of, because I still have epic soundtracks on CD to this day. Some were imported from different countries from Ebay and they include The Neverending Story II-The Next Chapter from Germany and Bugsy Malone from England. LOL.
I loved that he mentioned Real Genius. I have that movie on DVD and I remember decades ago when it was on digital cable and I still lived with my parents and it was on, I liked it and still think it’s hilarious. I love that Jayce mentioned Flight of the Navigator. 😊
Great episode! Mannequin 2 is one of my all time faves! The song at the end is iconic. Love hearing it every time they play it on our local radio station here in the Bay. Also, they still have some drive-in movie theaters up here called Westwind.
7:30 I'm a 62 y.o. man who STILL watches it, any time I see it on! Lol Me and my oldest son in law. One of us will call the other and say, Did you see the Last Dragon was on last night? And not only the cheesy graphics for "the glow" but the glow rap!
As far as 80s soundtracks and scores, Batman had both. You had Danny Elfman doing the score, a major 80s icon singer/songwriter. And then they had Prince, one of the kings of pop/rock.I owned both back in the day and saw it twice in theaters. I saw the movie on a Thursday night opening preview, waited in line to get tickets, and then showed up nearly two hours before the movie started to wait in line to get in. Best movie ever. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DIDN'T TALK ABOUT BATMAN!!
OMG! Real Genius! Fantastic movie! Hmmm it sounds like you guys need to do a reaction channel where you watch all of these movies together for those of you who haven't seen some of the movies you mentioned. :)
Strange Brew, Airplane!, Blues Brothers, Weird Science, Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, Glory, Lean on Me, Clue, Witness and Commando were not mentioned in this video
Joe and Jayce got the best choices. The Last Dragon and Real Genius are gold. Add Big Trouble in Little China and you got a perfect trio.
Real genius is so awesome I can't even...
Love real genius
SHO NUFF!! LOL ❤❤❤❤
The girl with the green eyes!!!
I want 90s movies now !!! And 00s later !!!!
80s movies... Teen Witch, Breakfast Club, 16 candles, Goonies, Weird Science, Ferris Buller's day off, Dirty Dancing, The never-ending story, Princess Bride, Twins. omg so many great movies.

I miss video stores, man. So much nostalgia walking up and down the aisles looking at all the covers.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space!!!!! Man it frightened me so much as a child. Need to have an entire episode dedicated to 80’s Horror! And not just the mainstream ones either but some of the niche ones like Killer Klowns.

Jayse and Beba asking about Newsies! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you! Just keep hounding Kevin about it, guys! Maybe one day....

John Hughes movies did not get enough attention on this episode. Also Legend, Blues Brothers, Revenge of the Nerds, Terminator, Rain Man, and Spaceballs are a must watch
Legend and Rain Man are the ONLY 2 Tom Cruise movies I like. Legend is one of my all time favourites!
I can’t believe nobody mentioned Willow especially when talking about Kilmer. One of my 80’s favs…so so funny
Yeah, for real. Jayse did mention Willow in his quick fire list near the end, however.
Val Kilmer in Real Genius is great. Great pick Joe.
I'm proud to say I've been to a drive-in movie theater! It was one the last times I visited my aunt and uncle when they lived in Bakersfield. I was about 12-years-old at the time. St Elmo's Fire; Some Kind of Wonderful; Escape from New York; The Outsiders; Dead Poet's Society; Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Real Genius is one of my all-time favorite movies! Another one is the classic Ladyhawke.
I thoroughly empathize with Jayce, there is no way I would be able to narrow my list down to 3!
The longer I think about it, the more movies get added on!
Batman, Weird Science, Back to School, Weekend at Bernie's, Ferris Beuller's day off, Purple Rain and The little Mermaid!
Joe knows what’s up!!! The last crusade is hands down the best Indy movie
Back to The Future franchise is my all time favorite movies so it's Back to The Future the first one
Right even tho the third one came out in 1990 it was filmed after the second one!
For me, it's the second
Princess Bride, Labyrinth, Dirty Dancing, War Games!!!
Ok Jayce makes so much sense to me now. That’s my dude. But everyone’s stock has gone way up. Beetlejuice is one of my all time favs, mannequin is peak 80’s, The Last Dragon?! Let’s Go!!

I'm gonna go niche. Howard the Duck, Trancers, Big Trouble in Little China

12:55 OK Joe is not lying about the double VCR 😂. My family did it too growing up 👀
Do this for the 70's and 90's. There are so many good and wild movies worth talking about.
Soundtrack movies...Top Gun, Footloose, The Breakfast Club, Dirty Dancing, Beverly Hills Cop
Real Genius is one of the movies that SHAPED my sense of humor. Watching it is... a moral imperative.
I love Return to Oz! So glad it was mentioned it's so underrated
Flight of the Dragans, The Empire Strikes back, Aliens, Predator, Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, The Golden Child, The Breakfast Club, Killer Clowns from Outerspace, Innerspace,Twins, and Do The Right Thing

It is INCONCEIVABLE to me that “The Princess Bride” was only mentioned in passing…. Thank You Jayse! It is my very favorite movie of all time ❤
So fun!!! As a child of the 80s this was great - perfect crew to discuss (Joe gets special recognition) - got to share two of my 80s movies- Rambo First Blood & Purple Rain ; Tom Hanks was 32 when Big was released
Empire Strikes Back, Batman, The Natural...too many to name, but I always get nostalgic when The Goonies are on.
This was FABulous. My favourite movies from the 80's are generally music/dance movies - Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Flashdance, Grease 2 (IMHO better than 1), Fame ... 80's movies are generally my favourite overall so many classics.
Top Secret! - UHF - Cloak and Dagger
the first movie I ever went to see in theaters by myself was Willow, I was 8. The movie I rented over and over the most was Gremlins, and I went as Beetlejuice twice as a Halloween costume, and I wrote a letter to Michael Keeton when I was 10.
Jayse has peak taste in movies. They all shied away from epic war movies but, Born on the Fourth of July and Full Metal Jacket deserve a shout out.
For Beverly Hills Cop:Axel F, Joe was thinking of Judge Reinhold
The drive in from the movie The Outsiders was where I always went to when I was a kid. Saw Jurassic Park there.
E.T. released in theaters June 11, 1982.
American Werewolf in London, Weird Science, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Cujo.

18:14 100% the majority of my movie experience in the 80s was watching my dad’s large collection of recorded movies on VHS tapes (with a couple drive ins). Theater experiences were in the 90s.
Omg, just made it to the end and 100% agree with Sabrina about Psycho II. It’s so good!!!!
The Last Starfighter is my niche pick
Val Kilmer's first movie was also a comedy, Top Secret! (1984)
nobody talked about The Last Unicorn, and I feel like not a lot of people do, and that's a crime
Yeah that would have been one of mine. Lol
Born in 1964, but also a Generation Xer and my top 5 all time favorite 80's movies are: Stand By Me,
The Goonies, The Lost Boys, The Monster Squad and Willow. In 1978 I went to a drive in in South Carolina
and saw GREASE. I believe that is the only time I went to a drive in movie.
I was known as THE SOUNDTRACK GIRL for a long time at my jobs and the kids I took care of, because
I still have epic soundtracks on CD to this day. Some were imported from different countries from Ebay and
they include The Neverending Story II-The Next Chapter from Germany and Bugsy Malone from England. LOL.
Willow? You are strange. And never heared about Monster Squad.
I love how much Jayse was an overachiever with making such a long list! Honestly, I would done the same thing!
I loved that he mentioned Real Genius.
I have that movie on DVD and I remember decades ago when it was on digital cable and I still lived with my parents and it was on, I liked it and still think it’s hilarious.
I love that Jayce mentioned Flight of the Navigator. 😊
7:13 ngl this makes so much sense on how cultured jayce is 😭😭
I, like Joe, got Spaceballs so quick! I flippin' love _anything_ that breaks the fourth wall! I can't tell you how many times I watched it growing up!
I love 80's thrasher movies. Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, etc.
Freddy is my love lol
Karate Kid, Goonies, Krull, Over The Top, Ghost Busters, Back to The Future
Great episode! Mannequin 2 is one of my all time faves! The song at the end is iconic. Love hearing it every time they play it on our local radio station here in the Bay. Also, they still have some drive-in movie theaters up here called Westwind.
The Princess Bride is one of my favs.
Never ending story, krull, Willow, The Monster Squad, The lost Boys, Goonies,
Weird Science
I am with you Jow Real Genius is a pretty darn good movie! "Kent have you been playing with yourself?"
Real Genius was awesome but I have to go along with you Jayse. The Last Dragon ... Sho Nuff! 6:39 Sorry brother but the line is, "Who is the master"
Tom Hanks was actually 31 years old when he made BIG. He had that "young look" throughout the start of his career.
E.T. is my all time favorite 80s movies. Then a couple honorable mentions Reanimator, Motel Hell, Sleepaway Camp, and Gremlins!
Princess Bride! The Neverending Story! The Boy Who Could Fly! Honey I Shrunk the Kids!
"Is Sigourney Weaver also Geena Davis?" Why does that make so much sense in an insane way?
I enjoyed this topic, and this episode has made me a fan. 😊🎉
The last Crusade was about finding the holy Grail. The Kalima is the Temple of Doom where they rip hearts out.
Excalibur, The Empire Strikes Back, Footloose, Can't Buy Me Love are my 80s favorites...
The Last Dragon was the life then finding Treasure...Goonie for life!
I can't believe there was no mention of Short Circuit or Short Circuit 2
7:30 I'm a 62 y.o. man who STILL watches it, any time I see it on! Lol Me and my oldest son in law. One of us will call the other and say, Did you see the Last Dragon was on last night? And not only the cheesy graphics for "the glow" but the glow rap!

Splash, Dead Poets Society, Legend, Weird Science, Revenge of the Nerds Weekend at Bernies.
Strange Brew, Airplane!, Blues Brothers, Weird Science, Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, Glory, Lean on Me, Clue, Witness and Commando were not mentioned in this video
“What a bunch of Hosers, eh?!?” 😂
Geena Davis said she wasn’t in the new Beetlejuice because ghosts don’t age and she has 😂
With the hat and Vader mask, Joe looked like Aniken grew up building and driving Nascar instead of pod racers.
Heathers is one of my 80s peak
I always like Jayce but now I love him for picking The Last Dragon!
Joe and Jayse 1st choice of 80's Movies were so great and awesome!
Best sick movie as a kid was The Princess Bride!!
Always a great movie.
I would love to see you guys talk about 80s and 90s sitcoms
Yes!! That would be great!
Ah, Jayse, fellow '83 baby! Now I'm just wondering which month!
