I love all the pop culture references in this. I've seen video games referenced with Dark Souls, Castlevania, Portal, and Half-Life style quotes, classic cartoons via the Looney Tunes directors Tex Avery and Chuck Jones' names, Hannah-Barbera in the ensemble cast of animal pals with wacky hijinks, and the style of the oldest models are very pre-golden age Disney. The idea of using a restaurant in this way is fascinating with how they incorporated it into their storyline. I actually really like this sci-fi/horror combo, especially when tied with something seemingly just fun and upbeat. I do understand the repetitive bits, but I enjoyed how they made each section different. I personally liked that. There was tension and an effective jumpscare or two. I think the whole game, though it did take a wild turn, didn't go too far off rails and get so repetitive it made me -someone just watching - irritated or completely confused. They're the ones either ordering for a bunch of people, are deciding what they want *at* the menu, or both at the same time (a car full of people who don't know what they want is the ultimate hold up the line combo).
@Harrison Drews I mean... Yes and no. You should have a pretty damn good idea of what you want before you get there. If it's a chain restaurant, how often do they change their menu, really? And if there is some new item you *know* about it.

Even if I wanted a car I could not afford it on my salary and since I live in a cheep apartment complex without any free parking spots, I would have the inconvenience of having to pay to park which given the city I live in isn’t cheep.
I mean I agree for the most part. Cars are only really required when you have kids aswell. Or possibly a wife but that's dependent on the women. But when kids get involved it's almost impossible to live comfortably without a vehicle. Even if you don't use it every day

The sound cue for getting a message on the game is very similar to the Tinder sound effect for getting a match. What a roller coaster of emotions I went through the first time it played.
I know you weren't too crazy about this one, but I really enjoyed it. "What's wrong with onions" Unless you're like me and allergic :( I like how calm and cool you are, I'm so tired of gameplays of people being loud and screaming, subbed!
I'm rewatching this and I had a hold up issue at Chick-fil-a. I asked for a bun less number two and the woman couldn't comprehend my request no matter how loudly, slowly, and clearly I said: "No buns." I still got buns despite my diet restriction.
Yeah I feel really torn about John's food rants. On the one hand, I agree because I'm also very frustrated by people who refuse to eat something because they disliked eating it once 10 years ago, but on the other hand I feel really bad for the picky eaters out there who just can't get down foods with certain textures or tastes. I'm generally not picky and I'll try pretty much anything but there are still foods I avoid like the plague because they just make me want to throw up. I've also known multiple people with autism and one with OCD who have no control over their pickiness. It's unfair to chastise people without knowing why they do what they do but _woooow_ it grinds my gears when a bratty, picky eater thinks their taste should never be challenged and expects the world to bend to their will
@@yurifairy2969 you want him to quit stating his opinion because of something that has nothing to do with autism? The vast majority of picky eaters aren’t autistic and it absolutely is not “insensitive” for finding it annoying when people take off any vegetables on their burgers. I think it’s a little obtuse to have an issue with something that very clearly isn’t a problem.
@@treywilliams5163 It's still unnecessarily rude of him to judge people on stuff like that since plenty of people have good reason not to eat certain things. He talks like he's never heard of food allergies before.

I don't get a chance to stop by your streams that often (I hope to change that!) so when you make videos from streams or just record longer videos it makes me so happy! I can't tell you how many times I've watched the entirety of your Tormented Souls video, it's one of my most recent favorites! I really enjoyed your playthrough of this, it's crazy to see how far Scythe Dev Team has come! I also loved your playthroughs of the Northbury Grove games so I was pumped to see this! One of my favorite parts was your Bon Jovi comment for the background music, I would've never made that connection but it was so true! 😆 So tl:dr: thanks so much for the long upload, John. Always looking forward to what you do next! 😊
So happy when I saw almost THREE HOURS of a new video!! :D The parts taking place in the restaurant (the duties there and the getting the orders served) was my favorite part for sure (my Diner Dash background embedded too deep in me lol) and the simulation stuff isn't really my cup of tea, but I appreciate the developers' creativity in how they fleshed out the game around it, I definitely wasn't expecting the spin they put on it or all the lore from a humble little burger game. It helped set it apart from the other customer service job games and they were obviously having a lot of fun with the concept with all the memeing they're doing in the loading screens lol

I love these long videos. They always make me feel so much better after a crappy day. Watching John's videos is like comfort food for me
It's so nice John actually plays games until the end. Not many RUclipsrs do that anymore so I really appreciate your effort here John!
I kept seeing so many RUclipsrs play this and I waited hoping you would as well. I’m so glad you did! Thank you for the video John!
It's crazy to see how far this game has come! i remember the original demo, I think it was literally just a shift at work and nothing else
I don't mind John's new formats, but I'd love if he did more of these longplays, or even full games in multiple parts like the old days.
Just say you don’t like these short 20 min videos. If you don’t tell him he won’t know to change for his audience.
The sound cue for getting a message on the game is very similar to the Tinder sound effect for getting a match. What a roller coaster of emotions I went through the first time it played.
I know you weren't too crazy about this one, but I really enjoyed it. Often times when you're playing one of these long indie horror games there's some puzzle part that you figure out that I probably never would have without help, but this one seemed more my speed for gameplay/difficulty, and I'll probably be checking it out myself. Thanks for uploading!

This jumspcared me (and clearly John too) harder than anything else in the entire game XD
Yes! I love Happy's Humble Burger Farm and I'm thrilled you're playing it
The ding ding noise sounds almost like the noise that happens before an announcement on a flight.
I can't help but laugh at the fact John was blissfully unaware that he was being chased down by a giant killer fish out for blood.
Was curious if John would be interested in this, kinda excited to see him play it
As someone with dietary restrictions, it takes me about 2 seconds to order but the people TAKING the order always act like I’ve spoken another language and have no clue what to do, lol. I guess that’s why it takes longer sometimes. Amazing video as always John!!
Thanks for the upload John!
The art in the manual is so cute
Toe seems like he’d be best friends with the character Finger from Dragon Raja.
John's rage towards breaking a plate really gave me a laugh thanks for that
This feels like the old days, I love, love, LOVE this kind of content! Especially the longer playthroughs, thanks for the great stuff.
before you played this, i already watched some other creators video and i have to say.. your commentary and playthrough is always a different league and experience. nothing against anyone of course but your serious-not-serious gameplay just adds a lighthearted but still immersing feel to any game. thanks as always!
While I usually only watch playthroughs of these kinds of horror games, I rarely play them. This one was the exception, it looked TOO fun. I picked it up on the Switch and had an absolute blast with it, definitely a winner in my book. Glad to see you play it John, I hope you had fun!
omg, almost a three hour long video, that's amazing! thank you, John c:
Dude I've been waiting for you to do this!! It's friggin awesome man! I've watched Cjugames finish it and it's a ton of fun. I'm def gonna have fun watching you do it as well my friend! Good luck!
The boss battles are epic, can't wait to hear your reaction.
v.i.c:*Does his best to help John escape from the fabricated reality. All he wants is to be remembered*
John:"Who are you?"
((I love john and this just got me to laugh))
this game gives me a creepy vibe, man this is what modern horror games are missing, not full of jumpscares but the world itself is creepy and you get the feeling that youre in the world
okay just watched the full vid, the second half was boring, should have just been the resturang thing with the mystery of the boss and toe etc...
toe is genuinely one of my favorite video game characters. first time i saw him, i just got so attached and that just grew when i saw what happened to him
I've had my eye on this game, I've been wanting to play it but was waiting for you to play it, it looks great

Sorry I felt left out.
When are you going to make an appearance?
@@Nyctonaut why?
This really captures the anxiety of working fast food perfectly.
"What's wrong with onions"
Unless you're like me and allergic :(
I like how calm and cool you are, I'm so tired of gameplays of people being loud and screaming, subbed!
I'm rewatching this and I had a hold up issue at Chick-fil-a. I asked for a bun less number two and the woman couldn't comprehend my request no matter how loudly, slowly, and clearly I said: "No buns." I still got buns despite my diet restriction.
I love how very personal and intense John's distaste towards picky eaters is haha. Who hurt you, John?!
As an extremely picky eater, I just know John would hate me if I went to dinner with him lol
Same af
Yeah I feel really torn about John's food rants. On the one hand, I agree because I'm also very frustrated by people who refuse to eat something because they disliked eating it once 10 years ago, but on the other hand I feel really bad for the picky eaters out there who just can't get down foods with certain textures or tastes. I'm generally not picky and I'll try pretty much anything but there are still foods I avoid like the plague because they just make me want to throw up. I've also known multiple people with autism and one with OCD who have no control over their pickiness. It's unfair to chastise people without knowing why they do what they do but _woooow_ it grinds my gears when a bratty, picky eater thinks their taste should never be challenged and expects the world to bend to their will
it's a little insensitive towards people on the autism spectrum as well, really wish he would cut it out with the food bits
As a fructose intolerant person, I’m feeling attacked over this no onion business XD
I truly appreciate how you don’t have ads after the beginning. Truly an amazing man that doesn’t break immersion, even with the bad games.
Lol, at 2:00:00 if you looked behind you, you would have seen a giant Salmon pursuing you. It ate and killed you the first time.
OH SHIT! The whole thing in one go?! Niiiice
I saw your tweet about the doofus who thought this being an almost 3 hour video was not the right move. Well I don't know what crawled up his butt, I love your long uploads!
So tl:dr: thanks so much for the long upload, John. Always looking forward to what you do next! 😊
This game make me laugh when you throw the bag at the customers
I love long John play throughs I’ll finish this in one sitting
1:08:27 aaaaand:
"One.... Two.... Three... It looks like you're in Silent Hill, Son."
so excited to see you playing this game!!
Been loving the longplays - It's always nice to sit down and experience a whole game with John!
The tapes in Toe's room are called "Flowers for Toe"!! How dare they make that reference 😭
It helped set it apart from the other customer service job games and they were obviously having a lot of fun with the concept with all the memeing they're doing in the loading screens lol
oh YESSSSSS!!!! i'm so happy to see you play this, i love this game and it's a pleasure to finally see you play it too!
… anatomically correct chicken in some ways…
Killed me 1:56:13
Yay! Longer videos are always my favorite! Thank you John for EVERYTHING you do. I appreciate it and you will always have support from me.
John saying "Oh my!" has just made my day.
So glad you're finally playing it! It's such an interesting game that has so many cool secrets!

John: Guess I’ll get started with my next shift
Toe: huh-huh!
