hey i used to think ff8 was great. it was the first ff i played when i was 10 years old. I then later replayed it when i was in my 20s and realized how aweful it was.
Damn I can remember sneaking into my dads bedroom when he thought I was asleep and hiding under the table to see him play this. The music, the encounters.. I remember every little detail of it. Funny part is, he knew I as hiding there, but waited for me to fall asleep since he would not take this away from me. Now im giving piano concerts featuring the whole FF8 piano collection. This cannot die and I bet it has formed many many memories and lifes back then, still does
I used to do that to my father when he plays Tomb Raider the last revelation and chronicles Funny thing is , when he gets a game over , I used to cry and annoy him ... Such good time
Imagine being nine years old and hearing this as your much older cousin has a controller in hand. Twenty years later, I still get the chills. Final Fantasy VIII introduced me to how amazing the whole franchise can be.
Horus SC I love this song so much I just wanna play the instruments and stuff but I only play the violin and I just wanna recreate the whole song all by myself
Yeah! I remember playing this game for the first time way back when and I was just stunned by the orchestra like music and how Seifer and Squall fighting. It amazes me still how it matches well with the two combined
I think also the ending was the most beautiful I have ever seen. That part when Squall smiles for the first time before he kisses Rinoa in the balcony among a sky full of stars with the music so blissfully calm and heavenly showcasing the ending of such a masterpiece of a game. It always brings tears to my eyes.
Muhajir Are you kidding me? This song is brilliant and was even played at the Olympic Games in Athens. As far as I know, the only song from Final Fantasy that's been a commercial success outside of the video game industry.
6 years late, but let’s appreciate the subtext of that scene. Cid KNOWS the cliff notes of what happens years before the events of the game starts, because of the ending of the game. He knows that the only Gunblade specialist to join SeeD is THE gunblade specialist, the one that traveled in time and told his wife about the sorceress that tried to escape through time and had just transferred her power, starting up the time loop. The literal end of the world via time compression was starting, orchestrated by an earlier (from her own perspective) Ultimecia who was actively body-puppeting his wife, and he also knew they’d win. “Finally, a gunblade specialist!” indeed.
I love this game people dont notice that Squall and Seifer actually use their specials in this FMV. Seifer Scars Squall using No Mercy, and Squal Scars Seifer Using Rough Divide. They just dont use the full force of their specials because its supposed to be a practice dual, not a actual battle to the death.
This was my first Final Fantasy Game and the first game I played on the Playstation 1, My Fav Final Fantasy and they need to remaster it after FF7 whenever that gets finished, FFX and FF12 are my other 2 best ones and they both got remastered so why not this, would be epic and would be very successful
weeeeeel i think it was the thunder as there is a little follow up from the background after this, just think of it this way.. he did cut squall, he didnt blow his head off, lets be real. he probably did not pull the "trugger" ;)
Imagine during some gaming event, Square starts up by showing us a remade version of this opening, and then when Squall and Rinoa show up with the title at the end, it says "FINAL FANTASY VIII Remake"
I remember first booting this on my ps1 when I first got the game and the astonishment that followed after the opening. Never has a love story been so grandiosely told.
I remember watching this intro on a demo disc for the PS1, and to say that it blew my 13 year old mind would be an understatement. Just couldn't wrap my head around how real it looked and how detailed and smooth the animations were. I'm so glad I got to experience this back when it was brand new, but it still gives me the same old chills watching it today.
FFVIII was my first rpg game... And i was like 11 years old.I didnt have any experiance in rpgs and i though it was really hard and boring. But then when i summoned Shiva and Quazecotl and later Ifrit... Boy was i wrong :D
i was getting chills as a child, watching this into to a unknown game for the first time... to this day i think that this intro is by far the greatest thing that can introduce a game to you.. and i love the game
I was 6 years old when final fantasy VIII was released and I remember being so amazed with the graphics (which turned out to be the cinematics), they really did an amazing job with the console limitations, one of the best games I've played, I still play it sometimes on an emulator.
Thanks to everyone for the comments and views, but this version made years ago was just a resize with some filtering. Soon I will be releasing a remastered version with modern AI (4k) upscaling technologies. Probably this time I will try to go from 16: 9 of the previous video (the original videos are in 4.3) to 21.9, obviously losing several parts of the image (hindsight the image deforms), but I will try to manually center the scenes, which had not been made previously. Sure the compression of the site will always lose some final quality, but it will certainly be better than this old video;)
The plot, the deepness, the strong battle system, the GF battle system, also the strong resemblance to the political plot of the modern world was amazing, and after all, the incredible OST it has. In my opinion one of the best games of all.
i really love this game só much and i remember was a kid watch this fmv all the time. this music cause me shivers and is épico. good times. we dont see this anymore in final fantasy
im a delivery courier and while im driving, im listening on this masterpiece. gives me chill everytime i play this wonderful masterpiece of mr. uematsu ... 🙇 nothing can beat this intro. stay healthy uematsu sensei ♥️
i never played ff8 and only seem this opening once or twice at the time of it release. It never really left my mind, liberi fatali is such a good song and i fucking love the visuals. I miss when FF had this "magical" aura of adventure on each release.
Last year in march i watched distant worlds live. After the obligatory intro with ff1 to 3 they played this song. Totally caught me off guard. Ff8 is the one I started with. And this intro still sticks in my brain like nothing else
The music remember my the first time I played FFVIII. It was the best best FF I ever played and still playing. Thank you buddy for this song I'm feeling it ever again.
Being able to play five of my favorite Final Fantasy Games on the Switch (VII, CrisisCore, VIII Remaster, IX, and X Remaster) was such a great surprise and a shock when I first found out. Thank you Nintendo and SquareEnix! 🎉 ❤ And happy belated Anniversary Final Fantasy VIII! 🎉 🎂 🥳 🎉
that was amazing. thanks. I can't explain just HOW EPIC this was in 1999. It was UNREAL. Seriously. This is like seeing an avatar trailer 30 years ago.
one of the best intros you'll EVER EVER SEE in a video game. I remember after seeing this, I wanted to play the shit out of this game!..and here I am 12 years later.
ich weiß nicht warum aber dieses lied ist das epischste was JEMALS produziert wurde und zu diesem video, mir kommen einfach jedesmal die tränen. AWESOME !
i love liberi fatali but the song i really liked was the one from the fishing city or island ,i many times would just stop playing and keep my character there so i could listen to that song and chill
I remember going to some kind of mall on base as a kid with my grandfather, he was still in the military to some degree at the time. I went by some electronics section and heard this playing on a TV. Caught my attention for sure.
You can't decide for others, he finds this the best FF it is the best FF to him. I've played every FF but the reason FFVIII is the best to me is because its the one I grew up with. Nostalgic
What Happened to Gaming??? I remember when this Game along with FF7, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil had Depth, Plot and a Awesome Storyline with Memorable Music. These Days all people want is a Run and Gun FPS. This to me is still better than most games that are released these days. Til this day I still remember Squall, Seifer, Rinoa, Zell, Selphie, Laguna, and the rest of the Crew. To me this was a Awesome Game : )
This is the game that got me hooked on epic story RPGs in the first place. Epic game that stays with me still. Found a love of many other epic games due to Final Fantasy VIII.
This video came out months before FF8 was released, on news sites; it was essentially the ad. Those of us that were FF7 fans were already shellshocked about character death, and seeing Rinoa droop just a little bit too far forward at the end of this video tugged at our raw emotions. Would she die in this game? Most RPG intros fail initially to engage on that emotional level until you've played through more of the game and gotten to know the characters. This one though, wow. It masterfully boils a complicated plot and a difficult protagonist down to three minutes that can't fail to get your blood pumping. Don't overlook the PS1 - it changed the game forever.
I need to go back and finish this game. I have major feels owning the PS1 demo of VIII as well as the PSP version of the game. This intro is remarkable.
This game is better than 7 in EVERY way. Sadly, this masterpiece doesn't get the attention it deserves. Stop remaking FFVII!!!!! The junction system was miles ahead of the materia system . And people complain you can't "use" magic in this game obviously don't understand the system even if they say they do.
Perhaps the best Final Fantasy Square will ever make. I've never seen anything in this game I could call a flaw. Perfect brevity(or gameplay longevity), in-game content, mini-games, plot and storyline, character individuality, limit breaks, GF summons, cutscenes and secrets. In fact, FFVIII is the best RPG I've ever played!
I still remembre watching this back in the day, the cinematics where mind-blowing for the time, I never actually played the game (aside from the PC demo) because I didn't had a Play Station back them, But I read the plot and searched for videos online, and to this day "Eyes on Me" (the ending song) is one of my favorite songs.
That whole sequence of Rinoa in the field takes place in time compression. That is what Rinoa sees. And the sound of the gunblade hitting the ground is the same that we can hear when Squall vanishes into time compression.
Growing up is realizing you were exposed to incredible pieces of music as a kid and that it will shape your taste in music forever
i will forever love this intro
I feel the same
3:04 This part feels nostalgic.
Liberi Fataly is one of my favorite orchestral compositions...alongside Dancing Mad and One-Winged Angel...Nobuo Uematsu is a genius of geniuses!!!
One of the pieces of audio/visual media that defined my childhood...I'm 39 now, and it still captivates youthful wonder in me.
Golden age of video games for you.
best opening in gaming history
i completely agree, but onimusha 3 isn't too far behind
19vergil83 it’s between this or 10
My first try of FF....and I can't believe it... The reason why I love FF series until now
Yobill Lin same with u , agree
19vergil83 and still is.
That moment when Squall's gunblade hits the ground...
The chills are unbearable.
ToucanStudio It's incredibly Hollywood by way of Japan, but I couldn't care less...
The most cinematic FF. So much nostalgia. So much feelings after beating the game. Childhood was awesome :)
too bad it had completely unlikable characters and an aweful story and mediocre gameplay.
I totally can live with that statement^^.

Where can i go to listen to ff8 piano concert?
@@cyberhyper I'm down for that also 👇
@3kLongplays. keep doing your thing man
Legend
I used to do that to my father when he plays Tomb Raider the last revelation and chronicles
Funny thing is , when he gets a game over , I used to cry and annoy him ... Such good time
I can't even begin to imagine how amazing this was to see in 1999.
With a PS1.
Shivers down the spine.
This game have changed my life...
Me too it was an experience I can't describe, legend of dragoon as well
Very crazy.
FR, I'm struck when they first introduced Quistis!
Imagine being nine years old and hearing this as your much older cousin has a controller in hand. Twenty years later, I still get the chills. Final Fantasy VIII introduced me to how amazing the whole franchise can be.
So damn epic. This was VERY HARD to ignore back then.
Horus SC I love this song so much I just wanna play the instruments and stuff but I only play the violin and I just wanna recreate the whole song all by myself
ide love to hear your adaption of the song tho min-song kim
Yeah! I remember playing this game for the first time way back when and I was just stunned by the orchestra like music and how Seifer and Squall fighting. It amazes me still how it matches well with the two combined
Until this day, there's still no other FF game with an intro that can outdo this...
watercat1302 i have to object. Ff12 is slightly better, because more cinematic
@@christophpoll784 Yeah, but this music is unmatched to this day

I'm surprised this song doesn't get as much recognition as one winged angel
fanbase i think ...and yeah ff7 has a lot of games spin-off and movie so yea bigger fanbase
Muhajir
Are you kidding me? This song is brilliant and was even played at the Olympic Games in Athens. As far as I know, the only song from Final Fantasy that's been a commercial success outside of the video game industry.
I hate FF7, nothing is good from that game, suck graphics and story
@@rpgandhorrorloverhans lol, not true
I've seen lists where this song was the#1 video game song ever, so I'm not sure how much more recognition it could get.
"Finally, a gunblade specialist!"
onesppiegel #Cid Kramer
Lmfao could totally relate to this
6 years late, but let’s appreciate the subtext of that scene. Cid KNOWS the cliff notes of what happens years before the events of the game starts, because of the ending of the game. He knows that the only Gunblade specialist to join SeeD is THE gunblade specialist, the one that traveled in time and told his wife about the sorceress that tried to escape through time and had just transferred her power, starting up the time loop.

this wasnt a game back in time it was a life experience for me it feels part of me.
Still easily the best introduction to a Final Fantasy game in the series.
After the Final Fantasy VII remake is released. Square Enix should also remake this game.
And then remake IX as well.
And let us bang Rinoa in the ass.
+Matthew Etter and let us bang Edea too
lmfaoooooooooooooooooooooooo
That's what I keep saying, if they fuck it up, I'll always have my first love on the psx, but it could be fucking amazing to see this world in 4K
Combine the music, the best romance in FF history, the stunning story, and this epic opening... Still one of the best games ever made in my mind.
Same here, it's my all time favorite game
Kulkum Alstavich romance was so forced in this game

Romance a bit off for me on disc 3. I mean squal just suddenly got so obssesed with rinoa it's weird cause it's so sudden.
@@yongkysiaw6597 Would help reading all the dialogues in the story to understand what drives him to this "obsession".

Yeah, he pulled the trigger. At about 2:48 you see the cartridge fly out.
Final Fantasy VIII most underrated final fantasy game of all time, and one of the best final fantasies of all time.
Imagine during some gaming event, Square starts up by showing us a remade version of this opening, and then when Squall and Rinoa show up with the title at the end, it says "FINAL FANTASY VIII Remake"

I like the sound that Squall's Gunblade makes when it Clashes with Seifer's Gunblade.
was I the only one that really wanted a jacket like squall's with fur on the collar growing up?
Vince K I'd rather have Seifer's duster
Imagine. Just imagine the reaction of the audience if this game gets a remake and is announced at E3.
Will never get tired of this. VIII has by far the best opening of ALL games.
Remake FF8 Please..
