There’s a lot of great guitar teachers on RUclips, but Brett Papa is the only one I get. The first one I learned from when I picked up the guitar. It’s always a treat when Brett puts out his own lessons.. I know Brett, you have lots of of other teachers on your webpage and RUclips, but I don’t think any teach as well as you do thank you
I don't know how it actually sounded in the room, but here, on my phone, without earphones, through the few filters this medium always adds, that was an awe some, spot-on Gilmour tone, man! Good work!
Brett: I think you have outdone yourself on this one. I am a long term student and I have bought several of your courses. These are some of the most useful licks I have heard. Thanks.
Brother you're Guitar playing Has skyrocketed damn Brother ...ass kicking right there ...back when Covid Started in 2020 I bought a cheap Guitar ..and i.learned the national anthem from you and haven't put down my LyxPro Electric Guitar since Thank You Brother.
Brett - so much to unpack here but my main takeaway is express and feel the notes like our heros. Great vid, will be rewatching this one over and over again, so damn good. Thank you!
Crystal clear, accessible, useful and about my favorite guitarists. We are the same… but you are better 😂! And your tone is killer. One new subscriber 🤘🎸
Been watching your journey for some years now Brett. Bought many of your courses, they're great. You've really come a long way and becoming a pretty good player these days. I know this is a lesson but.................S P A C E S. 😄
They should be done soon but we are just trying to get him back in with his super busy schedule. A large portion is already done though. It’s amazing!!!
Really nice Gilmour tone (and playing style). Out of all the CAGED information I've watched/learned (lots) for some reason I missed the fact that those shapes are all consecutively connected. That's kind of cool. I thought CAGED was just a handy word that contained all the letters. But they are actually in that order.
BRETT PAPA, Do this same jam track lesson but in the style of Clapton Cream Era, SLASH and Angus Young to learn about STACKED licks, Rolling the Ring Finger Licks, Slash's Scalar Sequencing. I think how EVH used the Whammy bar was to using as a Rhythmic to add in "DOTTED 8th note" rhythms to his licks. I like Don Felder Hotel California solos because its stepping away from the pentatonic "TROPES" and playing more melodic that using the same pentatonic tropes over and over.
@@BrettPapa SLASH uses a lot of In-between notes between each scale note which he will add in these in between FILLER notes really fast to get it those Slash TROPES. Most rock guitar players to use the same pentatonic TROPES but Slash will add in these in between notes to connect the scale degrees.
Hey Brother Brett! Long, long-time subscriber here.. We all benefit from your obsessively passionate LOVE of the instrument, and your willingness to provide these lessons, continuously! What is the device you're using to punch in these rhythm tracks? Thanks!!!
It's the session musicians in Logic Pro. It is a fantastic feature. Just took a couple of minutes to get the basic tracks and then just had to dial in the EQ etc. Thanks for tuning in!
Awesome video. Question. When you go to 9,10,9 on the GBE respectively @17:52 you refer to that as a G chord. For the life of me I only see an A chord. “D” shaped A chord. Am I missing something. Learned a ton either way. 🍻
I break it all down right in the beginning. Amp is a Divided by 13 RSA23, pedal is a Barber Plus, cab is 412 punch in the OX, very was a Chris Lord Alge very/delay in post.
Brett, have you given any thought to doing a full Gilmour course? You really have the Gilmour embellishments and his playing style down. I really enjoyed the Hendrix unleashed course and I know that you could do a Gilmour course justice. Thanks for your playing insights. Good stuff!
Great lesson Brett! Learned a lot from it today. Great sounds too. May I ask a question? Theoretically speaking on Bm one can play the Dorian scale, right? However if I play the g# on Bm it doesn't sound "right" to my ears. Instead when I play G 'it makes sense' because later on you play the G chord. So the relative minor scale (Bm is relative to D major) is a better choice? Thanks anyway for this excellent video lesson.
RSA/BTR23. CJ11 and the JRT9/15 are amazing as well. They actually all are great it just matters what flavor you are looking for but you can't really go wrong with any of them.
Hello Brett, I am French and I do not speak English, can your training be translated into my language like your tutorials? Thank you and cordially from France
I have your caged course and i can't seem to understand the D shape A chord you're playing second. Is that a combination of caged and pentatonic? I didn't see it in your course.
So the triad that is the D shape is shared by the C CAGED shape and the D. See if that makes sense. If you download the jam track it comes with the CAGED diagrams for this tune.
Marty is actually a great guitar player. He just keeps things simple on his channel for the most part. Go see him live he can rip it up when he wants to.

Wow thanks man! I appreciate that!
Amen to that.
totally agree !
Papa is The Daddy !
music is simple ... there are only three chords. majors minor and sevenths.. evertyhing else is adding and subtracting
Thanks for the shout out Brett! I was using the Plus this morning to sweeten up a jazzy tone. Great Swiss Army knife of tone.
Sure thing! Fantastic pedal!
I don't know how it actually sounded in the room, but here, on my phone, without earphones, through the few filters this medium always adds, that was an awe some, spot-on Gilmour tone, man!
Good work!
Thank ya!
Not even one minute in and the hair on the back of my neck is standing up. Beautiful intro dude.

Always :) caged unleashed changed everything for me!
Very nice playing!
Thanks!
On fire with that 🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Haha thanks!
Loved it. I’m a Pink Floyd addict from the early 70’s. I can hear it coming through loud and clear

Thanks for watching!
Excellent, very understandable!!
Awesome! Thanks!
Saving for Christmas break but also hoping for the Bukavac paid lessons to drop soon.
They should be done soon but we are just trying to get him back in with his super busy schedule. A large portion is already done though. It’s amazing!!!
That's my kind of music.....
Haha
Brett is quite the teacher
Thanks!
Geez!! I need that tone.
Haha! It’s actually a fairly simple setup. Not cheap but pretty simple. I can only handle a couple of things before I start to get confused lol!
😅 really made me think about using the vibrato bar again, great lesson
It's so fun!!!
Comfortably Numb is in The Wall 22:15
Yes I know it’s also on a couple of live albums and it’s me of those versions is what I was referring to.
@@BrettPapaOn The Turning Away is amazing as well (A Momentary Lapse of Reason)
Basically everything I love
Sweet!

That's kind of cool. I thought CAGED was just a handy word that contained all the letters. But they are actually in that order.
Totally. I have a number of video on it on my channel and an entire course on it called CAGED Unleashed on my website it you want a total deep dive.

That tone is fantastic.! Are those stereo delays and reverbs that you are adding in post?
Thanks! It is a Chris Lord Alge plugin in post.
Intro jam 🙏🫠
Thanks!

Great vid Brett though lm seeing pick up selector in bridge but hearing position 2 ? YT compression l guess but otherwise 👌
It was basically just neck and bridge. Thanks for watching!
That was bad ass
Thanks for watching!

No that is an A chord I probably just misspoke.
@ all good! You did it whenever you’re on that chord. More coffee ☕️. 🍻
good vid
Thanks!
I need to work on hybrid picking in lead playing.
Its the secret weapon!
sounds great. can you include what you used. amp, cab and pedals.
I break it all down right in the beginning. Amp is a Divided by 13 RSA23, pedal is a Barber Plus, cab is 412 punch in the OX, very was a Chris Lord Alge very/delay in post.
thanks, greg. you sounded great. I loved it

Yep that should work for most of it.
Best lesson I've seen on RUclips so far.
😎🎸 Who's your Papa now?!
Haha thanks so much!
Killer tone. @Brett which Divided By 13 is your favorite?
RSA/BTR23. CJ11 and the JRT9/15 are amazing as well. They actually all are great it just matters what flavor you are looking for but you can't really go wrong with any of them.
@@BrettPapa I think that is what Richard Thompson uses. I saw him recently and his tone had just the right edge to it.
Hello Bred have devilish strong paws or you use soft strings tell me what kind I greet waldek made in Polland
I use 9-42 strings. Pretty light and it makes it easy!
Mio Papa Gilmour.
What is the backing track created from. What software or what is needed to do that. I am tired of trying to do it in my head.
I made it with the session musicians in Logic. Super powerful program.
How do you equalize track volume with your guitar and amp? Mic?, OX audio or using a daw? Excuse me, I try to learn…
I have them all on separate tracks going into Logic. Then mix all of the the levels in there.
@ thank you very much! 👍
Nicely done sir!
Thanks!
