Hi!! Chris, My name is Cris Ramirez now retired ATC. Just want to tell you that all of your videos are AWESOME!! Thank you because by watching some of your videos you got me enthuastic again to continue on my 1960 Europe (Semaphore) type Beetle proyect that I stopped 30 years ago in Killeen, Texas. (How I obtained this 1960 VW in 1980 While in the Military in Ft. Hood, TX is a long and funny story as my buddy and I were just planning to take a part from it to put it on his 64 VW) well..after driving the car for 10 years with a 1600cc engine and later model transmission (12 volt) the Bug was Taken apart in 1990 and painted by my buddy who helped me to discover the car in 1980, but it still untouched for the last 30 plus years inside my garage. However after watching many of your videos I'm back at it again!! I'm now buying new ORIGINAL parts and hope to have it on the road by spring or early summer Thank you again, love all of your very informative videos. God bless you and the family, Keep up the excellent work and Y'all stay safe. Cris Ramirez
hi chris such a lovely story on the beetle you are restoring a family owned beetle from new in the same family for 60 years its going to be fantastic when its done i love that era of beetle the pictures of a similar car was featured in vw trends a while back now your restorations are fantastic they are a credit to you well done
58-59 are super cool with their own details. Lenny is fantastic and has done several of my interiors. One other neat deal with the 58/59 is the front and rear carpet are not the same colors. The carpet behind the rear seat is different than the carpet in passenger areas. Thanks for posting another great informative video.
Great review. I currently live in Europe and am restoring a 59 Beetle. As an FYI leatherette interiors as well as the cloth interiors were available in Europe in 58 and 59. My car was delivered to Salzburg with the leatherette green/gray interior, and still has the stock interior.
FYI, Wolfsburg West carries the arm rest assembly and luggage tray rails. It’s the same armrest used on early bus models too. I’ve got a 58 sunroof and the interior colors are one of the main reasons I love the 58/59 Beetles!
Seeing these videos makes it that much harder to wait for my shell to return from blasting so we can do the metal work and paint it and then reassemble it hopefully it will be done by this summer
In this Video! We take a look at a Brand New "Period Correct" 1958 - 1959 Beetle Interior Kit for a client on our "Build-A-BuG" program. The Interior kit came from Lenny Copp from West Coast Classics Restoration.
You can order the correct arm rest for the 50's and those metal bars that go on the back of the back seat at Wolfsburg West. Chris do you prefer the TMI foam over the horse hair? I got one of Lenny's kits and was wondering which is better for his stuff. Thanks for all the great videos too.
Great video. Although it’s still not “correct” for a 58-59. The door panels don’t have that bubbled ridge look. It’s totally flat. No padding. And with ribs or grooves pressed into the board. Also, yes he is correct that the door pillar is a grey vinyl but the vinyl doesn’t extend under the quarter window, it’s actually headliner mo hair material under the window. And the vinyl is a much lighter grey than in video. It’s almost an off white that fits better with the mo hair color.
I agree about the door panels being a lil more "puffy" than original, but it still is color correct. Also, I have torn down "all original" 58-59s and they had the correct door post and under quarter windows. From what I know and my experience, that was used till 59. I know certain territories might have been slightly different, but this is what I have seen in the USA models.
@@classicvwbugs ah yes that makes sense. Well my ‘59 has the OG headliner and that’s what I was basing it off of. But of course depending on certain years and areas of production, variants are out there. Thanks for the reply! I freaking love your channel.
Sry Sr. what it’s exactly the color and code please?? It’s possible the “special blue” also use in 1956 bug? Because I don’t found this color in the Samba; thank you very much and sry If I had a mistake; I’m Spanish speaker … sry and thx for you answer!! Best Wishes from Peru
Hey Chris just out of curiosity but will Lenny drill out the holes in the panels for the window cranks and the door handles? I've had my eyes on Lenny's interior kits for my 56 but I didn't know the holes weren't drilled out.
@@classicvwbugs Thanks Chris!!!! Is it a pain to cut out or could a interior shop do that for you? I don't have the skills like you and wouldn't want to mess them up.
How you doing brother had a quick question. How do I identify a 53 vw bug pan. My understanding the heater knob goes behind the handbrake. But I can't find good backup information. You have any pictures or information you can share with me. Thanks for any info

I like the TMI foam, yes.
I was thinking that lol. Well you just helped me make up my mind.
@@DoctorRemulak Awesome. I get my foam from cip1.com i think they sell the TMI stuff. Its high density foam.
Yes they do but I think j bugs had the kit and it was cheaper with free shipping.
Saw a guy driving his classic bug in a parking lot. Forgotten how small those cars actually were!
I can’t see the diamond pattern, but I like the quality.
