you may have provided also original video sample. I mean if that was 480p it should have been pixelated as hell when we watch that on 1080p on full screen
thanks for this video, really helps a lot. i try to upscale according to the guide provided and it works well with both resolution and frame rate. is the step mentioned on this video also possible for x265, and I do have some conversion made using x265 for certain videos. and how to incorporate hdr if there`s any option? thanks
You would just select x265 as the video codec in the video processing as opposed to x264. There are no options for HDR, but if the video is HDR before you used Hybrid, then the output will still remain HDR.
Is there is any option that we can save the settings you just did instead of doing same thing over and over for every video, I tried to find that but found no answer
You can; follow these steps: "You can save settings for both the x264 tab and AviSynth settings. Go to the x264 tab and set everything up the way you want it. On the bottom of the program, you will see a long drop-down labeled "Configuration:". On the right hand side of the drop-down, click the plus icon. A window will open prompting you to save an xml file. Name the file whatever you'd like. Click save. Your configuration is now saved! In order for the configuration to be applied upon opening Hybrid, you must go to the x264 tab and make sure that the configuration you made is selected in the drop-down. Next, you must select the arrow icon directly next to the drop-down. This will apply the selected configuration in the drop-down. Your settings that you saved will appear in the blink of an eye! To save the settings in AviSynth, set everything the in the way that you want it to be saved. Once you have set everything, look for the biggest drop-down towards the bottom of the program. Find the plus icon in the bottom right hand corner and then name and save the xml file. Do the same steps as you would for applying the x264 settings upon opening Hybrid. However, this time, go to the save file selection in AviSynth."
@@24valek that’s likely the issue. Many others have had this same issue you are having and discovered that it was their antivirus that removed the Avisynth files. Some antivirus remove Avisynth because there’s no developer certificate. I would check that and see if whitelisting hybrid will work.

@@DaGoose why you might be active can you answer this ?? I learned about upscaling resolution and increasing fps in videos not too long ago. It's not every video I upscale, but it's not a small list either. When watching the upscaled videos they pause randomly, the sound still playing, then kick back in. I've watched them several times, and it's usually in the same areas but not at the exact frame or time, so I'm a bit confused because it doesn't seem like it's a corrupt portion or missing frames or whatever it might be. I don't know just seeing if anyone has experience with this or upscaling and has some advice. Thanks. All my videos I upscale are video games... Elite Dangerous to be exact. hmm Yeah, I guess you could upscale first. My thinking was when you increased fps and the frame count having more frames with upscaled resolution would be overall better? But prolly not idk. thanks
@@CmdrTigerKing I suggested to upscale first as there will be less frames to upscale as opposed to converting to 60fps first. This will make the process up to 3 times quicker. Use the upscale method with GC in it (computer generated content) as it consists of anti aliasing when upscaling and its perfect for gaming videos. Bitrate should be 62MBps for 4k content.
Every filter under the avisynth tab works except for my edgecleaner. If I check that it crashes during encoding and says "script error: there is no function named 'sminideen' (edgecleaner.avs line 51)" Any idea how to fix that? I've reset my defaults, uninstalled and reinstalled hybrid, and updated the tools.
Dabuss55 do you have any antivirus enabled? If so, it likely removed the file for the EdgeCleaner to work. If that’s not the case, then you can skip the EdgeCleaner step.
@@DaGoose I do have an antivirus on and the Edgecleaner.avs file is the folder it's supposed to be in. There is a line "sminideen" in the script when I open it in notepad but the open edgecleaner script linked on the hybrid website doesn't have that line in it. I'm not sure why it's there and I don't know how to remove it without messing anything up. I guess if I skip that step will there be noticeable edge artifacts in the resulting video?
Dabuss55 Ok now it seems like a bug in Hybrid. Have you tried using previous versions of Hybrid? The edge cleaner is mainly used for animations. So not using it will result in small quality drop in the edges for animations but most of the time it will not be noticeable in other types of videos unless if you zoom in the video.
Hello friend, how are you? @TertiaOculus the issue is caused by an error between your video and Avisynth. Only some videos cause this error. There is no way to fix currently but you can try to use an older version of Hybrid: www.videohelp.com/download/Hybrid_2020.01.11.1_SETUP.exe

Are you trying to convert a widescreen resolution to a portrait resolution (what you would see on a cell phone)? If that's the case, there is no way you can do that without stretching the video.
No, there isn’t. You can limit it to a great extent, which is what this guide aims for, but it is impossible to remove all artefacts from a video let alone prevent them.
Dede Brooklyn To fix your issue, make sure your output video file name doesn’t have any special characters (& * ^ % () # @ $ ! {} [ ] ? > < etc). If your file name doesn’t have special characters, then you need to make some adjustments in Hybrid’s program folder. First, close Hybrid and go to the root of your hard drive. Go to: “C:\Program Files\Hybrid\32bit.” Find “AviSynth.dll” file and delete it. Right below that file should be “avisynth_mt.dll”. Rename it to “AviSynth.dll” and restart Hybrid. Lastly, follow everything in the video again and you should be all set.

Avisynth is very outdated, I'd suggest learn how to do this using Vapoursynth in Hybrid, it's the modern replacement for Avisynth. Also, there is rarely a reason to use a 2-pass specified bit rate, use Constant Rate Factor. For many a CRF of 19 is good enough though for some they may need to use a CRF of 18 or 17 for better quality.
This guide altogether is outdated. I’m aware that vapoursynth is new and somewhat easier. That is why I’m using vspipe in my new application, FrameGUI. 1 pass encoding will also be used in FrameGUI.
Macky What are you referring to with video interpolation? Did you mean frame interpolation, pixel interpolation, or something else? I remember hearing that hybrid has stabilization tools so I will see how well they work...
Macky I already have a video on frame interpolation (the 24fps/30FPS to 60fps video). Pixel interpolation is currently not possible in hybrid. Only AI tools are capable of doing that.
hybrid is NOT an upscaler, just an ordinary editor that can resize a video with quality loss. The process in hybrid takes 5 minutes and upscaling is a multi-hour process.

thanks for this video, really helps a lot. i try to upscale according to the guide provided and it works well with both resolution and frame rate. is the step mentioned on this video also possible for x265, and I do have some conversion made using x265 for certain videos. and how to incorporate hdr if there`s any option? thanks
You would just select x265 as the video codec in the video processing as opposed to x264. There are no options for HDR, but if the video is HDR before you used Hybrid, then the output will still remain HDR.
@@DaGoose thanks for the info.
Is there is any option that we can save the settings you just did instead of doing same thing over and over for every video, I tried to find that but found no answer
You can; follow these steps:
"You can save settings for both the x264 tab and AviSynth settings. However, this time, go to the save file selection in AviSynth."
for some reason the avisynth option is not available for me

@@DaGoose I use windows and idk if the anti virus removed the files
@@24valek that’s likely the issue. Many others have had this same issue you are having and discovered that it was their antivirus that removed the Avisynth files. Some antivirus remove Avisynth because there’s no developer certificate. I would check that and see if whitelisting hybrid will work.

would you recommend upscaling this route than using an ai upscaler?
No, if possible I highly recommend an AI upscale instead
@@DaGoose why you might be active can you answer this ??
I learned about upscaling resolution and increasing fps in videos not too long ago. It's not every video I upscale, but it's not a small list either. When watching the upscaled videos they pause randomly, the sound still playing, then kick back in. I've watched them several times, and it's usually in the same areas but not at the exact frame or time, so I'm a bit confused because it doesn't seem like it's a corrupt portion or missing frames or whatever it might be. I don't know just seeing if anyone has experience with this or upscaling and has some advice. Thanks.
Edit: videos your increasing FPS and resolution I assume the best order is FPS than upscaling the resolution. correct? just seems logical but I like to confirm things.
thx again for your videos.

hmm Yeah, I guess you could upscale first. My thinking was when you increased fps and the frame count having more frames with upscaled resolution would be overall better? But prolly not idk.

How to change ratio
Change resolution according to the aspect ratio you want without using any other filter in this guide.
thank you
Every filter under the avisynth tab works except for my edgecleaner. If I check that it crashes during encoding and says "script error: there is no function named 'sminideen' (edgecleaner.avs line 51)"
Any idea how to fix that?

You definitely need to read books. You sounds like a robot when you read your own script.
This is an old video, I have gotten better about that in more recent videos. I don’t know how “reading books” Is going to help.
@@DaGoose Reading books improves the way you read, to understand the context, words, sentences, and how to breathe. We all learn this when we are kids, when we learn how to read and write, in every school around the world, for thousands of years. Reading punctuation is essential and crucial for fluency. Not talking non-stop like a robot from the 60s with a monotone voice, without emotions, and of course without punctuations _(like reading an IKEA manual, for example)_ . The English language has a lot of fluctuations, stress, rising and falling intonations. Even if English is definitely not your first language, reading books helps a lot, yes, definitely and indeed _(especially if you read your script, in English, in this case)_ and it works for all languages, it's magic. Give it a try! - Thank you for your video, *DaGoose* . It was informative and interesting anyway.
Do you really think I’m that stupid? I know what reading books is and why we do it. I only asked the question because reading books and speaking are two different subjects. English is my first language, and it’s doesn’t matter if it is or isn’t because reading books and doing literature isn’t limited to just the English language.
